Wait until you’re over 60! I’m actually in best shape I’ve been in many years. I started walking a year ago, literally an hour everyday. I walk on treadmill and push myself. It’s toned up (surprisingly) even my arms. I’m up for baring it all. Women my age (who’ve had 5 kids) can still look fabulous into our 60s! If you work for it, anything is possible even in later life! Just because we’re older and have had children (5 in my case) and had hormone issues doesnt mean it’s impossible to be very fit. How bad do you want it, is the question.

I always enjoy your honest take on fashion! I am 74 years young and I must admit I have to curtail myself from wearing a much younger look. I’m young at heart, I’ve always thought younger, felt younger and I look younger, so I can get away with some of the trends, most of the time. I do REALLY enjoy the wider legged pants, especially linen for summer. They are so much more comfortable and I find myself gravitating towards them. I just bought a pair of lime/yellow green semi baggy linen pants and I wear them everywhere, paired with a denim shirt. I’m just wondering when will I start dressing my age, whatever that is🤷♀️. I can’t ever see myself in what a lot of my friends that are 10/20 years younger are wearing. They look like grandma clothes to me. Thank you for your interest in fashion, that we all get to benefit from!

After being a people pleaser for most of my life, I don't really care what others think of me anymore. I am embracing my graying hair (I get many compliments on it) and other aspects of aging. I typically adhere to most of your "rules." When I was student teaching this past fall, my former youth leader from many years ago was an aide. She is at least 60 years old and showed up in ripped jeans for a dress down day! I don't even know if ripped jeans were appropriate for staff, but I was just shocked! Ripped clothes just aren't a good look in general, in my opinion.

There is a difference between not wearing something because it doesn’t feel appropriate or flattering to the wearer, and not wearing something because somebody else says, “If you are over X, don’t ever wear this”-especially if the somebody else is a stranger to you. The first respects personal choice, the second is entirely predicated on what other people (might) think. I can’t endorse the latter; life is too short. If you see someone else wearing something you think is “too young for them,” mind your own business.

You may try something new but have the good sense to know whether it flatters you or not, and if you want to make it part of your personal style. As to the “no toes” thing - I don’t even begin to understand that. And from the number of people wearing flip flops here in CA - hard to see that as a trend. But cheers to those holding their own style motto. 😁

I'm 59. I do own and wear sandals and nicer flip flops on occasion but I actually prefer to wear a slip on flat canvas espadrille or a small sneaker in the summer. If I am at the beach, hanging out in the back yard, or going to a BBQ of course I am wearing sandals or flip flops. In the city though, I mostly wear flat canvas slip on espadrilles with my shorts and summer outfits. I feel like I have to have the right outfit to wear a sandal and I am very fussy about the type of sandal I will wear. It's not because I have bad feet. I have actually been told I have very nice feet and I really do like my feet. A lot of times I just think a flat espadrille or sneaker type shoe looks better (on me anyways). Never wore the ripped jeans. It always felt to me like trying too hard to be cool. It was very frustrating a few years back when ALL the jeans were distressed and I could not buy a new pair of jeans. Sooo happy that trend is finally dying.

Hi Anna, A v-neck design is universally flattering where as crew necks take away from showing a little chest skin. I no longer buy crew necks for this reason and always choose a scoop or v-neck instead. Both are so much more flattering on women. The baggy look can definitely overpower your silhouette and can come off as almost frumpy. To avoid this look, always pair a baggy item with a slender item instead. For example the baggy wide leg jeans should be warn with a fitted top to get the most of that outfit. Ripped clothes have no place in a sophisticated women's closet! I agree with you, dressing for your lifestyle is a must! Wow Gen Z doesn't want to show their toes, who knew??? LOL Yeah, you'll have to pry my sandals from my cold dead feet! I am 60 and believe for the most part I can wear a lot the “trends” (if I like them) but I will make sure they are presented in a much more classy way. I do have some bustiers, but I wear the ones that meet the top of a long skirt or pants same with “tube” tops. I like to balance with not too much skin-I think it is much sexier (don’t give it away girls😂). I also make sure the fabrics r nice. I sometimes wear a shirt or jacket. I think as we get older, how we feel is most important. My mother 81 and one of her friends have always been wild colors and prints, they enjoy them (I’m more boring and classic😂) but I love that they do them! I think the best thing is to learn what is in and then make it your own, that’s what is great about fashion❤. I love how you express to people to do what works for them individually. I think a lot of these styles that you mention are for a totally different style essence combination than what you have. You mentioned about liking to wear sophisticated clothing and more structured outfits which totally fits classic essence, which you have a lot of. :) I have noticed that more ingenue styled clothing that has been trendy doesn't work on my face and body type, in addition to advancing into my late 30s. I have a lot of classic essence like you do, and more timeless styles work better on me. :)

The problem with those high neck vests that cut away at the bottom is that it makes one look like her belly is poking through the garment, while the front panels splay out to the side highlighting the hips. I knew when I first saw this style that it was a hard no for me.

I’m not sure about the not showing the toes thing. My granddaughters are 22 and 15 and they both wear sandals. I’m in Colorado, maybe it’s a regional thing? I also think the baggie on baggie look adds weight to women. I for one, am not willing to add pounds to my frame needlessly. I think the high-neck vests would look great on tall, thin women who are not busty. Not for me, because I’m short and busty. I avoid crew necks, mock necks, and turtlenecks.

I want to look classy and show off my body shape. Not show off lots of skin or anything.

High neck vest nope, corset tops not without a jacket definitely, no baggy clothes. Emoji jewelry maybe for a 10 year old. Ripped jeans has to be very little rips and no ripped sweaters. Love sandals.

At 65 I realized my granddaughter was borrowing my clothes and I began to think I was doing something wrong. I decided with the new “quiet luxury” trend I could just trade my tee shirts for neutral cashmere and linen tees. I work from home so I also bought some high end, neutral sweatpants with matching tops. I’m still wearing ripped jeans, but my family says as long as I’m working out and in a size 5 no one should care what I wear.

I think you look great in that white high neck vest! In fact, I like it better than the ‘traditional’ vest!

A strapless top yes but corset no, unless you’re Madonna. However, I did find a corset, peplum, button down shirt at WhiteHouse BlackMarket, this past Christmas. It has the trend, but it has clean lines and a neutral color. My GenZ daughter wears all kinds of shoes including sandals. I have flip-flops and sandals, but I will admit to being self conscious only because I haven’t gotten a pedicure. 🙄😉 Long tops…..depends on the cut and how they are worn. High neck tanks I like better than a regular tank because of the cut at the shoulder. When they are cut an angle they flatter my upper arms better. (Mine are big). While I don’t wear torn jeans, for some crazy reason I think they make older women younger, but the tears must be small and few in number. Adidas Sambas were popular in the 90’s with skateboard culture. While cute they have lousy arch support and since I suffer from plantar fasciitis they are a no go for me. Back in May I turned the double nickel (55) and I see the fashion trends are changing even faster with social media than before so you may as well keep one or two trendy items tucked away because they will come back faster than they did prior to the internet. Anyway thank you for your videos they are entertaining and I look forward to seeing them every Sunday afternoon.😊 P.S. Size and state of mind also play in this as well.

Trend to avoid if you are X age: listening to other people about what you should wear
@milamila56213 ай бұрын
Why did you watch the video then? The title was very obvious. And plus she NOT ONCE said "you shouldn't wear it" all she said is "I wouldn't/ don't wear it". She actually always says in her videos "I'm not telling you not to wear it, it's just I don't do it"

We’re the same age. I hear you lol. A lot of these new trends are from when we were kids and teens. So I feel silly wearing them! I do enjoy the 90s jeans and I’m glad they’re back because I find them more flattering than skinny jeans.

That is so interesting. I'm team sandles 💯, I work in an office with 20 women & I'm the one people look to to see for fashion advice. I'm 43 so I have rules what to wear/what not to wear. In fact the ladies always ask/compliment, "Are you going out after?" "You always look well put together". I just wear what I feel really. Majority of the women my age wear sandals, but we have one Gen Z who I've NEVER seen in sandals, always in sneakers. I thought that was odd.

I am very close to my daughter in laws. I have to laugh that they are wearing the very look that was in during my high school/college days. I should have just kept my stuff and I could have given it to them💖

Ms Anna, Your video is a gem! I thank you for a lovely " ending "; word of the wise from a person who I admire a lot: you. If I may answer your question about...corset; well, do I come from Mars or Elizabethan era but...the word for me says it all: " corset" ; it is an undergarment and as such, I would not, could not...wear it as a top. Elegance is also, respect. Wearing something so (private?) personal at large does not make sense to me. (if I do...make sense??? 🤣 but it is me. I follow your lovely advice about...balance. If I wear something " larger " for the bottom, I balance the look and comfort with something tighter on top. I feel grateful about this advice of yours so...bag? baggy? I agree with you; not...so....much of a good choice for us. 😉 Again! Thank you for your video Ms Anna! You are inspiring!! (AGAIN!!!😃) helene 💕
