Hey. I’ve gotten some concerns, questions, even some shade for this video and I of course want to always be open and honest. Let me clear some stuff up: 1) did you copy Chloe? She’s the one who gave me this idea. Last night I texted her and asked if I could reflect her title and thumbnail and she said “ABSOLUTELY”. She watched the video and liked it! We’re best friends in real life and talk about ideas in private. In fact her brother is gonna do the CC for this video. I filmed this way before her video went live. But yeah, I linked her video and I love her a lot and she approves of this! Plus us having similar topics helps each other grow because they get suggested. She’s the best 2) you handled the dip pen badly. That’s understandable to see. I’ve never used one before, here in America we aren’t required to use one, and this was my first time ever using it.... and I was excited as heck hahah I didn’t know what was in the box, so it’s live footage of my reaction. I’ll look more into them in the future! I’ve already learned a lot from the comments feedback. And that’s it! Hope this cleared some stuff up. Thanks for reading!

It’s all good Rae, I’ve had a dip pen for months, and I STILL struggle to use it. As for copying Chloe, nobody gives a f*ck, everyone on this channel probably already loves Chloe’s channel too, she’s awesome, and so are you. So thanks for this video, I’m also doing inktober (and kinda failing) but thanks for your content, and thanks for this vid. Bye.

For those who don't know - to use a dip pen nib - soak them in rubbing alcohol before using, they are coated with a preserving oil when you buy them.
@wt62415 жыл бұрын
Does that apply to dip pens already in use too?
@luciferfaust5 жыл бұрын
@@wt6241 if you've already been using it and it's writing smoothly, it's probably already broken in, but a quick soak shouldn't hurt the nib if you want to make sure
@wt62415 жыл бұрын
Lucifer Faust TYSM I hope it helps because it actually isn‘t working very well.... my art teacher once said to use spit on it before I start using it LOL
@luciferfaust5 жыл бұрын
@@wt6241 I could kinda see that working, since spit is kind of "designed" to break things down. Anyway, just take a cap from a gatorade bottle or whatever, out the nib on the flat surface inside, and add rubbing alcohol to just above the highest part and let it be for a while. You should see little cells that shift in the liquid if there was still a coating on the nib. Then you can take it out and just dry it with a cloth gently and you'll be good to go.

@garpie64385 жыл бұрын
The box was pretty well priced for the products considering how expensive ink related supplies are. Plus it came with a limited edition sketchbook. Comparing it to jazz's box was incorrect because his was just for art in general. They both have the same value. I think she feels it isn't worth it because for one thing she obviously wasn't familiar with the pens and not interested in them.
@marymiller9415 жыл бұрын
I agree. The Copic fountain pen alone is at least $20-$30 possibly per pen or it's more expensive. Combining the Copic brand with any kind of ancient tool such as the calligraphy pens or fountain pens will lead you to an extremely expensive purchase because Copic is a very high quality brand and calligraphy pens (and everything else in the calligraphy category such as the ink) have been around since even before all 50 US states were discovered. Overall, the Inktober art box was not pricey. That was actually a good deal compared to most art boxes (excluding Jazza's art box because his was limited edition and for $100 it was a good deal.) You would be considered one of the most luckiest people in the world if you were able to buy his art box. I was not so lucky, unfortunately.

@@marymiller941 Lol the Copic Drawing Pen is terrible. It only costs about 400 yen in Japan, and around $5 USD in the USA. The other products are decent, but terribly overpriced. The box should retail for about $50 USD.

@townsennelson20434 жыл бұрын
You will have better results with the fountain pen and the dip pen if you keep the nib aligned with the paper, instead of rotating it off axis. Unlike ballpoint pens, the tipping for fountain pens is meant to be used without turning the pen very much, and dip pens have no tipping which is why the are scratchier. Another important note is that they both are meant to be used with a lighter touch then regular pens, and for the dip pens you will get cleaner lines with quick/ decisive strokes (the keeps the ink from sputtering out of the nib). Hope that helps, thanks for the vid and have a productive inktober! (if you are doing it this year lol)

Quick Tips for Nib Noobs: •Pull, never push •Dip often, swipe off excess like a brush. Surface tension keeps the ink in place. •Buy/make an oblique holder. •Use the right nib for the job (flexibility, tip shape). I recommend the Zebra G comic nib to anyone and everyone. If you don’t have a box, you should. It’s a reliable _and affordable_ flex nib that‘s ideal for well over half of what you might do with a dip pen. I love it for both illustration and traditional calligraphy - particularly Spencerian.

Priscillia in America it's almost not required anymore to even learn cursive let alone use fancy pens. Kids are starting to use tablets issued by schools more and more.....I guess only if you go to a nicer school tho. Even when I was in college 10 yrs ago I wrote in cursive and my classmates never learned how to read or write it...which came in handy because they couldn't steal my homework. Part great, part pathetic.
