#9 DREAM
So long ago... was it in a dream, was it just a dream?
I know, yes I know
It seemed so very real, it seemed so real to me
Took a walk down the street
Thru the heat whispered trees
I thought I could hear (hear, hear, hear)
Somebody call out my name as it started to rain
Two spirits dancing so strange
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Dream, dream away
Magic in the air, was magic in the air?
I believe, yes I believe
More I cannot say, what more can I say?
On a river of sound
Thru the mirror go round, round
I thought I could feel (feel, feel, feel)
Music touching my soul, something warm, sudden cold
The spirit dance was unfolding
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé

Funfact: In the minute 1:35, whoever whispers John's name is his assistant,May Pang. The two had a brief 18-month relationship, which John affectionately called "the lost weekend". John was already interested in May Pang, but it all happened when his wife Yoko Ono asked May to relate more closely to her boss when he went to Los Angeles. May was surprised, but over the months, May Pang and John Lennon became lovers and maintained that relationship until the late 1970s

I had a connection like that with John’s spirit when I was meditating in the cave #9 where he used to meditate in the ashram in India! After meditating, I picked up my guitar, and saw the roof of the cave had a painting with a line from Yoko to John that said: “when you look up at the sky and see a cloud think of me.” I started a song with that opening line and suddenly it was him playing and writing a song, the melody sounded too much like John. So much so I couldn’t even use the song for myself because I felt it was John’s spirit pouring through me

When I hear this song, I think of me and my wife at our new house in the country, sitting on a log on the edge of the woods. We were sitting there enjoying the magic of nature when we could hear rain coming, then the rain over us, then moving on. That was a special, magical time in our lives. My wife lost her battle with copd on March 1st and I am heartbroken. I listen to this song and think of this magical time in our lives. I love you Clare and miss you more than mere words can tell.

TRUE GENIUS I JUST LOVE JOHN LENNON ❤❤❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹🌹
@davidrowell4110
@davidrowell4110 4 жыл бұрын
Of all John's fine songs, this is the one that always touches me the most. Unique in its feel and imagery, this is more than just 'great' - it truly recalls something beyond consciousness, as close to a dream in popular song form as will ever be reached. Sad, peaceful, whimsical, nostalgic, wise and knowing, all at once, it's just beautiful. The serenity of his vocal, coming to you from an 'otherworldly' distance, combines with the gorgeous sweep of the strings to take you to another place entirely. A whole world of feeling and perception is expressed in just under five minutes. Sublime, unforgettable...

Yes. She calls out John but also says: Hare Krishna, George. I think it was an apology. George absolutely adored John, he would do anything for him but John never returned the affection with the same intensity. At some point of the Lost Weekend they had a fight (the one where George asks to see John's eyes) and didn't speak again for years. I suppose the message John's way of reaching out and telling George he was on his mind. As for the rest of the song, I think it was about his time as a Beatle and of course, Paul.

This is by far my favorite Lennon song! It's just as fresh today as it was when it was first released. When John, a peaceful man, was so violently taken from the world, I mourned his loss. I still mourn him today. Thank you, John for sharing your gift for music with us. What more would you have shared with us? Love, peace and eternal slumber to you, John!

I had the John Lennon Legend DVD when I was in college and I remember taking acid with some friends and just sitting down and watching the DVD from beginning to end multiple times. This is one of the songs/videos that really stands out from that day. It was a great trip and I will always look back at that time in my life very fondly.

A true work of art. How many more did we miss because of the weak people of New York? If you are weak, you get stinking little cowards shooting down an unarmed man in front of his wife on a public street. If you are weak, you will get more Walking Evil. Because the evil little cowards fear only one thing. It is not a permanent free lunch (and healthcare) at the expense of the taxpayers. Ask Ted Bundy, who kept trying to appeal and get out of the consequences of his own evil behavior. All of them do.

@@fredfox3851 No, but they ARE responsible for no justice being carried out on him. Because they are weak p--sies. You have to deal with Walking Evil in the only language that it understands. The Evil laugh at everything else and get free meals off the taxpayers. That POS gets better medical care, including 24-hour dental, than I do at the VA hospital (which is none, for dental and optometry). No excuse for coddling and feeding Walking Evil that would shoot down an unarmed man in front of his wife in a public street. No excuses for New Yorkers.

Loved the solo careers of all 4 Beatles but I somehow always end up listening to John’s music in the end. #9 Dream is One of his best as it captures in many ways his soul and those recurring themes that made his work so unique. Number nine number nine number nine number nine number nine number nine number nine number nine Enuf! This song restores #9 back to a good place. This is my favorite Lennon Song so dreamy like you're up there floating on the clouds just soaring over the world like a billowy be trip above the Earth and across the universe all the way to heaven the place he tried to imagine out of existence but couldn't because it's real and he's there now talking to the Jesus he said they were more popular than and maybe he was right because people forgot all about God the only reason we exist. Later he said it was a shame that it was true. I hope to meet him one day. #9 OCTOBER was his birthday. When he sang out HELP! I think he was calling out to God. All those years ago.
