We have no choice children but to play as the knights and the healers for ourselves and for our younger siblings..Thats how dramatic it is..😣

Oh wow it's up hooray! I've seen people wondering who the artist, well here I am. My name is Hattey, I've been an aspiring artist since i was 3 years old. I've always wanted to be a part of Psych2go so this year I finally had the courage to join their team. It's been a long ride of fun and insightful learning curve. From being an avid fan of this platform, I don't have enough words to even begin to extend my gratitude for being part of this awesome creative expression. Collaborating with awe inspiring people who tackle topics that are close to my heart in the most colorful way, what an honor. And the character in this video as the Narcissist, her name is Christina Hemmingway AKA Facade. She's a character of mine that I have developed, and fits the video perfectly cause she's the very self-absorbed type of gal, even when sometimes she doesn't mean to be. The whole concept about Narcissism is more than just being too self-centered and inconsiderate towards others, it all roots down to the lack of self-worth they have. I think at some point we can all relate to this feeling. Anyway I hope you enjoy the video!!

Narcissists make you feel like you are the crazy one, and you aren’t. They are incredibly critical of other people but if you try to criticize them they only double down on trying to make you feel bad. They are master manipulators and often very convincing because many times they believe their own lies. It’s a very challenging personality disorder to deal with, and it can make you start questioning yourself and reality. Sending out much love to this amazing community! ♥️

The worst part about a narcissist is that their behavior seems perfectly acceptable to them and see no problem with it whatsoever. It has become so deeply embedded into their personality that one could say it is almost subconscious.

@Corina-dq2my

It is subconscious in general. People who have NPD aren't necessarily consciously aware of what is actually driving them when it comes to the more maladaptive behaviors and characteristics. They often don't self reflect though, because they don't want to experience narcissistic injury, or cognitive dissonance. They tend to have a grandiose self image, and want to maintain that in their minds.

After watching this video, I realized that I too have been married to a narcissist for the past seven years. Everything in this video has outlined everything that I'm going through with her at this moment and have been going through with her most of our entire relationship. I've finally reached my breaking and my boiling point, and as much as I want to be with her, I realize I can't and that it's time to move on and get myself right. I too have been someone I don't even know for these past seven years. I've lost all of my close friends because of her. My older sister who has always been my best friend, won't talk to me, answer her phone, nothing, and it's been that way since I made the choice to choose my ignorant wife over her after they got into an argument that she started. Sitting here now, making these realizations, I'm questioning just how stupid I could be smh I know it's a struggle, but you need to take care of you and love yourself. Trouble does not last always, and you're better off believe me. I too am in the process of picking up the pieces to my life, and trying to locate the person I was before all of this, but I know God got me. Throughout everything over these years, he's been a constant and boy oh boy has he been opening my eyes and revealing to me that is it time to move on

@@tsdiggs78 Thank you. I have been slowly doing this. I’ve been being very strong. It’s starting to get hard, but I am hanging in there. He is constantly saying & doing things to get me to react. I haven’t been budging. I think he’s very bothered right now that I’m not giving him what he wants. He does things to get a rise out of me, then when I react, he acts like I’m “tripping” and he just be “chilling” and “showing love” but see ai have figured out that he will do something good in-between all of the BS and if you do say something about the BS… he treats you like you are blocking your “blessings” and self-sabotaging the relationship but he knows exactly what he is doing. He takes pleasure in causing women stress and turmoil. There were red flags I seen when we were just friends. I ignored them , he just wore me down and I finally gave in. Now I regret because I am in love with the wrong kind of person. He’s out of town now, has been for a few weeks. He canceled my birthday trip on me, laughed at me when I got upset about it. Obviously lied about the reason he couldn’t take me. I ended up going on a trip anyway without him and now he tells me over the phone that he’s in Texas looking for houses. I know he’s lying to get me to beg him to stay and not move & leave me. Then he is baiting me with an imaginary gift that he claims he has for me… but ignored me the 2 days leading up to when I went on my trip and then called me and said he would give it to me when I got back. Knowing he would be out of town for work. Now he expects me to chase him down for a gift he promised me. I don’t even bring it up! Not too mention he keeps bringing up my FB dating profile he found online and basically let me know that he has one. I didn’t react to that either. I’m like so fed up with his games. But I still have strong feelings for him that I wish would go away. When he told me he made this girl he was dating cry when he told her he didn’t want to have sex with her anymore and thought it was funny. I should’ve known something was wrong with him then. But I still let him date me, smh now I am in too deep and I guess if he ghosts me that would be the best thing that could ever happen to me because I won’t ever reach out to him anymore and allow him to play his games

@tanru2865
@tanru2865 2 жыл бұрын
@@backfire3017 That's because you've been completely brainwashed. The narcissist has the need to abuse their power on people who are close like family members or relationships, as the relation between these people tend to be strong and force the victim to stay still. My father was a victim of narcissism, he was blinded by it and he had only realized recently, he would always think all the problems caused by my mother were his fault and she would play with his feelings, making him enter a depressive moment for a couple of years. The one who suffers of narcissism will start to act like a narcissist in some way, you're being manipulated after all, it's like a disease (lol); then there's the fear and self-questioning of "am I a narcissist?". I have questioned myself many times because of my sometimes shitty behaviour with people. It's a whole different story when a kid grows up with a narcissist and gets along with the narcissist's play... I believe these kids are too sensible and won't understand when they are wrong about something. This topic is complicated... and these things probably happen to a lot of people who don't know they're dealing with a narcissist. The signs given in the video are very generalized, you shouldn't rely too deeply in these. But well, it's the simplest way to understand the "surface" of narcissism. Sure I had my time writing this... lol!
@backfire3017
@backfire3017 2 жыл бұрын
@@tanru2865 i understand the point where a person who is not narcissistic would think that they themselves might be narcissists. Im saying that that might not be the case 100% of the time. One of the cases where i could think of is when said person relates to all the facts in the video, but discredits it immediately by saying that the reason they are thinking like this is because the ppl around them are the narcissists instead of them. To me, at least, sounds a bit narcissistic. And the fact that we are agreeing with their statement might actually be encouraging their narcissistic unnarcissistic behaviour instead. One of the traits of a narcissistic person is they love to receive other ppl's approval, right? And not taking the blame for anything they do? That's like 2 checkmarks already. At least that's what i thought of. I could be wrong, but in the end, we should still consider this possibility.

Once they've managed to rob you of your confidence, friendships, relationships with family members, your job, and where you live, bc they charm the shit out of people and smear your name to everyone who knows you (convinces them your crazy and on drugs, lazy and dont work) manages to change their opinions and feelings about you, come back and tell all the narc's that will never read this that they arent monsters! I would say the first sign will come from your own gut feeling which will send signal to your body telling you that this person doesn't make you feel comfortable being around him/her. The fact that you are already asking this question should alert you to be careful. Something will feel off and you won't know what it is exactly. Covert narcissists can act very charming in the beginning but there will be often also present underlying sense of superiority about them. That sense is actually deriving from them feeling insecure about themselves, so they tend to quietly degrade others in order to feel better about themselves. On the other hand if covert narcissist feels that you are above his league, he will act like your servant, trying to please you - almost annoying in a way. But make no mistake. If you decide to stay in a relationship with him, he will downgrade you and abuse you like all the others. Because in his mind, if you love him, he thinks you are unworthy of him. Covert narcissists hate themselves so if someone loves them, than they think this person is worth less than them and that they can do better. Other sign to look for is any kind of judgment towards others. If he criticises other frequently, he will more likely criticise you as well once he gets more comfortable around you. Pay attention to how he treats people that are dependent on him as well. Narcissists hate those especially if they can't get anything of of that for themselves. Moreover, Cheating in marriages is not restricted to only women. Men cheat as much as women do. If you're suspecting your husband of infidelity, you'll have to keep an eye on him of him without his knowledge of him. One of the best ways to know if your spouse cheats on social platforms is by paying close attention to how your spouse behaves while online. The signs are pretty the same. Is your spouse more time on the app without explanation and gets unnecessarily defensive when you ask about it? If your spouse behavior has changed lately, and continues to spend more time on social apps, it's time for you to take action, with the help of a private investigator (suggested; METASPYHUB@GMAIL. COM , you can find out what is taking all their time on social apps, who they are talking to and other things happening,,

It is a case of over compensating lackness.. at least from what I can observe. I have a very very sick brother, and believe me when I tell you I feel disgusted associating myself with this sick person. He is basically ill. And I dare say, he does not know it. Or he doesn‘t want to. He lives in misery, and everywhere he goes he causes some kind of drama, hatred, issues, problems, basically a never ending source of negative energy. He would yell in my face about obvious lies he is supposed to know that I knew. Very sick indeed. He cannot speak without lying, as if he vowed to make a foe out of reality. For years I have endured all the troubles he caused, the pressure he has put on me for a stupid reason, to help him. But this sickness is not something you can do anything about. I think he is always aware that the truth is just a step behind him, so he has to continually make up lies and childish stories to run away. Poisonous person who would not think twice about spitting lies that could cause division between people. The worst is he would lie so very obviously for no reason, other than, I think, to assert that you are so stupid for him to be able to do that. Left by everyone including his own family, coworkers, friends, constantly causing troubles between siblings. He wants, for each and every sentence uttered around him it MUST somehow revolve around how heroic he imagined himself to be. Once you know he lies as naturally as breathing, you‘d see how easy it is for him to act and be pretentious. They are the definition of weakness. Too weak to confront themselves and the issues inside so they rather make up a whole new imaginary land to live in.

And yes, we share the same opinion on how they can‘t help it. The attributes are very accurate but they are just the symptoms. But never make the mistake thinking you can somehow help them. There are many different signs. These include spending time on phone that was not spent previously, withholding sex from you, withdrawing in communication with you, agitation or anger over Petty stuff or making up situations to get angry or agitated over, lying, being secretive in any way, randomly spending more time caring for and pampering oneself such as putting on makeup or wearing cologne or coloring hair etc. Any type of changed behavior that is not aimed at pleasing or benefiting your relationship. With all of that though, follow your gut. your gut is telling you that something isn't right and it's telling you that this could or is happening, therefore listen to it. Just Free yourself from all of it! Run and don't look back. Go 100% no contact. The mental and emotional abuse is not okay at all! Do not bring anything up to her. Don't try to rationalize or have a conversation about anything. Don't let her know that you know she's in narcissist. All of that can cause a narcissistic rage. If you have not yet witnessed one of those just trust me that you don't want to! A narcissistic rage is beyond any rage I have ever seen or witnessed in my entire life. I am an army combat veteran and served front lines for a year and afghanistan. I have abuse going back from as long as I can remember, the first time in my personal memory is 2 years old. With everything I have been involved in, and my rape, other sexual abuse, their physical abuse, etc in narcissistic rage is by far the worst! If you need to contact your local police department and start a new contact order. No one can protect you like you can! free yourself from it all and move forward in your life. The minute you run and go no contact is the minute your life begins again. If need be seek out professional help. Therapy is the best thing I did for myself. The best gift I gave to me! The abuse is so deep and overwhelming that having a professional guide you through the steps of the healing process is extremely beneficial! Just remember, there is great strength in asking for help. There is great lack and strength or no strength at all in putting on a mask and hiding behind the opinions of society and pretending that you are okay! As human beings we all witness A Time In our lives where we are not okay! Those that heal, move past, and move forward, and have a brighter future are those who ask for help and do the work that is needed through the help! I'm so sorry you are going through this and I wish you the very best! Good luck! Always remember that you are stronger than you believe you are, you are worthy and deserving of better and always, and you are enough just the way you are and who you are today! Take this time for you! Get yourself again. Fix that meal that you're all time favorite, rent that movie you've been wanting to see, have a guys night out with your best friends, remodel a room in your home, go purchase that item you've been wanting to for so long, just do for yourself! Self-acceptance, self-love, and being able to forgive yourself is far more important than what anyone else can give to you! Believe in who you are! You deserve nothing less than that! You're not alone! Feel free to tag me in any other questions that you have! I'll help if I can. Additionally you can hire a cyber expert to help you get remote access to their phone so you can track them and monitor all of their activities without them knowing. That "They gaslight you" really hit. I always knew I had some very specific memory of an event, but then my mother came along and said that it didn´t happen that way. Over and over again. Fortunately I am a bit narcissistic myself and not stupid, so I recorded conversations etc. and proceeded to call her out for her bullshit, I have never seen someone this mad before. She always tells my father different stories from what actually happened, but again, recordings helped proving my point and discredited her to the point no one sides with her anymore if there is any doubt. She can´t accept having any faults or ever being wrong, it made me hate her so much.

@@karynmorton4843 first of all, I am deeply sorry that your niece and nephew have a narcissistic mother. I am guessing that she abuses and neglects them in private, but in public she puts on the persona of a perfect mother? While I am no psychologist, I can only offer you advice based on my painful experiences as the daughter of a narcissistic mother. Please, if you have evidence of her abuse, document everything and report her. Often, sadly, the authorities are useless, but try to get multiple people to lodge complaints. Other family members, neighbours, schoolteachers, etc. Most importantly, continue to be there for your niece and nephew. Oh how I wish I had some supportive adults when I was being abused. Most people believed my mother's lies. Some even scolded me for being a "bad, ungrateful daughter". Years later, a lady told me that she felt so sorry for me and my sisters for the abuse our mother inflicted on us. I asked her, "Then why didn't you report her?" Your niece and nephew need a stable, strong adult to let them know that the world is full of good people. They are most likely suffering horribly. Where is their father, if you don't mind my asking? Because they need a loving environment. Please keep me posted. Have a beautiful day.

Early obsession. Lots of attention early on. Everything feels too good to be true and it is. They will fall in love with you in the first week. Lots of conversations, they would tell you how much you mean to them and how no one gave them those feelings. They are caring, warm, sensitive, you feel overwhelmed by their attention and everything. They share lots of your character traits, from your interests to anything possible, it’s like when you look yourself in the mirror you see a copy of yourself, what happens in here is you are getting mirrored. Early obsession, you are the best thing that ever happened to them since slice of bread. Early dramas out of the blue, they test you early on with how much you are going to allow them to walk away, they test your empathy levels, after the drama is finished, they would apologize profusely telling you they have overthinked, just because they love you, they cause drama because it’s exciting, they crave for it and they can’t live without it. They would fish for compliments with methods like: You are going to leave me and ditch me, use me break my feelings and leave me, i’m scared of commitment, what if you leave me you will break my heart, i love you i don’t wanna lose you, they will basically give you a negative thing so you can answer with your empathy gaining your empathy, they would share the most heartbreaking events like how people used them, how no one understands them beside you etc. The real manipulations start on the Devaluation stage, when they are bored. Keep in mind their early lies are the lies that even they believe to some degree, they are obsessed with you, they are idealizing with you, meaning they are high on your fuel like a druggie, they don’t know what they are saying or doing, it’s a unconscious process that happens with everyone new and exciting, in reality what happens is that you are making them feel good about themselves stroking their ego and giving them your empathy, they don’t love you, they love the way you make them feel about themselves, it’s all about them, even they believe that they are in love, however what happens in here is that they are obsessed with you nothing more nothing less. After they get bored they start to Devalue consciously and they move forward replacing you.

Choose to validate/accept the inner childs emotions within, as well as the flaws, is what matters. Choose to unconditionally love yourself even if your emotions/flaws are 'right' or 'wrong,' 'unwanted' or 'wanted' in the eyes of the ego, the ego is just the ideal person you want to be, pushing all else aside. Hey thanks for this comment, it means a lot for those you got traits of a narcissist like me. I have 3 and 6 and maybe more I don’t realise. I’m a good person in my eyes along with others but I’m just annoying at times ya know? Like yes we have traits of a narcissist but it doesn’t mean we are mean like one which is why I like your comment. We all needed this reminder so thank you. can i just cry right here T_T my parents both are covert narcissist and exhibitionist narcissist. I hate them so muchh, promised myself I never want to be like them but...somehow it just runs in my vein making me hating myself even more. Questioning my damn unconscious behaviour like why do I need external validation for my own worth? why do I have to cut off people's argument to make me win myself without my intention? why do I have to let people down? why am I being toxic? why am I so narrow-minded? full of insecurities but living in delusional fantasy? why do I have to feel superior among others while I'm actually nothing? I'm afraid I will become abusive as a parent, so I react in different way. I don't want to get married, I don't want to make friends, I talk little. I feel pathetic. In fact, I don't want to be a narcissist but I am.

My roommate/family and I used to be very close, but her personality changed ever since she met/married her narcissistic/ abusive partner. My fiancée and I have been verbally and emotionally abused by her and her partner for two years. I've told her, "I'm not mad at you, I'm done with you." She looked confused as usual after I said that (BEWARE narcissists will not understand why you're hurt or upset with them. It's not worth your energy to try to explain!) I walked away. The friend I used to know is gone. I let her go. It's a blessing because something told me and my fiancée to move on. We will be moving out in less than 2 months. It'll be worth it. It's hard, but trust your gut and move on from these toxic people. Your life will be better without them. :)

It was during one of those times that I realized what she was doing to me and decided to leave. After a 10 year relationship that I didn't want to believe was toxic, especially toward the end, I'm realizing I was actually under the spell of a narcissist in a sweet and beautiful package. I gave this woman my soul but was always feeling like I needed to be more, do more, love more, change myself for her in order to get her to listen to or be engaged with me fully. This is tremendously heartbreaking. She ended up leaving me completely out of the blue while I was in the hospital and completely cut off all contact with me because I finally began standing up for myself as my mental and physical health took an insane beating from years of keeping up with this person's demands and conditions. Somehow I didn't see it for so long. The constant games, her constant need for selfies and social media validation even when I was sitting right next to her rubbing her shoulders and loving her. I should have seen the red flag much sooner, I am just lucky we did not get married or have children. I am still healing myself, and my heart goes out to anyone else that has dealt with this. May you find someone who treats you well and gives you the love in return that you put out.

I’ve literally gone through the exact same thing and it’s only a few weeks ago. Narcissistic girlfriend, the constant need for validation of pictures. Or the “look at my nails, look at my new rings, look at my new cloths.. they are so pretty”. And this was a daily thing. She really had a hard time listening, even in emotional moments. Sometimes she would respond on it for a little bit, but quickly starting talking about things from her perspective. Usually something completely different. I had a lot of feelings for her, but in hindsight I’m grateful for not having children. Strangely enough, reading your comment made me feel better as I feel like there’s more people going through what I go/went(feels still fresh) through. I’m happy that you can also look back with a positive mindset, knowing you made the right decision. Hopefully we will find nice and warm partners in the future😌

I dated a narcissist for over two years. Didn't really understand much about those things. Sucked my finances and sanity dry. She finally met someone near the end of our relationship and seemed willing to two-time him. I shut it down and stopped talking to her. She would still call, of course. And show up at my job to talk. Call to tell me about her sex life. Eventually, I met someone else who didn't appreciate her calling all the time, so I told the narc that we couldn't talk anymore. She lost her mind, but she did back off. 19 years later she bugs me out of the blue on social media. Always looking for extra supply. I don't block her, but I always leave the comments on Seen. These people are relentless.

You are not alone. I too have went through this. Met someone after a breakup. What was supposed to be just a distraction for me & to help me move on soon turned into one of the biggest learning experiences in my life & unfortunately also one of the biggest regrets I'll ever feel. Because there were times that the red flags were there & I ignored them & I was hopeful that we could work through them. But that person saw no flaws or mistakes in her actions. Instead she felt entitled as if she did nothing wrong. She took everything from me..my money, my happiness, she even isolated me from my family by taking all of my time & energy. I gave her my heart & most of all my time. & time is the most precious thing that we cannot get back. Please know that we all deserve better. Whoever is meant to be by your side will be there when it is meant. Otherwise please take the time to put yourself together & love yourself. Just breathe & always have faith that you are destined for good things. You are loved.

Do you seek attention? Do you dominate conversations and steer it towards yourself? Do you hate being called wrong, reacting in anger, deflecting or throw it back at the accuser ? Do you lie to people to make yourself seem smarter, better, more successful, or even lie to make people have sympathy for you or even lie about things that aren’t important just for the sake of lying just to see if you can get away with it? Do you constantly wonder if people are lying to you or accuse people of lying? Have you cheated or think people are always trying to cheat? Do you gossip or put other people down? Do you believe you can manipulate people? Do you feel like you are a hero in your own story you are living out? Do you have fantasies of luxury, power, the perfect love? Are you superstitious, believe in magic, think everything happens for a reason, believe in love at first sight, zodiac signs, etc? Do you care more about your public image than close personal relationships? Does your personality change depending on who you’re around? Are you uncomfortable being vulnerable and don’t have any really close friends? Do you struggle with romantic relationships, feeling intensely about someone immediately but within months things become toxic? Do you use social media or dating apps all of the time for attention, especially from the opposite sex? Do you strive for perfection at school, work etc., and think you should be amongst the elites whether you earned to be among them or not? My ex is a narcissist (now getting help, was undiagnosed when I met her) so I have a pretty good understanding of the mindset and behaviors they have. No two narcissists are exactly alike but they have a lot of overlap in their behaviors. Having one trait or missing one trait doesn’t mean you are or not one. Don’t rule yourself out because you think you’re ugly, just like you wouldn’t call yourself one because you acted selfishly before.

I have a friend who falls under all these categories. His parents spoil him all the time just because he has ADD which isn’t even severe. His parents may not know it but they’re enforcing the narcissism they don’t know exist. He emotionally drains me and my sister everyday and whenever I criticize his art style he never decides to improve it and always gets angry at any criticism anyone gives him and considers criticism as “bullying” even though they’re just telling him what to improve on and what he’s doing good. He doesn’t even feel like a friend anymore but I act like it because we’ve been friends since we were 4 years old. I feel his parents might get super angry at me and that my friend will start bullying me if I say “I don’t really want to be your friend anymore.” Heck, I’ve made a new group of friends who I’ve considered calling my best friends instead of my narcissistic friend I’ve been mentioning for 4/5 of the post. Back on topic, my friend ended up making what could’ve been a really good field trip, the worst one ever. The teachers never pay attention to anyone who sits in the back of the bus so my friend decided to slouch back and lay down with his legs in the middle aisle and I was like “Dude, don’t do that. You could get hurt if we crashed.” He just responded that he’ll be fine and I kept trying to get him to sit up. When he did he said he did it to mess with me and I felt like I was gonna cry because I’m concerned for the safety of my friends. Also we were gonna get lunch on the way back to school so my parents gave me some cash and I accidentally left my wallet on the bus during my trip and my friend stole the money and I wasn’t able to eat. I figured out it was him because he openly admitted it after lunch. I was pissed at him. I don’t know why I even call him a friend anymore.

I used to have a good friend who was diagnosed with NPD. He was a real leader personality who gave me the first real reason to live, but really HATED what he was and that he did all of these things. He couldn't keep up all the promises he made and admitted that he only made them so he could have friends. He constantly tried to get me to help him be more normal and understanding while not even his therapists could help him. That's not it at all. To escape one, you need to love yourself more than you love them. It's a personality disorder that comes from a genetic predisposition, plus childhood abuse. Narcissists don’t really love themselves, they are hollow soulless individuals who suck the life force out of everyone in the end. I just hope that in time we all can recognise this toxicity in our midst which seems to be growing, and find ways to halt their influence. Sadly many narcissists are in positions of power and influence in society. Their fake narratives (or confabulations aka LIES) are one of the worst traits in my opinion. The havocked they wreak on those close to them and in institutions and workplaces is unforgivable and nothing short of evil.

I had a best friend for nine years that had an extreme narcissistic personality. Maybe not the best idea for someone with an extreme anxiety disorder to do... She was constantly manipulating telling me things such as “your fat, you should try to look more like me” or when i would try to express how I was feeling she would go “sorry but i don’t really have time to associate with people like that.” Another thing I noticed was she was very possessive and hating me trying to go and talk to others. I tried anything to please her and felt as if I was the one doing something wrong the whole time I was friends with her. This made it hard for me to talk to others even after she left me as I was scared since she would use excuses such as “they probably won’t like you” or “they won’t like how your so shy” to get me to stay with her instead. Anyways, I just thought i’d share my personal experience with a narcissistic personality and how my anxiety didn’t cope too well with that 😂😂

Shy people are some of the most interesting and likable people in the world, in my honest opinion. Being shy shows you are mindful, and that you think before you act or speak, meaning when you finally do come out of your shell, it's exponentially more meaningful and lovely than with someone who constantly yaps to fill the silence. xD In my eyes, being shy is a good thing, and i hope you see it that way too, despite what your narcissistic ex-friend said. :)

Don’t worry if you’re also a narcissist like me but don’t wanna hurt the ones you love or care for. You can always be a *_Functional Narcissist_* , by practicing these: Self-acceptance: Have a healthy sense of self-worth and self-regard. Curiosity: Be curious about others' thoughts and feelings. Compassion: Be compassionate towards others. Ability to tolerate criticism: Be able to tolerate criticism and defeat. Empathy: Be able to empathize with others Empathy will be the most difficult part but by doing these it will help build your empathy; ~Prioritize listening (ignore your own emotions or other distractions and focus on others words and emotions) ~Ask questions and be curious of other people’s emotions (you can always ask them how an experience made them feel) ~Copy the emotions you recognize (if you watch a video with someone who’s hurt. Try understanding and feeling their emotions) ~Share your emotions and be open/vulnerable (give people a chance to empathize with you by sharing painful emotions like guilt, shame, or anxiety) ~Take action when you recognize you can help (even if it’s small or seemingly insignificant, do things to help others even if it’s just to say bless you after someone sneezed) ~Notice body language (try to pick up on small things from the tone of their voice, to small shifts in their energy) ~Talk to people (if you can start a conversation with someone. Do it!)

I would not sleep, had lost my appetite, and was living in constant fear of triggering them but constantly trying to please him. I was addicted to him. And he was addicted to the love and attention I gave him. I had no clue what the true definition of a narcissist was or the characteristics they embodied. Educating yourself is the armor you need. These are my abusive father's traits: - never helps us with house chores. - emotionally unstable. he loses his shit over simple mistakes/inconveniences. for e.g not preparing food on time. - "me me me" mindset. he always demands us attention, but barely shows us any. - know-it-all person who uses "logic" to excuse his bullshit when in fact he's very irrational. - likes to accuse us things. - can't take "no". if he wants something, he gets it. - "how dare you do this to your father?" - "i raised you. i feed you. know your place!" - "look at you wearing fancy clothes. are you trying to seduce other men?" "you care more about your friends than your husband?" he often says these manipulative things to my mother. - compares me & calls me names. - talks bad about me and my mother to his relatives/our neighbors - passive agressive - threatens us with violence - hits us if he loses his control - silent treatment - you feel like talking to a wall. he never listens. Unlike my mother (who's a product of domestic abuse), i know how to deal with him and protect my mother from him sometimes. Knowing he's an abusive person helps, but i admit, it's getting very tiring. I wish i could leave him, but i haven't succeeded in convincing my mother to leave him yet. "Have you ever noticed feeling that you can't remember anything correctly around a specific person." This one hit the hardest. My mom will change every story to always make her the good/right one even when it's blatantly untrue, and even when multiple people in the family disagree. It's nice to know, but I wish I could unlearn that she is a narcissist. She's right down the ballot every symptom one. It's hurt our relationship because I avoid her for the most part nowadays. Every conversation is negative and all about what me and everyone else is doing wrong and how without her our family would be clueless and fall apart. She's unemployed and sits around drinking all day. It's bonkers. But she's my mom and I love her so I deal with it from time to time. I'm just grateful that my Dad is the most positive reinforcing person I know.

Used to have a friend I've always wondered about. Group outings had to be adjusted to her wants, conversations couldn't veer from her interest. It was really frustrating because I was the only one in the group that got fed up with it. Then my best friend did after 1) she took her to her Christian life group and she proceeded to embarrass her by telling everyone that their god murders babies (did she think she was enlightening them?) and 2) my best friend and I were having issues with the rest of our friend group leaving us out of things (me especially). We'd raised the issue and our "friends" and they insisted we were misunderstanding. Every year we had a New Year's party, but that year it had been canceled. SHE told my best friend the party went ahead. Either she lied because she wanted us to feel bad and lash out at the others, or they didn't want us at the party and she told the truth and wanted us to feel bad and lash out at the others. Either way, those friendships didn't last much longer.

I'm a hopeless Dame Carealot, narcs love me because of that, but they absolutely hate my husband who often takes a firm grip around that mask they wear and rip it off, not caring about them turning their backs, gaslighting or whatever they may do. I remember a certain friend of mine that made both of us really angry because of how she treated our neighbor. I told her I want to help him because he had shown up with wounds on his hands and wrists and he doesn't have any pets. She started shaming him by saying that people who cut themselves only do that for attention. Some months later, she showed up with her own wounded arms, shoving them into our faces with the words: "Look what I did the other day, I'm so fed up with my life!" So when you do it yourself you're entitled to ask for our help, but when others do it they just seek attention? We told her to leave, then called 112 (911 where I live). After that, we never spoke again and man do we feel free.

A few years ago I realised that I was in a really bad place mentally, I really hated myself. Since then I've tried to hype myself up with thoughts like "you're the best" in an attempt to make me feel better about myself, but when I genuinely started believing those thoughts I was scared that I would turn into some sort of narcissist. I felt better after watching this video, I know that I'm not a narcissist, just discovering newfound confidence :D So.. thanks for this video! And thanks for reading?^^

My cousin is a narcissist, or at least acts like one. I was friends with her for years, and I would be lying if I said being around her didn’t affect me. She used her troubles and trauma to make me feel like I wasn’t valid. Yes, she has been through a lot, but instead of giving advice to others going through her same situation, she used it to make me feel like I didn’t have a reason to be sad. She’d tell me that I didn’t have a reason to be sad because I had a happy family, good friends, everything I needed, and most of what I wanted. Now I realize that I don’t actually have most of those things, but at the time I believed her. In the end she succeeded in making me feel invalid. I will probably never convince myself that my mental health is indeed worth it because of what she did. But, y’know, that just happens sometimes. Good luck to everyone who is dealing with a narcissist or dealing with the aftermath of a narcissist. It takes time, but I know you’ll pick yourself back up. Love you

sarigy if you're safe and emotionally stable enough, try to get her help instead of running away. The best way to deal with a narcissist is to help them, instead of running off to let them hurt others. Basically, treat her like she is an equal, don't shower her in praise she doesn't deserve. Basically dog-train her, give praise when its deserved, and ignore/confront when they do bad. Don't sugarcoat your confrontation, tell it exactly as it is, and make them feel guilty.

Holy crap, I met a girl a year and a half ago and she has all the 9 signs! She's Japanese and wants to move in with me in my home country. The thing is that I discovered little by little that she lacks empathy (I was beaten by my dad as a child, and when I told her she shrugged it off by saying that I should learn to love myself instead of finding excuses about my lack of confidence), wants to change my behavior (by forbidding me using humor that doesn't suit her or supposedly rude expressions), doesn't want to talk about anything "negative" (mostly stuff she disagrees with), expects me to pay for not only the daily expenses but also for luxury gifts, pressured me into buying an expensive ring -that she doesn't wear because it's linked to a "bad" experience she supposedly had when I bought it), victimizes herself constantly and wants only to be surrounded by "positive people" aka people that are wealthy or of high professional status. She criticizes my belongings and my apartment (saying that when she'll come we need to move to a bigger place because she needs an office space), thinks that my car is small and that she'll need a bigger car. Each time I pointed this behavior out, she gets mad and sometimes violent. When I try to discuss with her she gets dismissive and patronizing. I always feel like I am inferior to her, she's body-shaming me (even though I've been told that I was attractive by some girls in the past) and while she's conventionally attractive, she has a high image of herself. She says she needs a man "she can rely on", meaning someone who will be manipulated by her into doing whatever she wants. This video just made me realize that I'm probably making a big mistake. This chick is toxic af. I need to break up. I just feel sorry that her parents like me.

Dude, RUN, I repeat RUN - do not walk - and GTFO. It doesn't matter what her parents think of you, SHE is the one you'd have to deal with. And she may be feeding into the perception that her parents are fond of you - whether or not they actually are - in order to add that element of guilt that she feels will keep you where she wants you. No matter how hard it is to break up, it will be much harder to get rid of her when you cohabit and possibly (gods forbid) marry - especially if any children are produced. Trust me, she is NOT mother material. It sounds as though she is already verbally abusive to you, and has displayed violence to make her point. This will ONLY get worse the more secure she gets in the relationship. She clearly doesn't love you or she wouldn't feel compelled to change everything about you. She WANTS to keep you feeling inferior, that gives her power. I mean just think of how WRONG that is in a relationship - the partners should be best friends, encouraging one another. I see it's been a couple months since you posted - I so, so hope you were able to end this. If you haven't yet, be prepared for the s**t to hit the fan when you try to dump her. She will use guilt, anger, violence, anything she can to keep you where she wants you. Narcissists detest rejection. It dumps a load of cognitive dissonance into their little world. I mean if they are as perfect as they want to believe, NOBODY would ever want to leave, right? Yeahhh... Get out and don't look back, ever. You deserve so much better. It's clear you're educated and intelligent, you're articulate and possess insight. Don't second-guess yourself. Spidey sense is never wrong.

That was my last straw with my ex wife - we were having a nice conversation, she started criticizing me for no reason to obviously start a fight with me, I wasn't in the mood and walked away so she started a fight with me for that, then when I was getting ready to go take a walk and cool off, she straight accused me of cheating on her with my best friend's widow (he had committed suicide about a year prior, and they're both like family to me so I'd been helping the widow deal with her own issues) and that was when I said, "F this, I'm out." I'm still pretending to be friends with her for now because if I don't she'll lie to the cops that I raped her and have me arrested.

Are most people narcissistic? Because I find a lot of people act like this. Especially on social media in comment sections... I have seen so many hate comments and there will always be an argument going on between people in comments. I have noticed far too many people are wrapped up in their own opinions, don’t take criticism well, constantly get offended or triggered, and always passing the blame and not being accountable for something they’ve done. Loads of people never want to say sorry and they just turn the tables around to play victim and like it’s always someone else to blame. I have seen it time and time again. Comments with people hating on each other and things being unresolved by leaving it with “stfu” and cursing at one another because nobody wants to take blame. It just really annoys me that people are like this, and it’s really making me hate people in general. So many people claim they aren’t a narcissist and that narcissists are horrible people, but yet they do it themselves.
@xtessa1

“So many people claim they aren’t narcissits”. Because narcissits don’t think there’s something wrong with them. Even if their behavior show it there’s something wrong with them, they don’t see those as negative traits. That’s why narcissits are actually very sick.
