Has anyone else run into a van floor mistake?? If so, what was it? In contrast, did you learn something and actually avoid one of these 9 mistakes because you watched this video??

another flooring mistake: don't use reflectix for wheel wells. It's not made for this and does absolutely nothing for this build. Instead, put on sound deadening on the wheel wells. Reflectix is a radiant barrier, meaning it needs a space on the side it will be reflecting radiant heat. Using reflectix properly takes up a ton of space, it's not for a tiny car build. It can be used best on ceilings in taller vans, but there are still better materials overall that will utilize the space better and give better results. Reflectix is best used in windows for any build... then no space is needed due to the physics of a clear window and it's heat transfer properties.

Agree! Agree! Agree! We see so many van/RV builders use reflectix improperly. I used it under my house in a crawl space. For insulating vehicles my money’s on either rockwool, then foam.

I was so excited to find your channel. I have a 97 Toyota Previa with only 60,000 miles on it. Your videos have been inspiring and helpful. I’m impatiently waiting for more videos on what else your doing in the Previa. When will you post an update?

That’s so cool you found such a gem!! That’s lovely to hear. Because your comments are inspiring us to work even harder to get this stuff out for others. The Van floor video should be done in the coming days. Then our plan is to post a new build video each week covering the main topics of the build but also including finer detail things like solar, roof vent, slide out bed. Etc. So stay tuned!! 😉

My advice is don’t stress about this stuff. Don’t stress about getting anything perfect. If you mess up, if you measure wrong, whatever it is, it can be fixed. The goal is to hit the road and fixating on being perfect has delayed people for YEARS. This is not heart surgery. It’s not life or death. Put something in there and go.

Wait! I thought there was a full beginning to end guide on the floor building part. Did it wind up being easier than the insulation or something?

Yes. You’re totally right. That will most likely be the next we do. Even though we are nearly entirely done with the van build right now.

Seems to me your making this sound way more complicated than it actually is..I have a minivan but left my sidewalls up..caravan cargo model..I foamed the cracks of floor, evened out, polyiso carpet..no van is warm enuf without heat but yes, insulation helps..I also have yoga mats on floor under my bed, also on floor. Rolled up daily..kitchen on opposite side, toilet(coffee creamer bucket)that I put bags in..perfect fit n big enuf to work, small enuf to hide😉 appreciate tips tho..been in van 4 years, not a single thing built..
