The Morgan Banks one was absolutely sickening. What an oxygen thief. Minimum term of 18 years? With a rap sheet of 49 offenses from age 11? The psychopath deserves life without parole!
@dioniciotrevino76725 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same. Just what he did to the girl should have got him at least a minimum of 30yrs. He'll probably be out by the time he's 50.
@coldshot17235 ай бұрын
"Minimum Term" means just that ... he will have to serve 18 years before he is eligible for a parole hearing. That doesn't mean a parole board will automatically release him. In the UK, they very rarely sentence someone to 'life without the possibility of parole'. But he could still be held for life.
@sevrinaanastasia5 ай бұрын
I feel the same way! I started tearing up when I thought about the poor girl and how she was clearly very scared of this person as the reason she left. It's heartbreaking to think she was killed after she tried so hard to protect herself and her baby and her little baby never got much of a chance for her to be a mother to him. So sad Just this alone and being beaten to death in 4 hours makes me feel he should have in in prison A LOT longer. That's a horryfying death! :-(

I don't know if that really leads to murdering anyone, let alone their own parents (I mean it has happened prior to this being such a big thing in kids' lives) but there sure is something to be said about developing negative traits and much worse social abilities. Here in my country juniors are not allowed phones at school anymore, not during breaks included. And even after 6 months kids report that breaks would be more fun with a phone. They 'manage' to talk with their peers but that doesn't really sound like they truly enjoy it. Social skills seem to get worse due to the constant influence by social media and I do believe it can lead to narcissm, more aggressiveness and selfishness. That doesn't mean they turn into killers per se, but exposure to social media can be bad for anyone's mental health, it can become a fixation, comparisons to others and if adults even notice how much better they feel without social media or their phones all the time, then imagine what it does to kids' brains. Depression, anxiety, terrible attentionspans, getting worse at litteracy, needing constant dopamine fixes or they get fisgety or grumpy and worse. I don't know if we ever manage to turn things around in general, because kids can also became hateful towards their parents if they can't have what their friends have: a phone. More of an indirect way that these affect kids nowadays but it does happen. I don't see this changing much anymore, but I certainly wonder about statistics here, if those can ever truly be made about how phones and tablets truly affect kids' (and adults') brains. It would be worth knowing perhaps and see what changes there can be made in general. I don't think phones and tablets can be fully taken away out of today's life, but maybe there are other ways in which there isn't such a negative influence on us. But, I highly doubt it, so these instances might just happen more and more to even younger children. @@MostlyPeacefulRioter

Long story here: There was this kid I knew of in Upland, CA. back in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s who was about 15 or so. His family was Korean, they put him under a lot of pressure to do well despite him having a learning disability and ADD. His dad beat him, his mom was mean to him, his younger sister was “a brat”, according to the boy. He was expelled from the Claremont Webb School District for poor grades, had failed a gifted and talented test, and knew his upcoming grades for that school year’s end would be very poor. His dad had beaten him so bad one time that he ran through his upland neighborhood while still naked. One night he snapped after his mom scolded him for not studying despite the fact it would do no good, he was already getting a report card of bad grades on the way, school year nearly over. He got his dad’s deer rifle and used it on his mom while she slept and then on his little sister. He packed up the rifle, a bunch of cash around the house, and drove the family Mercedes station wagon to Vegas. His dad wasn’t home, but came home to find the bodies and his son missing and called the police. Meanwhile, the boy abandoned the rifle in the desert and checked into his family’s high roller suite at the Rio in Vegas. The host got suspicious and called the police, and the boy was found and arrested. They wanted to give him first degree murder charges, later changed it to second degree, and then the Public Defender tried to plead for mental health assessment. The dad fled the country to South Korea.

Well, dehumanization of trans folks isn’t something new at all. It’s just sad really. Like, you can hate the concept of transgender as much as you want, and you can dislike trans people in general even, but at least have the decency to treat them like human beings. I guess I’m that liberal scum or whatever, because I don’t believe in being needlessly cruel to people, so I’m biased, but cruelty doesn’t have gender.
