I’ve been watching a rewatching these videos and taking notes. My biggest issue right now is worrying about my thinking and anxiety. You had told me that’s called meta worry. Looking forward to overcoming this

You’re offering excellent advice, and I really appreciate you doing these videos. I wish I could have heard this kind of advice 30, 40 years ago. I can attest to how much you can screw up your life by avoiding, denying, and not recognizing problems early on. I wish the psychologist, and later the psychiatrist who I worked with had been able to teach me these approaches. Some problems that are denied/avoided for decades can eventually become devastating. I hope that others may learn to follow your great advice; I’m going to try to apply it as much as I can to some of my recurring problems, but some things can get to the point of impossible if not addressed early enough.

Thank you for your comments and I'm glad you found the video helpful. I 100% agree with you that the more a person avoids dealing with problems, the worse they get.

This is bcz people r not willing to eliminate their problems from the root..they r looking for shortcuts..

@@saniabibi8379 For a lot of people, problems are really aversive and unpleasant, so they may problem solve by coming up with the first solution to that comes to mind. Without going through the problem solving process, this solution may not be the most effective.

Hi Dr Nader, when you give the weight loss example, one problem I have is that I can implement the solution I came up with for a week or so and then I fail. Sometimes it's because the goal is unrealistic or because the solution is too time consuming, but at other times even with realistic goals and plans, I find myself not able to implement my plan on the long term. What do u think the problem might be? Thx a milliom, I love your channel! And I agree, plz don't stop it!!!!

Hi Roula - in the situation you are describing, it could be that the maintenance of the goal behavior is unrealistic, rather than the goal behavior itself. At some point I will be doing a video on goal setting and ways of sustaining goal-directed behaviors

Good stuff. I am still practicing #1 worry awareness, and being aware of the fruitlessness of type 2 worry. As worry begins to evaporate some issues are opening up that were avoided, denied, etc...It's almost as if insight is much keener when worry is increasingly set aside. So, some challenges lie ahead that will require problem solving skills. I also find that as sleep has become more consistent, dreams seem much more vivid, meaningful, and memorable.
