Given the fact that the mere mention of philosophy makes most nervous or bored, “Stoic philosophy” on the surface sounds like the last thing anyone would want to learn about, let alone urgently need in the course of daily life. But in reality, in Stoicism we have a tool to help us in our pursuit of self-mastery, perseverance, and wisdom: something one uses to live a great life.
Here are 9 Stoic Secrets from some of the great thinkers of the modern world: Alexander Ludwig, Tom Brady's Sports Psychologist Greg Harden, Joe Rogan, Robert Greene, Guy Raz, Steven Pressfield, Tony Gonzalez, Carli Lloyd, and Chris Bosh that will help you get the most out of your life and continue on the path to self-mastery.

9:11 I’ve experienced my own hardships, 24 years young despite being an older soul due to my past. I don’t define my traumas as a trauma anymore, they’re the strength builders. I love my personality and mindset and it’s rare to others. My therapist was obsessed with my stoic mindset and she’s a lot older than me so it always stuck and touched my heart. If you’re here watching this video, you’re on the right pages in life I promise.

When Greene described observing homself from 6” away, is similar to how I view myself, as an avatar that I can decide/control how it acts/reacts to situations. It gives me a weird control of being able to stay calm and clear, during high stress situations. A very good analogy. Err….Metaphor.

The one thing keeps coming up is balance, you can grind yourself into the ground for your passion and that’s the mindset at the start, but then you realise you need calm and quiet and to have time away with something else to keep you refreshed. It may be called burnout but you need to sustain your mind by giving it an outlet.

Self mastery obviously doesn't occur overnight. You have to realize that it takes time to master a particular skill or mindset that you intend to incorporate in every facet of how you perceive the world and the people in it.

Great meditation to start the day. I love and live by the mantra "premeditacio malorem" which allows us to "envision" the outcomes, and gather the right "provisions" to execute successfully, and make "revisions" of the processes that were flawed in our work. Also, premeditacio malorem allows us to plan for the best possible outcome, the worst possible outcome, and find the love and the joy of the harmony that happens which we realize the dialectics of what happens there somewhere in the middle. "Both & Thinking" has helped me with my creative process and to free up my senses of higher order thinking. Foresight is the forefather of creative insights. We actively need to be envisioning the "force majeure" and neutralizing/mitigating it. We need to offer safe places in both the kitchen and board-rooms for dissent, so that we have reached a better sense of private conversations in the public "oikos", and we need to evaluate every node of the decision tree, and decision roots to be making more robust/wholistic decisions, that also benefit the civic good.

@@JusticeBurpees not sure that’s true, he’ll plug Stacy Abrams as a pioneer but won’t do a logic based narrative? I think his agenda is pretty obvious. Ryan Holiday uses stoicism and Marcus Aurelius to make a living off people searching for meaning and a purpose in their lives. I guess that’s ok but it’s very far removed from the original intent of the stoic teachings.
