While I by no means have completely grasped all ways to simplify with small children, I have learned some very useful things over the last three years of mothering, as well as being the second oldest sibling in a family of eight.
Growing up, I watched as so many mothers sunk into complete survival mode as more little ones came along.
I am determined to continue learning ways to preventatively simplify as we continue to grow our family, with the earnest desire to limit unneeded chaos and stress in every possible way.
😍👶👶👶
Hope these nine things I’e learned so far are a blessing to someone.
Please share your own tips below!:)
Here is a playlist to all my simplifying videos:

Great video 😊 One tip I actually learned this week that I'd like to share! My family has been sick throughout this week so it has been a difficult week. My two boys are ages 2 and 1 and I am pregnant with the 3rd! I have had to of course tend to them MUCH more and I have had to put most household chores off. I also got sick which made it even more difficult to have the energy to do anything outside of rest and taking care of the boys. A sweet sister from my church offered to send me chicken soup and broth. She had them both waiting in the freezer. It was a huge blessing to get the chicken soup and broth! I thought this was an amazing but simple tip!! Keep chicken soup in the freezer for any occasion the family or children get sick and it's hard to find time to put supper on the table! The house may be a mess for a couple days but at least there will be a healthy, nourishing, homemade meal at the end of the day. And the soup will be available for anyone I know that is sick or could use a meal as well!

I'm a mom of 5 and this is absolutely a fantastic thing to. I have have one little one now but I've done this for years and it's very helpful. Even if you aren't sick, taking care of sick Littles all day will wear you out. An extension of that is also something I've done for years. Once flu season starts, I make a batch of chicken soup with home made broth every week and pack it with as many veggies as you can. The combination of the veggies and broth is a big immunity booster. We eat it twice a week and in 17 years we've had very minimal illness.

As a mom of 4 littles, I can not say enough to new moms, just buy a generic dark colored backpack for a diaper bag. I have used this method for all but one of my kids. If it is an easy to clean material of you can just throw it in the wash, that is huge. And when you have more than one, having a backpack that keeps both your arms free is huge.

I have a 4 year old, 2 year old, and one on the way. One of the best things I’ve learned is to make two portions of dinner - one to eat that night, and the other to throw in a ziplock bag and freeze. Then on busy days, I just thaw one of those and throw it in the instant pot or crock pot. Six Sisters Stuff here on KZbin has been my favorite resource for this! Also meal planning. Game changing.

With two kids, a 2 (almost 3) year old and now a brand new one year old, I often find that if I'm making a fairly quick dinner or doing dinner prep, I do that while giving the baby a small snackin the high chair and letting the older toddler help with a small task. So I'll give the baby a teething wafer while the toddler butters bread. It gives me a minute to get something more complex done where I need 2 hands 😊

Awe yay! A boy! I have 2 boys, ages 11 & 8, a 2.5 daughter and another baby boy coming February. Boy clothes are super easy to be simple with. We wear jeans and t-shirts almost always. My daughters clothes have been a little more colorful but still minimal. We tend to go up and down with toys, sometimes things seem simple and fine, next they seem to be everywhere and overflowing. I guess it just happens and we declutter often.

I proudly support the Minimalist Lifestyle. My partner and I have chosen to remain childless for the time being as we’d like to retire comfortably without financial implications. Though, I think this video is quite helpful for doggie moms (especially during the puppy/ training phase). Thank you for your insight. 😇

Great tips! I’d love any tips on quiet time. We’ll be transitioning to that soon!

Of course. My three year old does quiet times instead of nap times now. She usually goes down from 1:00-3:00 all days we are home. The rule is just that she stays on her bed and isn’t too loud. She can choose to look at books, or draw, or color, and she often has her stuffed animals there as well. A couple days a week she will actually fall asleep. :) It works great for us, and I think she actually enjoys getting the time to herself. :)

Hi Sara! Can you please explain how you keep your 3-year-old in her room for 2 hours? Does she nap, or just stay in there and do things by herself? Thanks for your inspiring content :)
@BecauseitMatters
@BecauseitMatters Жыл бұрын
Yes, great question. Now the rule is just that she has to stay in her room and not be too loud. She has the option of playing with playmobile, books, drawing, coloring, mag tiles, or puzzles. I usually let her pick out two different toy options to play with during the quiet time. Sometimes she does still fall asleep, but often she just plays. :)

It's something that can take a long time to train a kid to do too- don't give up if it doesn't work out the first week😂 Also I'm not being dismissive but boys and girls are really different. I knew a mom who had two girls and she would stay after church for 30 minutes to pray with both of her girls sitting with her- then she had a boy and she was leaving church before it was over😂😂😂. You can teach your kids anything- usually the key is consistency 🥰
@kellynelson8337

@@BecauseitMatters very cool! I have managed to keep my daughter in her room for an hour but she comes out a few times. I think I need to do a better job giving her toy options. Have you described your methods of discipline (like if your daughter would come out during her quiet time, what do you do?) Also I was wondering if spending that much time alone would be bad for them? But I guess if they're really occupied, that would do no harm and probably is good for them!

@@rosepistilli223 ha! my girl is a bit more "active" than the average girl, I'd say. I'm curious how you'd answer the question I just asked Sara - if your child comes out of her room early, how do you handle it? Also how much time do you do? (assuming you're in the same situation) Thanks :)

Would you be willing to talk about discipline? Or your thoughts on physical discipline? Im against spanking but I’ve had comments made about how the Bible reinforces it. It’s hard to be judged about not choosing to spank.
