@@lauralaforge558 I know right. I am so tired of people saying that all brown cabinets are outdated, like that is even a valid reason or a reason at all for hating a kitchen or a house. No, they are not dated and no, not everybody wants boring white or gray cabinetry.
@Laurtew

@@vaderladyl - The bland neutral cupboards in my kitchen were actually a selling point to me. It's taken me a couple of years to get the feeling of my house, but now I'm cleaning and painting them. The brown was a blank canvas and was nice while I was waiting to decide what I wanted the kitchen to feel like. (The whole house I bought was just a blank, neutral look and that attracted me as I've been able to suit it to me. How hard would it have been to find a house that looked just like I wanted it to?)

I absolutely love the canvas you covered with beautiful material. Tip for you: put a small padlock on your sewing scissors so they won’t open when little people borrow them. They ruin so easily and are not cheap. Buy lots of safety scissors at back to school sales and put them all over. I mean in every possible location any person might need scissors. I buy cheap canvases and setup up stations with marbles, long strings, hot wheel cars, etc…Recently the boys redecorated their room in black, gray, and red accents. We did several sizes. I let them dry in between colors. Fabulous.

@@jcastro8654 I just let the kids roll the car or truck through a little bit of paint I put on a paper plate and then drive them or push them across the canvas. I let them dip clothesline pieces in cups of paint and then drag the rope across or splat it. I put marbles in the paint on the paper plate and let the kids thump them or use a stick to push them around. I just do one object per canvas. When they were younger I let them dip them dip the top side of Lego’s and stamp that and I let them dip the feet of dollar tree dinosaurs. There are so many things you can do and kids from 2 to 20 have a blast doing it. So do I actually. I have let them make canvas’ and after they are dried I glued a picture or three of the kids on it and then coated it in clear varnish. Grandparents love this. If you do a big one and include all the kids coaches and teachers love this too. Have fun.

I tie a strip of fabric through the handles of my sewing scissors as a visual reminder of what they are for. You could tie them together with a ribbon instead of a lock, if you can trust your kids to get the concept and not untie it.

@@amberallen4181 I used gray wood stain to redo my fake wood kitchen and bathroom cabinets, in my current rental home. I didn't sand or anything, just slapped it on. When I tried to sand one side in the kitchen, it ruined the wood grain look, so I abandoned that idea. Turned out great and the landlord asked me to leave it, and the wall paper, when I move out. That was his way of telling me he liked it. It's also held up extremely well, painted and papered in two days, over two years ago. I used stain from Home Depot.

I LOVE the idea of covering or replacing outlet and light switch covers! I read about that this morning on a renter's DIY page. I love this idea, especially in our living room and hallway that both have multiple switches.

I've been doing the material and paint over cheap canvases for 25+ years.. Love it👍.. Looks good, is individual and it is easy to change up when you get bored of the picture or your style/interior changes. Also been doing the stones, plants and floating candles in little vases for years👍.. I did it first for my wedding tables in 2003 and then for my friends tables at her wedding in 2005! Love how it looks👍.. I change up for seasons eg winter.. Pine cones, conifer sprig and Holly leaves and berries.. Great for Christmas🌲👍. Great ideas Kathryn 👍 and love your positive energy as always 😊.

Thank you sooooo much for the cabinetry paint tip! I desperately want to paint my rv cabinetry but I can’t do the kind of paint project that takes three days because this is a tight space and we cannot knock our entire rv out of commission for that long.

The ballon decor was so nice!! My son will be coming home on leave( he just got back from Romania) and ai want to make the best welcome home experience I can. We moved states since he left and he’s never even seen the house. That will be a great way for some red, white and blue plus I know my grandson will love popping them and driving us crazy afterwards💖💖

These were great, but I like the air circulation of wire shelves for storing linens, pillows, etc. Great ideas!

Majorly interested in that cabinetry paint, ours are so ugly but I've been putting off doing them cuz I dread sanding and multiple coats etc. Thanks for the suggestion!

You can always thrift material too. I look at clothing that have interesting patterns that can " grow up" to be something else. Look at long dresses and sheets as material now.

I really love the ideas in all your videos, and your energy is catching! Last video I saw this week, you used a Bissell steam machine for $40. I can't bend down anymore to do around the toilet base, and tons of bathroom dust there, you know. I can't stand it but I'm the only one that does the housework here. You did the toilet base with the machine and its wand and I said oh that's for me! I went straight away to buy it and it was $33 bucks on Amazon. So excited. I will likely use it to do my baseboards too because that is also difficult for me to squat down or bend over to do those. This tool will help tremendously.

Our Home Depot no longer cuts lumber for customers, so folks might want to check that before going in. I love your idea with the shower curtain, I have one that I've held onto that was used as a curtain for a wardrobe but it's pretty and matches our bedroom. I was going to just hang it from a fancy rod but I think I'll look for a canvas instead, easier to put up and take down.

Our local Home Depot doesn’t either. Actually it’s been quite a while since they have. It’s not due to limited staff because I see them all over the store and sadly most of them on their cell phones!

Shower curtains also make great headboards. Walmart foam mattress topper for an inexpensive and easy cushion on any size board box (you must build : ) with a french cleat hanger made exactly the same as your lovely birds. My daughter's headboard is still perfect seven years and counting.
