All looked wonderful. People don't understand how healthy liver wurst is. My favorite were the pretzel sandwich

Yes, liverwurst and blutwurst are actually high in nutrition. It’s bad because nowadays they add a lot of preservatives. I use to go to this old Polish deli they make fresh and their wursts only last for couple days. I herd German wurst are fresh and has less chemicals.

That sauerkraut pastry looked amazing. I think I may try making that, and the Mini-Laugenbrötchen. Friday night at the bowling alley here in Wisconsin surprised me, they didn't have any Oktoberfest beer on tap. New Glarus Spotted Cow was a great alternative though, it's considered a farmhouse ale, reminds me of a Belgian Wheat Ale, very sweet, perfect with pretzels.

Oh i am sorry that there wasn’t any Märzen to drink! The mini laugenbrötchen are divine

thanks for explaining out to make pretzels. i knew it had something to do with lye, but couldn't quite remember how it comes together.

There you go Skip. They are so easy to make. I will try to make the dough ahead of time and then bake them next Sunday for breakfast. I would love to make them more regularly

Was that the new kitchen in the background? There's one thing for certain, when it comes to party appetizers, Germans have more than enough to fill books & books. As far as what to munch on, a German party does not need to be boring. Once, out of that original Hawaii toast recipe book _(Quelle?),_ we made the Texas salad. _(Thin beef strips, ketchup, onions & bell peppers in strips,)_ It went over so well, that we had to make it every time after that.

New kitchen comes in December. And hopefully we will move in Janury, so Michael noch ein bisschen Geduld ;)

What is the white creamy ingredient you added to the sauerkraut strudel? All the appetizers look so good!

It's Quark, which is similar to fromage frais/cottage cheese/curd cheese/farmers cheese, but a bit different to all of them 😂, which I suppose isn't really helpful, is it?🙈 It's available in a lot of Europe, but not sure about other places.

In this case Quark can be substituted with cream cheese or sour cream!

Quark is a soured milk, fresh, unaged cheese product which is gaining popularity in the U.S. because of its versatility. You also will hear it called dry curd cheese, farmer's cheese and sometimes pot cheese.

Great, thanks for the names! I will surly use them!

Just to make it clear: Oktoberfest is not a public holiday in Germany! 🙂 The mini-Laugenbrötchen look so adorable!
