@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim yeah exactly. I'm pretty sure at most what they might do is have space based VABs require material shipments from mining colonies. Hence why they also added in the material costs into the parts selection in the VAB. The space based VABs may also need a set number of components included and limit the size of the possible ship to be constructed with something along the following: number of part fabricator modules, amount of resource storage, amount of power generation capable by the station, and number of the clamps for docking the spacecraft to the station.

@@TechyBen Yeah, I'm pleased that they are catching up with the other engines, and unity has it's own unique set of uses now. If you're looking to make something that has a massive amount of animated 3d objects, unity is winning the game at this point outside of using straight visual C. I just wish they could get some good visual plugs that aren't so demanding at times. Unreal is still king for ease of use and out of the box visuals, but Unity is killing Unreal in mass object use. The retractable bell is probably more likely for storage reasons. These engines are not intended for atmospheric use and are basically nuclear plasma thrusters for Vacuum. You can use the same type of nuclear engines with mods from certain modders in the KSP community. They look exactly the same and the retractable features there are also purely for storage reasons so it is easier to fit inside upper stages during payloads.
@simongeard48243 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and many such designs are deployable rather than retractable - they're like many of the solar panel designs, initially packaged in a compact form for launch, but not retractable back into that form after being deployed.

I look forward to this game. I fear the feature creep as they are going huge with the scope of this game, but as someone who picked up the early access release of KSP back in 2011, I am hyped! I do worry about them making too many different fuel types and energy/resource requirements. Getting to grips of orbital mechanics can be a difficult undertaking for anyone unfamiliar with KSP already. That alone has scared away some of my friends from getting into the game. I fear making these additional features too complicated on top of many players struggling to get beyond a mun landing will just push new players away. I hope it’s intuitive. I hope it’s easy to understand if you rub two brain cells together. I hope they keep the humour of the original game.

would be a cool feature if fire was in the game. Fire would work as usual but has a couple incidents: if a fuel tank bends too far it will snap off of the top or bottom of the rocket depending on which is heavier. if you have above 60% fuel inthe fuel tank it will explode, but if you have less than 60% the fuel tank will generate tons of heat, not very ideal if you want to survive re-entry with a full heat shield.

that 'solar power' generator you showed at 8:16 in the video, is actually a Stirling engine which uses thermal expansion and compression to generate electricity

1:55 Private Division is owned by Take Two and there is another part of Take Two that is Rockstar Games and in their game, Red Dead Redemption 2, there is a place called Guarma. I wonder if the planet's name is a reference to that place in Red Dead Redemption 2.

I hope they add little parts. I love making little drones and barebone probes. It’s very hard to do in ksp but it’s very satisfying

If they name planets after the things you say when you fail to land, they should name one planet: ¡ᴎI∀⅁∀

I'm really hoping that KSP 2 modders will be able to add their own solar systems in addition to the vanilla ones. That would also open up the possibility of DLC solar systems.

I hope there is some way to slowly (over years) get more Kerbals on a colony without shipping them there. Perhaps by bringing civilian Kerbals there or having some Kerbals retire or go on reserve to set up a civilian life and make baby Kerbals. Maybe add a new Kerbal type like we have scientists, engineers, pilots, and tourists. Add "colonists." Maybe even some kind of cost of living to income ratio and culture mechanic and social policies that would determine whether they are likely to go forth and multiply. Since presumably they are not going to do their family planning based on your strict orders. And if we're really going all in here, having every Kerbal have a family tree and relationships to other Kerbals they have worked with, positive or negative, which affect their performance in various ways, and their personality affecting the government of your colonies and their effectiveness in the administration strategies would be nice as well.

On the note about how big everything will be in the game, (rockets, solar systems, interstellar maps, etc) I bet this will also apply to the game itself, ie in GB. I shudder to think how much disc space and RAM this is going to need.
