Dammit!!!! Me and my little sister watched this and agree on one thing, it should have been the ending! We love 6 and feel like it answered a few unquestioned things, like why six wore the key on the first place, the trailer said "9, you are the last...." and the hope so answered that! oh well, no use crying over spilled ink ;)

I loved this movie, but the ending was just weird. I figured they ended it the way they did so that there were chances for a sequel. Obviously, that never happened, but people have been speculating it for a while

This is SO SWEET! I LOVE IT! I always felt like 6 knew about how 9 would fix everything. And we get to know where the key goes! Perfect ending wish they added it in. 6 is my second favorite character :(

this would heave been the better ending....... i saw the word "hope" on the box when 9 oppened it in the movie though...and that would explain 6's key.....

While it would have been nice to see a use for 6's key... that would take away something, I think. Life's plot holes don't always get filled. But this is still very sweet, and one of the most touching things I've ever seen in a movie. I love this the most: how at :40 there's a second of silence before the music returns. While the actual movie does have silence, it's filled by thunder, and something about the pureness of the quiet and the return of sound after it is just beautiful beyond belief.

I think the best ending was the final ending, plus 6 going over to the box and pointing at it, then flying up to the sky with the others. Then this should take place. The problem is that the box in this scene is the box that has a projection of the scientist. They couldn't use it unless it somehow got locked and 9 didn't stop to look at HOPE written on the mirror when he opened it.

I wrote a fanfic based on this scene. The words "Our Last" we're engraved on the side of 6's key, and 9 used it to unlock the box in the first place....

In the original script 6 loses his keys when he struggles against the other rag dolls before he gets killed. That’s how they have it in this version of the ending (12 years too Late for the reply I know but I just rediscovered the movie)

What I love about this scene is that the characters do not talk. I personally think if the characters did not talk in the movie then it would’ve not only made it more interesting but would save more money

Yes i agree strongly and in the sequel to 9 maybe the humans come back and they teach them how to do stuff or something, and maybe some of them can donate their souls to make more characters like 9? And maybe some of the humans in the dead machine and rebuild it o.O then they have to kill it again

Maybe they should have kept th key in...it didn't seem to make much sense. Wouldn't it be cool if Shane Acker made a sequel, and they found the key, and it had some purpose? Like, maybe to unlock a box with the Scientist's diary or something?

i know, right? i mean, he goes through the whole movie with the key around his neck, and they never tell you what it was for. maybe they deleted it because they couldn't figure out how to get 6's key after he fell into that gorge. that might be why they deleted the other scene. because he was so fixated over his key.

In the original script he actually loses the key during the bridge scene before he dies when he gets pulled away from the machine by the other rag dolls (ur comment is 13 years old. Feel old yet? I do…)
