I think Air India has improved a lot under the new management. However, there're still rooms for improvement. For example, as you've rightfully pointed out - plastic ziploc bag for cutleries is really a no-no. Also, the inconsistency in the use of its livery. By the way, I am impressed by your decision to choose the Indian main course! Service by the cabin crew seemed good. Hope they can continue to strive to up their service level. 😉

Unfortunately, the options for main dish were not very attractive, so the Indian main course was only option for me. The airline is investing hugely in modernizing its fleet and improving the passenger experience, so I think it will be interesting to see how Air India will improve its first class services in a few years.

They must have loaded the food from London. AI's New Delhi kitchen rarely gets bad food reviews. Good food (Great Indian Food) and the friendly, attentive & warm Cabin Crew are the biggest positives of AI's premium product across the airline. AI should focus on the catering company and standards. With the hard and soft products improving significantly, AI must not lose its grip on service and food. The airline is taking strides in the right direction.

Many thanks for sharing. Interesting to see how Air India are progressing. The hard product already looks a lot better and the service, as nearly always, appears attentive but there are still a number of areas where further improvements are possible/required if it wishes to rival the market leaders. The F&B is obviously still well behind competitors' offerings and even the smaller touches like priority/separate boarding and escorting passengers to their seats should be easy, quick wins. Out of interest, which lounges were able to be accessed at LHR with a First ticket?

Air India First Class passengers can access the Singapore Airlines First Class lounge at Heathrow. However, the lounge is currently undergoing renovation. So the passengers can choose Lufthansa Senator Lounge or United Lounge.

I am flying x-eitihad aircraft with AI as well in June from BOM to JFK in first class and looking forward to it! Also, I am going to be flying on their A350 from Del to Bom in business class. Make sure you try it as that is where you will see cutlery upgrades etc.

The food flying out of any Indian airport is better as the airline has more control over it.The caterers from London are probably one of the worst as I have flew in other first class also the food from heathrow is always mid like as I flew in emirates and ANA first class from heathrow

I think they are headed in the right direction. Confused by the plastic bag for the cutlery haha/ It will be interesting to see how they progress over the coming years. That seat looks very similar to Etihad;s First class product. Great video as always.

Thank you very much, John. Yes, exactly, this aircraft was the former Etihad 777-300ER, so the seats are exactly same things as Etihad. However, I think while first class on this plane isn’t cutting edge, but this is a massive improvement over Air India’s previous First Class product.

Honestly, it looks decent as I have travelled a lot of business class and first as well on multiple airlines like Etihad, American, British, Finair etc. I am sure few things could be improved but good to see Air India trying to finally fix their issues after the takeover by Tata Group. It is time.

With the presentation Air India/Express Cancellations, I don't think I'll ever fly Air India/Express in my life time. I booked my Mangalore - Bangalore - Mangalore flight on 17th May/7th June 3 days they messaged that the flight is Cancelled for the 17th Flight & 5 days before for 7th June. I had to buy an Indigo ticket at a much higher price for 3 people. Read about Mumbai San Francisco flight on 29th May. Air India Group could take a veryong time to get Customer Confidence back .

just did a return economy flight Sydney to Delhi with Air India last week (12.04.24-21.04.24). My seat for Both flights was exit row 11j. sydney to delhi no headphones for whole flight , food was below average if you comapre the price they charge and with almost same price what Singapore Airline offers. On my way back to sydney there were headphones but my IFE screen was broken had no power and had surgical tapes to hold it toghether. I felt cheated and regreted why I booked with this airline . Food portion were small ,presntation was worse and the taste was very bad. Don't fall in trap that it is run by a big private comapny now and has improved. All rubbish only good for elderly and people flying first time to Sydney.

Here's the problem... This an ex etihad plane so all the hard services are theirs.. The soft services are air India and still say below a proper first class product

AI should do away with First Class. This is an archaic concept these days, and since it is only on a small sub-fleet there will always be destinations where it isn't available. Instead, they should expand and update business class to the standards of the world's best airlines (and build a premium economy brand).

They are doing all of it on their existing fleet as well as the new order of 470 planes that they have made to airbus and boeing.

First Class is entirely a different game and it’s so tough for airlines to master it and deliver a true first class product, only a few airlines have excelled it say SQ, EK, EY and rest are mimicking the business class service on a much better seats. Air India needs to focus on delivering fine service to stay game in the first class line by introducing a premium/luxury champagnes and other spirits, premium linens, plates, wine glasses and other crockery. I would not have accepted when flying FC and my purser ask ‘Do you want me to open a new bottle for you?’ They should have been a FC trained crew to be in a polished style.

Wow, you have the guts to go to India so many times & try Air India. At most, this is First class cabin but Business class service only. The Maharaja icon is adorable. Hope they won't strip it off. Still have much to improve. No plan to take this carrier & visit this country
