I just started full face and it i feel like I'm forcing breathing. Then my legs start tingling and I get anxiety which wakes me up. Not sure how to stop the feeling of suffocating
@Sleeplayground2 жыл бұрын
The suffocating feeling is a common reaction to CPAP therapy, It takes time and practice using the machine. Try putting it on during the day to watch tv or listen to music and little by little you'll get used to it.

I had no problem using a normal cpap. Unfortunately I just never got any relief. Got reevaluated and told I needed a full face mask as I was opening my mouth to breath. I tried it for a few nights. Impossible. Could never get a good seal. It was horrible. Even when I did tolerate it for a few hours I felt worse than before. That was 20 years ago. Not sure if I just got used to the apnea or what but I am sleeping good without a mask. Feeling fine and wake up refreshed. I don't fall asleep during the day like I was before. I am sure I still have sleep apnea but I would rather go mask free than use the face hugger mask they gave me. If it shortens my life span (I'm 64 now) then so be it.

Hi, thank you for sharing. Did you possibly lose a little weight that will definitely help with the sleep apnea. Also you do not have to use a Full Face mask. Doctor may recommend but it is what you are comfortable with and as long as it is benefitting you should not be a problem. I would consider the PAP therapy again with a nasal mask if you can get used to. As long as your comfortable and your Events which are your apneas are less then 5 an hour. You should be good!

@@Sleeplayground Unfortunately I am a mouth breather so the nasal mask was not giving me any relief. The full face mask is something I just couldn't handle. Weight is still the same. I am fine where I am at. My health is still good. No issues with the heart or blood pressure. I walk 4 miles a day. I used to stress out over it 20 years ago when first diagnosed but I no longer worry about it.

How is your CPAP therapy going?
@afinney88 Жыл бұрын
I'm a new CPAP user, last night was night 1. Very scary indeed but I think I managed it quite well. I'm watching as many videos as I can to learn as much as possible and the one thing I took from this was the beard stuff. I have quite a thick beard so I'll be lopping that off tonight down to a stubble. Should help with the fitting of my mask.

@@Sleeplayground Its okay, 2 days in and I'm fine think it was just initial anxiety. I have developed some pretty bad nasal congestion is this my new norm or will it go away once I'm used to the machine? I've tried nasal sprays/sinus clearing technics -they work momentary then I'm back to being congested. Possible dehydration? any advice will be apricated.

I have a so clean, the medical supply company said it's not good to use. They say it doesn't clean the tubing. My tubing clicks into the back because I have oxygen. So I can just use my so clean to clean tubing in your opinion. Thank you .

i'm wearing the nose mask, had trouble with the hose when sleeping. Also nose gets itchy and that keeps me awake. Any tips would be appreciated.
@Sleeplayground Жыл бұрын
What type of nose mask are you wearing? The one that goes in the nose or around? What seems to be the issue with the hose can I ask?
@Sup3rwin Жыл бұрын
@@Sleeplayground I believe I have the N20 mask. The hose just doesn't feel comfortable as a side sleeper. Also, side sleeping is a challenge because as soon as I turn to my side, the air starts leaking out of the mask.

It is really a matter of practice in most cases. But depending what exactly is the issue you are having there is a resolution to most situations. Is it too much air? Not enough air? What mask are you wearing? Let me know and maybe I can assist.
