I'm 27. Ever since I was 13, I've had extremely debilitating shin splints. It was so painful to run or jump. Simple exercises like jumping jacks were not an option for me. I've also gotten sick more than other people normally do all my life. Looking back, I didn't spend much time outside and didnt get much sunlight. Let me tell you, after I started taking 5,000 IU a day of vitamin d3, along with a calcium supplement, my shin splints went away almost completely. After a few more weeks, they had vanished. They never came back because I keep taking my vitamin D3 and Calcium every day. I also used to have joint pain, particularly in my knees. That's gone too. I never thought 20 dollars worth of vitamins from Walmart would have improved my quality of life so much.

At my last physical, I got diagnosed with a Vitamin D deficiency. My doctor wrote me a prescription for Vitamin D pills (5,000 ICU), though you can buy those over-the-counter. I did notice that it helped my mood, though I'm also taking Zoloft at the moment to help with that. My parents also take Vitamin D supplements. In fact, their doctor told them that people in the Midwestern United States (we live in Ohio) have a high tendency to have Vitamin D deficiencies. So, if you live in the Midwest, you might want to get checked for this.

The effects of these steps are that :- 1. I don't feel general weakness anymore. 2. I have surplus energy, even though it's time to sleep, I feel like I can run a marathon. 3. My body's endurance has increased a lot, even though I don't even exercise at all, I can lift heavier than I could before for a longer time. Do you have vitamin D deficiency as well?
@shubhamsurana65385 жыл бұрын
@Ash Rav I took Vitamin D3 capsules of 6000 IU, it's a measurement of how much vitamin D 3 there is in a capsule. I would suggest to consult a doctor who will better understand your condition and how serious it is. A vitamin D 3 test cost me just about ₹150, I guess. It would be better to consult a doctor first. Mandee Blain - you can get a blood test from the Dr that measures how much vitamin D is in your system. Ask your Dr to get the test done so you will know for sure. Also, it takes a very long time to build it back up in your system if in fact you find out that you are deficient- especially if you live in a colder climate.

That’s why you see calcium magnesium and vit D together in one supplement in ratios for the best absorption.
Did you know that a magnesium deficiency causes low D levels. So all those symptoms could indicate low magnesium levels and a serum magnesium test won't tell you cause it's the magnesium in your cells, not your blood that matters.

My blood tests showed a level of 2 of Vitamin D instead of the normal levels of 20 - 50. But my symptoms were slightly different. I felt "wired" all the time, and could virtually not sleep at all, consequently, I didn't or couldn't dream, so those one or two hours of sleep didn't feel like sleep. I couldn't tolerate the sun at all - even in an air-conditioned car, if the sun shone in through the windows, I would feel faint and nauseous. So I could only go outside in the morning or evening. I do identify with the constant sweating! I felt as if I was moving underwater, against a constant stream. My normal patience deserted me. My teeth became very painful and sensitive - I couldn't even rest my tongue up against them or clean them unless I used a baby brush. My vision was also affected - I couldn't drive anymore. I was eventually diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and now take a mega dose of Vitamin D every week. Although my sleep is still very poor, I do dream again at last, and that makes me feel more normal!
@Note-dy6yd2 жыл бұрын

@MAINER47795 жыл бұрын
That's because vitamin D deficiency does NOT cause fibromyalgia! It can only exacerbate it. I've been taking vitamin D for 30 years to lessen my fibromyalgia symptoms. But I've not had a vitamin D deficiency in those 30 years. If you think vitamin D cured your fibro, that's great. Sometimes freakish things happen like that! But vitamin D is absolutely NOT a cure for it. I wish it were! But one of my specialists told me that myofascial pain syndrome is often misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia as the symptoms are simila & some overlap.

That will be a temporarily fix to the problem. I don't know what race you are but Native Americans cannot always process vitamin D even though they're getting it from a vitamin pill. This is almost all fine and factual. The problem with the suggestions in this video is that 1. you CAN'T get vitamin D if you apply sunscreen on your skin and that 2. you would have to eat a ton of D vitamin rich food in order to receive the amount you normally get when exposed to the sun for 20 min between 11:00 and 16:00 from April to the end of September roughly at the latitude where central Europe is. Another common missconception is that you can get vitamin D in winter time if you are exposed to the sun. Only true for latitudes around the equator, further to the South and to the North you go the less D vitamin you get in winter season. Central Europe does not have D vitamin from October to the end of March due to the particular sun's rays needed to produce D vitamin in our body not being strong enough to do so in that time.
@bocephuseasterlingiii52715 жыл бұрын
Once you get older, the body's ability of producing Vit D through the skin diminishes anyway.
@Heavensoon74 жыл бұрын
You're very right about this. But European Green Clay which comes from the Health stores or online helps you ingest vit D which is available in salmon and many other kinds of fish as well as egg yolks. I don't know if that helps, every time I get off the green clay my vitamin D drops to eight or lower as long as I'm on the Clay it stays closer to 16 or more and my pain goes away.
