The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the best of the mid to late 90s era of Disney films when they were struggling to recapture the success of Lion King. It's definitely more mature than a lot of animated films at the time, save for the obnoxious comic relief gargoyles. This really did a great job of translating a very difficult and mature story into a family film. Though how this got a G-rating (with the "Hellfire" musical number), I have no idea.

It’s truly crazy how the advertising for “Hunchback of Notre Dame” played up the comedy when the movie focuses much more heavily on the sober topics of equality, religion, and how we define humanity and morality. No wonder audiences were confused about how to take it. I’m glad it’s been sort of redeemed by time.

The original Kids' WB lineup. Where I lived, this aired Sunday mornings instead of Saturdays during the first year in the 1995-1996 season; it wasn't until Year 2 that they moved to Saturdays. However, WGN also showed Kids' WB at the time and they continued to show it on Sundays, which I liked because if I missed an episode on Saturday I could simply watch the WGN Sunday repeat.

In a time where there is turmoil, in a year that is highlighted by disease, violence, and corruption, I can always be reminded of a single, shining hope, blaring out through the darkness. A moment in history when mankind went beyond its perceived limits, when we walked among GODS. There was a time, a time that some children now don't remember, but those of us that do speak of in tones of hushed reverence, when humanity reached the absolute highest of heights and achieved a level of perfection that mere mortals can only hope to even begin to understand. WE. MADE. ANIMANIACS. WE. MADE. THE GREATEST CARTOON. EVER. 2020 CANNOT TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US.

Did Burger King have exclusive rights to Disney IPs for their kids meals around this time? I find it interesting for some reason that Burger King had the Hunchback of Notre Dame rights while McDonald's got Babe: Pig in the City.

Burger King did produce toys for their new movies for a period of time, but I don't think they had any sort of exclusivity deal...I think Disney just bid out the contracts to whatever Fast Food chain paid the most. Edit: Orlando Sentinel article from 1995 about the rivalry between McDonald's and Burger King competing for Disney IP at the time: tinyurl.com/yyyen9jd BTW the McDonald's promo here was for the original "Babe" which was a new release on VHS around the time this was recorded. "Pig In The City" wasn't released until 1998.

I think he went through different shows one right after the other as they ended. First 'The Mommies', then 'Unhappily then finally 'Malcolm' with a few direct to video movies in between. He had to have been set for life after Malcolm if he invested wisely.
