I've known a fair share of people who still recommend the 1300 series, they're cheap and reliable and have some of the weirdest 80s 90s mods for them. Also the russians too loved the Winchester 1300 series and even used parts of it for the earliest KS-23 prototypes.

I had a Defender 18 inch back in the early nineties. Harvested a deer with it, then traded it in on a Remington 870, 14 inch. MUCH handier in the woods. Thanks for the video!

Many years ago I picked up a barrel-less action for an FN Tactical Police Shotgun, which was just a rebranded 1300, and swapped the original 5-round tube for an 8-rounder. Let me tell you that is NOT an easy task, it took a very long time with a very large hammer to get it to fit in, and it's still not flush with the receiver. I just gave up trying to make it fit perfectly. Doesn't always want to run right, but... it was a $25 project gun, I'm not too sad.
@TheRealSwampOperator22 жыл бұрын
Take it to a Smith. You got the parts.hell will prob fit it for 100 bucks . Then you got a 125 dollar riot gun

there was a company named Knoxx Industries out of Paso Robles CA that made a badass stock for the 1300, the stock was skeleton frame coated in rubber that folded over the top and it had a pistol grip with a recoil spring built into it, the receiver slides back a bit over the pistol grip when fired, makes slugs feel like bird shot
@AK-47ISTHEWAY2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that vertical foregrip was made by Mesa Tactical. I used to see them in their advertisements back in the day.
@erict30322 жыл бұрын
I have one that I picked up back in 96 . It doesn’t have the stock but has the pistol grip. I have it right next to my bed for home defense. I’ve only fired it 1 time since I bought it back then. I believe they discontinued them some time ago. I read up on them that they have the fastest action out of all shotguns. I could be mistaken though.

I have a 1300 black shadow turkey with the works...8+1, sidesaddle, ATI full grip stock and short choate foreand and it is wayyyy smoother than all my dad's shotguns. An 870, a 500a1 tactical, a Mossberg 835 3.5" and his 500 bullpup. If I dry fire, I can work the action holding only the rear grip.

You could trim the back end of the plastic forend tube and extend the threads on the metal pump tube to reduce the reach to the front grip. Based on how much of a bother changing the magazine tube is on the 1200 through 1500 models I'd recommend buying another one to SBS. (It might cost about the same as buying the parts for the conversion, they were cheep guns last time I checked.)

‘80s. Got mine new in 1987. You don’t sight with one eye, use both eyes and sight along the barrel. The bead sight is all you have and all you need. Shooting skeet, use #9 otherwise the clays will fly through the pattern. The skeet center position is yours. For home defense, use #4 buck, #6 rabbit to keep the shot inside the house. It is loud. Wear ear protection. Your skeet puller will duck for cover when you step up. It sounds like a howitzer at the range. Intimidating. Use light loads to protect your shoulder from bruising. Two to three boxes at the range and tomorrow you will be in pain. Dirty Harry movie, he compared his 44 mag to a shotgun. Harry, you will have to strain the remains for fingerprints. Partner with shotgun, This will remove the fingerprints.
