JUst to say, I really like not just the advice you givem but how you deliver it. Great channel and totally agree with much of what you say. I saved £100k in my late 40s as a single mum of a littel boy. I wish I coudl invest it instead I need to pay my ex out of the house but hey, it still increased my wealth as house grew in equity, And I did it on under avarage salary. HOw? well, as you said yourself, being frugal, no holiday for years, watching what and how i spend. Like you, I had some circumstances favouring me, e.g. interest only mortgage during exceptional low interest rates and offset mortgage so my savings were further reducing my interest. I had lodgers in for number of years , sacerificeing my privacy an my son's but it helped immensly to get us through hard times and still manage to save. I wish i was more savy and understanding of how to use my mony better as I probably could still have done better. Even now when some big changes are upon me next year I feel lost in what the best thing to do..... So I shall keep watching for some more inspiration and ideas from you....... Good luck with your channel and all teh rest!

Oh my goodness, finally someone who agrees that wearing designer items takes money out your pocket, you’re advertising their brand and not getting paid. Like who the hell is Gucci anyway? Will Louis Vuitton mean anything to me at the end of my life? No. Thank you!

Really money savvy people do not wear logo branded apparel; not only cos it's free advertising for the brand, it's also a sign of security on their part - they do not need to broadcast their wealth status for the world to see

For the books category, I think libraries are highly underutilized these days. A library card is a valuable resource giving you access to a wealth of knowledge all for free. Borrow and read a book from the library and if it really hits home with you then consider purchasing it to support the author. Then you can read it over and over, take notes in the pages and truly cherish that work for years to come. Great video!

Building wealth from nothing involves consistent saving, disciplined spending, and strategic investments. Begin by creating a budget to track expenses and identify areas for savings. Prioritize paying off high-interest debt and establishing an emergency fund. As you build a foundation, start investing in low-cost options like index funds, and focus on continuous learning and improving your skills for better income opportunities.

My wife and I spent two years living full time in an RV and traveling to 37 states as well as Canada. It forced us into a minimalist lifestyle. What a wonderful feeling of freedom, not only from not being tied down to a specific location/home, but also the freedom from stuff! Once we established how we wanted to live and what we needed, we applied one rule that worked wonderfully for maintaining our sense of freedom from stuff. We called that rule, "Something in, Something out." Buy something new meant getting rid of something else.

My wife and I travel for a couple of months from time to time, since we both work remotely, so we get different flights and go around Europe and Asia with two backpack bags. Since we need to move a lot from place to place, we just take our PC, docs, credit cards, just toothbrush, floss, 2 t-shirts, glasses, stuff like that. In case you can always buy a new sweater, jeans etc. In that way you can take flights with just a hand luggage and go around with a backpack. So I remember our first trip, we just booked rooms, cheap hotels and used Couchsurfing. After two months we crossed 8 different countries. That feeling, when you realize that all you actually need to live decently for months takes a place of one backpack, is priceless

That's it. Bulk buying food leads to eating more. Bulk buying other necessities makes a lot of sense. You wouldn't use more toothpastes with every brush, just because you have extra in the cupboard. I can't say the same for chocolate, crips or biscuits.

Came to comment the same thing. I’ve saved a tonne with smart bulk buying on household consumables I will always need like kitchen roll, laundry detergent, toilet rolls, cleaning detergent etc. however pay attention to the cost per litre/kg/item. Sometimes the 18 pack of toilets rolls costs less per roll than the 24 or 32 pack. They are sneaky like that! Also if you love rice like I do find a good Asian supermarket and buy in bulk bags. Literally one tenth the price per kg than in a general supermarket!

Transportation is an interesting one. If you live in London where public transport is plentiful, doing without a car makes sense. For parts of the country where public transport is not good and/or expensive, doing without a car is less of an option.

You don’t really need a car in the heart of London. Neither do you need one if your in Greater London. TFLs’ stretch is quite further out. If your a single person then possibly you can due without a vehicle. Travelling within the Zones is quite economical. So if all you have to undertake is travel between Zones 2-4 a car can be secondary. I’m talking from experience. Also driving in the heart of London is a nightmare. Traffic lights slow you down dramatically.

Having a car is essential for many, sure it’s expensive but when your needs are beyond just going to work and shopping, it is necessary, especially in North America. Example, those living in much colder climate(can’t imagine carrying grocery bags in -15C 😀), living in suburbs, make frequent trips for leisure, and driving kids around for activities to name a few. Having said that, agreed on number of other things you have said. Life is short, I am not a believer in extreme saving, a balanced approach is what I believe in as tomorrow is not a guarantee for anyone.

Loved this video. We are largely on the same page. I want to share what I cut out to save more 1. Going out to eat: I used to do to go out to try new restaurants almost weekly. I realised I much prefer a home cooked meal and going to restaurants on special occasions. If I want to meet up with a friend, I much prefer grabbing coffee and going on a walk. 2. Buying clothes in-between seasons or trendy items: I ask myself now ‘can I wear this piece across multiple seasons and will it still be in fashion in 10 years? If the answer is no, I won’t buy it. 3. Beauty: you’d be surprised how raising your self esteem will save you money. I am happy with my natural hair, lashes and features. I will only get a facial before a big event and I get press-on nails to do them at home by myself. They look exactly the same as acrylics. 4. Useless coffees: I perfected my coffee making skills and got myself some nice portable coffee cups so I can take a homemade coffee with me on my walks or to the office 5. Events: if it’s not furthering my ability to make money or giving me access to specialist knowledge or networks, I won’t go. I don’t value being out for the sake of being out.

I like how you explained about a car and you not needing one due to your circumstances. A lot of individuals that make videos make these all or nothing statements - like use public transit - you are wanting money if you have a car, find a different job, so you don’t need a car. It is refreshing that made a simple explanation regarding this working for you. It was nice not getting the all or nothing talk. Makes me want to listen/watch more of your videos. By the way, I live 47 miles from my job - living in the town where I work is not feasible and I carpool with others to save money and wear and tear on my vehicle. We all do the best with our personal situation and you made that known. Thank you

Fantastic tips! I commute using a bike or e-scooter, which reduces my transport costs. I do all my own beauty treatments at home, excluding hair dying (I get that professionally done). Since swapping skincare for more affordable drug store brands that has also made a difference along with not being influenced by hype and marketing. I also have a reduced capsule wardrobe with less items that you can mix and match (in black, creams and beige colours). Completely agree, as you get older the less designer brands matter to you and your peers. True wealth whispers, it doesn't need to shout...

I measure my purchases on enjoyment value and never rush into purchasing items that bring me small amounts of joy. I shop at kmart for my clothes as I really don't care for designer brands or following trends "I have to wear this to look successful". even food now I tend to lean on cheaper home brands and surprisingly they actually taste just as good or if not better then the premium brands! thank you and keep up the content, really appreciate the mindset this channel brings and the knock back to reality! at the end of the day, be happy with you and your money no one actually cares what you wear or what your hobbies are! spend your money on the things that bring you the most happiness! I can relate to much of this, people should pick and choose what supports them best. I've decreased significantly on purchasing clothing, jewelry, shoes- wearing what I have and love, no more books, no more household tchotchkes, and minimal self care treatments. And this has happened in my 40s, good for you for realizing these things in your late twenties! I have never valued high end designer products simply because you're only putting money into that company's pocket and you are only losing. Waiving a societal flag does nothing for you as a normal human being in the long run.

I’m glad to say I too stopped these a long time ago. Bulk buying cleaning products & food reared up during the pandemic because I avoided going to the stores so much & bought a lot online. I had forgotten the energy it takes to deal with lots of food to cook & freeze it in a timely manner in portions & then rotate it, something I do normally but on a much smaller scale. I overestimated my use of sterilisation wipes & still have 2 huge tubs! I used to love flicking through magazines & bought many. Now I can indulge to my hearts content, courtesy of my library who has online, books of all genres, magazines, audio books. Libby is shared by other boroughs too. All you need is a Libriary Card. Unfortunately we now live in a age where social media is king. The “influencers” are paid to promote goods & so long as the goods are something you really want, need & can afford, then the choice is yours. However when you keep up with the Jones it’s a road to nowhere financially.

I totally agree with you on the 48 hour rule, Home decor, and maintenance. I thought I was the only person who can’t stand sitting still for the hour and a half. Lol I do enjoy my monthly pedicures, I always tell them I’m in a hurry so they finish in 30 minutes. 😂

When it comes to smart spending, getting rid of the impulse to buy more & quenching that feeling that you should consume more due to environmental pressure really did it for me. I moved away from a very commercial city with too many people buying to flash their wealth (no surprise, it was heavily Chinese city) and settled in a place with a slower pace of life. I am not a big spender to begin with but changing the environment did a massive deal for me as I no longer felt the need to buy clothes/any household items! Now I wear and re-purpose what I bought during the past years. When I travel for work I visit charity or vintage shops to buy cute items for my house second-hand below 10 dollars. I now make twice the income I made a year back, and my spending decreased significantly after reducing environmental/peer-induced stress. Life has never been better.

Very true Nischa impulsive purchases need to be thought about more carefully. When you step back and ask yourself do I really need this item, you may realise you are just buying it to keep up with others. Thanks again for your thoughts on these interesting topics 😊

Meal planning has saved me a ton of money! At the beginning of the week, I'll plan the meals for the week and only buy ingredients for those meals. I'll also cook enough in one night to have enough food for the next night or two. It drastically limits the impulse take-out food purchases and saves a bit in electricity/gas because I won't be cooking every night.

Ive been doing some of these tips for the last few years. I stopped buying the latest fashion pieces from my favourite brands and now only purchase timeless pieces. I Regards to impulse buying and the 48 hour rule. I usually load up my basket with everything I liked and then 24 hours later, I return and end up removing 60% to 70% of the items. Now purchasing a waaaaaay below my means car, because I live 4 mins from a tube station. I will however purchase a nice car once my passive income streams reaches a certain amount to pay for it. Trying not to pay for any more liabilities out of my pocket. Only passive income for the BS things.

Try bartering too. I trade what I do with my hairdresser and my accountant. With family, we all look out and bulk buy products we all use; then share those items out. Also share a car with family members if you get on well enough to do so😁. Love your videos Nischa, your career is a world apart from mine, but the same thinking can apply to us all.❤

Hi Nisha, so agree on costly treatments and constant upkeep of nails lashes can cost a small fortune, especially when you can learn how to do those for yourself sure it nice to have treat once in while and also the branded clothing always thought of it as unpaid advertising and gym memberships you can keep fit by just getting outside for daily walks or buy a yoga mat and follow some exercise routine on KZbin

Thank you for this! I agree we have been conditioned to buy things impulsively and not based on value. There are other items I stopped paying for, 1. Cable television and entertainment subscriptions. I do my best to skip social media and time wasting activities. What is the cost to use social media, cable television, and things you can actually get for free?

I hate going to get my hair cut: I only do it twice a year. I also hate dying my hair: I feel that I can invest that time better. However, I can feel the society pressure to dye my hair, but I strive to do it as rarely as I could (given that 40 % of my hair is white). Just like you, I cannot bare to sit for someone to do my nails, so I leave them as they are. Bonus: they fit any outfit I wear 😂

im from Malaysia, i used to buy products from Guradian/Watson (drug stores) in bulk as at the time, the discounts were seldom and later...most of the items were thrown out due to expiry date. Things i bought were sheet masks, shampoo, sunscreen etc. But now since there is promotion every weekends, ill normally purchase 2 sets of the same product as a back up

#6 my rule is that a decision to make an expensive purchase takes roughly as much time as it takes to earn that money. E.g. buying a car - 1.5 months, buying a house in a new country - few years, buying a new laptop - a week, new HiFi setup - 3 days etc.

I a agree for almost everything except for the books : I don't think saving 25-30 dollars a month on book will make or break a want ti be lillionaire. However, the idea of one book can change your mindset, spark new habits and/or dig deeper on certain topics which would 10000x the cost of all books spent before (job promotion, job swich, creating a succesful company...)

I agree with all of these but there is one high maintenance treatment I do - the cysteine treatment for my hair helps me save a lot of time (and maybe money). My hair is naturally curly and frizzy and VERY hard to manage. The treatment makes it super easy to wash and dry plus I hardly have to brush it between washes and I don't have to put any products in my hair between washes. It just works. This is one that the upfront time and money investment every quarter pays off in time and mental comfort later on.

Inelastic demands: Housing, food, energy, clothing, *debt*. What you decide to pay for those things is up to you. Eliminate debt which was used to pay for the elastic demands below. Debt used as leverage to increase income is not wasteful. Elastic demands: entertainment/communication, luxury consumables, social displays of wealth.
