You most likely lost those miles not just from heat issues, but also if you left sentry mode on overnight and it was repeatedly triggered. There is an energy monitor in your car. Use it and find out what's eating the power. A combination of sentry mode in a very active location, frequently accessing your car, and having your car broadcast its camera feed constantly, is one way to eat up a lot of power. They have gotten better at conserving the power, but it can only be conserved up to a point. But yes, you are getting your money's worth. The energy lost from your miles is being used for security, peace of mind, and battery longevity. I recommend taking a good look at that energy monitor not just for when its in drive but also energy consumed when its parked. It should show you where its all going. Might help you figure out what you can do to reduce those losses significantly. Also, I should note that the RWD version uses an LFP battery. LFP batteries have a lower energy content for their weight, a lower power delivery, BUT they have higher temperature tolerances and longer cycle life. They will lose less miles over time and suffer less from extreme heat and extreme cold. Something to consider for you prospective owners, the lowest trim has its benefits.

That was interesting Brian. I’ve often wanted to drive a T. I understand the surge of power from 0-60 is wild. Not quite the roar of our 350’s huh?😎
@DucatiDiaries3 ай бұрын
Yeah it's pretty wild to hit the "gas" and the car launches without an engine sound. I feel this car is more of a tool than a true driving experience like Mustang is. But I do like the technology and instant power it has pretty much all across the "rev range." 😆
@dangrass3 ай бұрын
also, if you use dog mode or camp mode or sentry mode this will use electricity as well. Features not available on IC cars use energy. One has to weigh the benefits of using these features versus the energy cost. I don't use the cabin overheat protection, but I do use dog mode, sentry mode, and sometimes camp mode. I find these features to be of great value and well worth the energy consumption they cause. As for the BIG WARNING, as Vincent said, just turn it off and all will be well.
@DucatiDiaries3 ай бұрын
Yeah I just tested that out today and it's such a relief. I'll have to make an update video to this one after my 450 miles home. I also turned off the sentry mode (unless I go somewhere quick like a grocery store or a "seedy" place.

That is pretty wild, the heat will just drain the battery in your tesla while parked losing up to 70 miles so I have ask, how does it do in the winter is mileage the same or worst?
@DucatiDiaries3 ай бұрын
So far, I found the winter mileage is the same. Maybe because we didn't have a too cold winter (even the Mach-E had pretty much the same mileage this winter). I'll have to experiment with the summer drain to see how much it's actually draining.

Mustang is gone. You definitely gave it a shot. I am waiting for a cyber truck but don’t know if I’ll pull the trigger. I have heard that off brand charging can be as high as $.70 a kilowatt. Let me know the highest you paid in your travels.
@DucatiDiaries3 ай бұрын
This was the first time I paid (my 6 months of free supercharging expired). So nearly 300 miles for only $24 is not bad. I'm hoping to get an S650 for the channel (a base model I can mod for content) but the channel just hasn't been making much money (like $120 on average per month) so I just couldn't afford the Mustang and the current gas prices.

wow the sun kills the battery! I did not know that. Can you tell the car not to run A/C while parked?

I think it wants to keep the battery cool for some reason. I'll have to research it some more and make another video on that topic. BC that's a pretty huge drain!

I will say it saved me about $40 on gas today at least so it seems to still be saving money. I paid over $7 per gallon the other day in NY (thankfully on my motorcycle so it was only a couple of gallons). Still insane though.
@SHADOWBLACKs6503 ай бұрын
@DucatiDiaries $7.00 a gallon ? ... you must have been in Manhattan ? Once a year I go to New Jersey for my father's Cemetery, I take the Cross Bronx past all that nonsense, if there was a nice Ev two-door, maybe I would consider looking at it, I don't want a four-door car, I know exactly what you mean by the thin glass that you mentioned, I had a Cadillac ATS and it was to my astounding surprise very noisy, and like I said this mustang I have now that could very easily call it a Lincoln LSC... its that smooth and quiet... I don't think I would enjoy a nice quiet Tesla... in my head they all come with a Joe Biden bumper sticker.

@@SHADOWBLACKs650 LOL yeah the dems need to stop pushing EV's (like in Cali where they can't even keep their lights on!!). It's ridiculous. The $7 was on route 22. The only gas station around. And they take advantage of it. But I did pay over $7 at another gas station in NY too recently. GREED!
@SHADOWBLACKs6503 ай бұрын
@DucatiDiaries Route 22 New jersey? If I remember correctly that's Union New Jersey where all the car dealerships are.. ??? .... gas vehicles have their miles per gallon on the window sticker and it's very accurate, time to start doing that on electric vehicles put that nonsense on the window sticker just like gas vehicles... you should take that car to the drag strip get a number on it and then get the performance buy-up that you mentioned , and then go back to the track, would make a good 2 videos.

really? Have owned a 2016 Prius and a 2019 Model 3. No comparison. The Prius requires 10k mile oil changes while the Tesla has no maintenance. The Tesla has been 100% reliable while the Prius experienced failed climate control system and catalytic converter. The Tesla cost me nothing to fuel since I have solar panels, while the Prius required thousands of dollars of gasoline. The Tesla is really fast, handles superbly, offers exceptional snow traction, while the Prius offered none of these things. The Tesla is the safest car made while the Prius is a "tin can" with really poor high speed handling. Suggest you own both for a while and see if you still feel the same way.
