JUst to say, I really like not just the advice you givem but how you deliver it. Great channel and totally agree with much of what you say. I saved £100k in my late 40s as a single mum of a littel boy. I wish I coudl invest it instead I need to pay my ex out of the house but hey, it still increased my wealth as house grew in equity, And I did it on under avarage salary. HOw? well, as you said yourself, being frugal, no holiday for years, watching what and how i spend. Like you, I had some circumstances favouring me, e.g. interest only mortgage during exceptional low interest rates and offset mortgage so my savings were further reducing my interest. I had lodgers in for number of years , sacerificeing my privacy an my son's but it helped immensly to get us through hard times and still manage to save. I wish i was more savy and understanding of how to use my mony better as I probably could still have done better. Even now when some big changes are upon me next year I feel lost in what the best thing to do..... So I shall keep watching for some more inspiration and ideas from you....... Good luck with your channel and all teh rest!

Oh my goodness, finally someone who agrees that wearing designer items takes money out your pocket, you’re advertising their brand and not getting paid. Like who the hell is Gucci anyway? Will Louis Vuitton mean anything to me at the end of my life? No. Thank you!

For the books category, I think libraries are highly underutilized these days. A library card is a valuable resource giving you access to a wealth of knowledge all for free. Borrow and read a book from the library and if it really hits home with you then consider purchasing it to support the author. Then you can read it over and over, take notes in the pages and truly cherish that work for years to come. Great video!

Building wealth from nothing involves consistent saving, disciplined spending, and strategic investments. Begin by creating a budget to track expenses and identify areas for savings. Prioritize paying off high-interest debt and establishing an emergency fund. As you build a foundation, start investing in low-cost options like index funds, and focus on continuous learning and improving your skills for better income opportunities.

My wife and I spent two years living full time in an RV and traveling to 37 states as well as Canada. It forced us into a minimalist lifestyle. What a wonderful feeling of freedom, not only from not being tied down to a specific location/home, but also the freedom from stuff! Once we established how we wanted to live and what we needed, we applied one rule that worked wonderfully for maintaining our sense of freedom from stuff. We called that rule, "Something in, Something out." Buy something new meant getting rid of something else.
@estbestest4656 Жыл бұрын
My wife and I travel for a couple of months from time to time, since we both work remotely, so we get different flights and go around Europe and Asia with two backpack bags. Since we need to move a lot from place to place, we just take our PC, docs, credit cards, just toothbrush, floss, 2 t-shirts, glasses, stuff like that. In case you can always buy a new sweater, jeans etc. In that way you can take flights with just a hand luggage and go around with a backpack. So I remember our first trip, we just booked rooms, cheap hotels and used Couchsurfing. After two months we crossed 8 different countries. That feeling, when you realize that all you actually need to live decently for months takes a place of one backpack, is priceless

Transportation is an interesting one. If you live in London where public transport is plentiful, doing without a car makes sense. For parts of the country where public transport is not good and/or expensive, doing without a car is less of an option.
@NoName-jq7tj Жыл бұрын
You don’t really need a car in the heart of London. Neither do you need one if your in Greater London. TFLs’ stretch is quite further out. If your a single person then possibly you can due without a vehicle. Travelling within the Zones is quite economical. So if all you have to undertake is travel between Zones 2-4 a car can be secondary. I’m talking from experience. Also driving in the heart of London is a nightmare. Traffic lights slow you down dramatically.

It is refreshing that made a simple explanation regarding this working for you. It was nice not getting the all or nothing talk. Makes me want to listen/watch more of your videos. Fantastic tips! I commute using a bike or e-scooter, which reduces my transport costs. I do all my own beauty treatments at home, excluding hair dying (I get that professionally done). Since swapping skincare for more affordable drug store brands that has also made a difference along with not being influenced by hype and marketing. When it comes to smart spending, getting rid of the impulse to buy more & quenching that feeling that you should consume more due to environmental pressure really did it for me. I moved away from a very commercial city with too many people buying to flash their wealth (no surprise, it was heavily Chinese city) and settled in a place with a slower pace of life. I am not a big spender to begin with but changing the environment did a massive deal for me as I no longer felt the need to buy clothes/any household items! Now I wear and re-purpose what I bought during the past years. When I travel for work I visit charity or vintage shops to buy cute items for my house second-hand below 10 dollars. I now make twice the income I made a year back, and my spending decreased significantly after reducing environmental/peer-induced stress. Life has never been better.

This is a bit of a tip on the flipside though but very helpful for saving time: if a free item/event instead cost $1, would you purchase it? Meal planning has saved me a ton of money! At the beginning of the week, I'll plan the meals for the week and only buy ingredients for those meals. I’m glad to say I too stopped these a long time ago. Bulk buying cleaning products & food reared up during the pandemic because I avoided going to the stores so much & bought a lot online. I had forgotten the energy it takes to deal with lots of food to cook & freeze it in a timely manner in portions & then rotate it, something I do normally but on a much smaller scale. I overestimated my use of sterilisation wipes & still have 2 huge tubs! I used to love flicking through magazines & bought many. Now I can indulge to my hearts content, courtesy of my library who has online, books of all genres, magazines, audio books. Libby is shared by other boroughs too. All you need is a Libriary Card. Unfortunately we now live in a age where social media is king. The “influencers” are paid to promote goods & so long as the goods are something you really want, need & can afford, then the choice is yours. However when you keep up with the Jones it’s a road to nowhere financially.

I realised I much prefer a home cooked meal and going to restaurants on special occasions. If I want to meet up with a friend, I much prefer grabbing coffee and going on a walk. 2. Buying clothes in-between seasons or trendy items: I ask myself now ‘can I wear this piece across multiple seasons and will it still be in fashion in 10 years? If the answer is no, I won’t buy it. 3. Beauty: you’d be surprised how raising your self esteem will save you money. I am happy with my natural hair, lashes and features. I will only get a facial before a big event and I get press-on nails to do them at home by myself. They look exactly the same as acrylics. 4. Useless coffees: I perfected my coffee making skills and got myself some nice portable coffee cups so I can take a homemade coffee with me on my walks or to the office 5. Events: if it’s not furthering my ability to make money or giving me access to specialist knowledge or networks, I won’t go. I don’t value being out for the sake of being out.

The transportation idea only works for people in areas with significant public transportation. Growing up, we had a good rail system. This may sound very counterintuitive to some - but I used to end up buying a lot of unnecessary stuff simply because it was on sale, and it ended up lying unused or I didn't really like it as much because it was not my style. Now I buy items when I need them and have a clear list of them.

I agree with the high maintaince products. The only thing I'm getting is laser hair removal because even though its a 1-2 year time consuming and expensive process, its permament. And shaving costs and wastes more time in the long term. So I feel like in the end its a worthwhile investment.

What about junk food/ restaurant/ eating out/ overpriced coffees? Earlier this year it hit me that dining in is very costly! What with vat, service charge, tipping, etc. One day mom and I dine-ed and aside for the meal and drinks, we spent an extra $150 on service charge, vat, etc. Since then we have really cut back on eating on, and we sometimes do take out. However I would like to cut back on that lol, as well as junk food. I want to try to cut back on buying iced coffees, boba teas, Starbucks, because I've come to realize that it all adds up at the end of the month, and it's not something that I need. My toxic trait is treating myself if I've had a long day or bad day, and that treat is Starbucks or boba tea lol and I need to start changing that.

Try bartering too. I trade what I do with my hairdresser and my accountant. With family, we all look out and bulk buy products we all use; then share those items out. Also share a car with family members if you get on well enough to do so😁. Love your videos Nischa, your career is a world apart from mine, but the same thinking can apply to us all.❤

Thanks Nischa for sharing. Nowadays Im also thrifty in my spendings too. Focus more on the needs than the wants. Glad getting to know your channel✌️

Regarding trending products for your hair, skin, etc., I can say it is much better to use natural treatments than artificial products - Exercise, Sports, Meditation, Good Diet, Drinking plenty of water, Good Sleep, etc.

I have a 1 week policy so I’ll put something in a cart and wait a week. If I’ve forgotten about it then no problem. If I still think I need it then I can decide to buy it or not. It has cut down on a ton of impulse buying for me. I also have a rule for clothes that if I don’t want to immediately wear something new then I probably don’t want to wear it and I take it back if it’s something that was delivered.

You are such as genius! I also think it is ways cheaper to live in a smaller but convenience location if I am single. It can save me more time and money if I live in central London

To me wearing branded clothes just to show off a brand is cringy, I felt like this since I was a teenager. I’m glad you said what you said about it.

I a agree for almost everything except for the books : I don't think saving 25-30 dollars a month on book will make or break a want ti be lillionaire. However, the idea of one book can change your mindset, spark new habits and/or dig deeper on certain topics which would 10000x the cost of all books spent before (job promotion, job swich, creating a succesful company...)

Hi Nisha, great content as ever. Your point on transportation is only applicable to places such as London. For example, living in a more rural Scotland makes it impossible to cut costs on a car.

South Africa demands you to have a car. Taxis are unsafe + travel distances far. Nischa thanks for inspiring me to start my own YT channel! 🎉

Well, I live in a rural area so I have to have a car but I keep cars, and I maintain them. No car payments, so that helps. And my hair would be white if I didn't dye it so I do offer myself that little luxury every 2 months. It makes me feel good and it's where I will prioritize my budget but happy to cut other places (have, do, and will continue to). Great vid!

You can get free books at the library. And some libraries even have e-books for download. If you live in a city where the libraries are interconnected and books can be requested online, then you should take advantage of it.

Im guilty about beauty products and hoarding. I like the 48 rule. I did buy things last year up until today I didn’t have the chance to wear it.

i remember using so many skincare products to help with just skincare in general and most of the products never worked. I started using a derm formulated product for my skin concerns and that in of itself helped reduce unecessary spending for about 8 years now

Really enjoy watching your content! always pulls me back into reality and makes me think twice about purchases! I measure my purchases on enjoyment value and never rush into purchasing items that bring me small amounts of joy. I shop at kmart for my clothes as I really don't care for designer brands or following trends "I have to wear this to look successful". even food now I tend to lean on cheaper home brands and surprisingly they actually taste just as good or if not better then the premium brands! thank you and keep up the content, really appreciate the mindset this channel brings and the knock back to reality! at the end of the day, be happy with you and your money no one actually cares what you wear or what your hobbies are! spend your money on the things that bring you the most happiness! I can say with out a doubt that having savings had a huge impact on my mental health and feeling a sense of security rather then living pay check to pay check to prove something that most people don't actually value or take for granted.

Great! Thanks Nischa :) I read summaries or previews and parts of books before deciding on purchasing them as well. I also have a 2-book per author rule (unless they are the major authors of classic literature like Shakespeare, Dickens, Dostoyevsky, Jane Austen or Proust. Everyone else gets a limit.)

I buy detergents during black friday for the rest of the year. So, I don't necessarily agree with No. 2. I save quite a lot and I dont buy them for about 11 months. I also beat inflation. Id say, it depends on what you are buying. I love your channel, it is beneficial to me. And you are a beautiful lady ❤

Keeping it simple ……… life that is!!! I guess ever option in life such as do I go left or right at this moment in time. Come back to just DO YOU, the wealth is in the journey of your life, the dreams that drive you forward to see the future. Without a doubt money is needed to survive, just don’t forget it just a tool. That opens the doors to your future development. ONCE AGAIN Nischa the people in your inner circle, are very fortunate and proud . To have such an incredible amazing individual in their lives. THANKS FOR BEING YOU, till next time 🥂🍾💐💐

Ive been doing some of these tips for the last few years. I stopped buying the latest fashion pieces from my favourite brands and now only purchase timeless pieces. I Regards to impulse buying and the 48 hour rule. I usually load up my basket with everything I liked and then 24 hours later, I return and end up removing 60% to 70% of the items. Now purchasing a waaaaaay below my means car, because I live 4 mins from a tube station. I will however purchase a nice car once my passive income streams reaches a certain amount to pay for it. Trying not to pay for any more liabilities out of my pocket. Only passive income for the BS things.

Thanks for another great video Nischa. Another point is to not buy white goods, cars, phones, etc on credit or lease. All of these depreciate rapidly and if they are bought on credit, the value of the item will drop, but the interest on credit means the total cost of the item was way more, so it's a double loss. Vehicles depreciate the most in the first 3-5 years, so buy after that point with cash. Phone companies love selling latest models on a lease buy, bundled with a ridiculous amounts of data that is rarely used. Buying one that is 1-2 years old (even 'new' old models) with cash, and have a realistic (low data amount) SIM only contract saves so much.

im from Malaysia, i used to buy products from Guradian/Watson (drug stores) in bulk as at the time, the discounts were seldom and later...most of the items were thrown out due to expiry date. Things i bought were sheet masks, shampoo, sunscreen etc. But now since there is promotion every weekends, ill normally purchase 2 sets of the same product as a back up
