Making us feel the pain and annoyance of the blue tooth delay you are experiencing by having us watch the last part of your video via the car audio was pure genius. Great video! @@adamrobertson7215 His phone is ancient and Apple screws their iPhone customers by installing old versions of Bluetooth on their iPhones. His iPhone has Bluetooth version 5.0, which is literally a dinosaur. My Samsung S22 Ultra, which was over 2.5 years old, had Bluetooth 5.2, and it worked great on my Model 3. I would bet Vegas money that his problem is an old iPhone that Apple installed a two-year-old Bluetooth version on when he bought it. Apple has a myriad of sneaky ways to screw their customers.

My first trip in my 2023 Model 3 Base I left with 266 range on a 192 mile trip mostly Interstate driving 65 to 70 mph. When I got to my destination I had 80 miles of range left so it looks like I could have gone 272 miles gaining 6 miles on the range. Temperature was 70 degrees fahrenheit

I loved your comment “don’t look at the car wrong”. I have yet to get the claimed 270 miles of range from my 2023 RWD Model 3. I don’t care. It’s a non-issue for me as I no longer do road trips,I don’t have a commute and I charge at home. I had gotten it because I was expecting a 110 mile round trip commute. I dodged that bullet and continue to work remotely. My use case is optimal for LFP batteries and I highly recommend them for anyone who doesn’t need the extended range, they are very easy to live with, I just plug in my car once or twice a week, charging to 100% and never give it a second thought. Kudos on a great video with solid analysis and prefessional presentation.

Just for everyone's convenience, I just bought a 2022 Model 3 RWD used a few months ago, and I have had zero Bluetooth connectivity issues with it. I connected two phones to it and both of them connected almost instantly to Bluetooth. I use Bluetooth almost every time I get in the car to listen to radio and music with no problems. It's possible that Tesla addressed this issue with a software update. It's also possible that Vidal's phone is the issue because it has Bluetooth Version 5.0 on it, which is a dinosaur - it is a very old, slow version of Bluetooth.

To be honest, the Bluetooth issue has happened to me in all vehicles I’ve owned from BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota. I figure it must be a normal thing with Bluetooth at this point. When ever I use a wired connection it works fine. I think that’s just the type of connection issue.

If paid a year in advance the $8.25/month for premium connectivity is ridiculously cheap considering that companies like Mercedes-Benz charge $30-$40/month for nearly the same features. Even Kia Connect costs $149-$200/year for similar features.

When I accepted delivery for my 2018 Model 3, they let me thoroughly inspect it inside and out. I spent about 30 minutes going through the car and found a *perfect* build. I was committed to refusing delivery if there was a single problem. But what I discovered later wasn't a bluetooth delay but instead it had a random intermittent cutting out of speakers. It sounds like the speakers go to mono quality and the subwoofer cuts out for about 2 seconds. It happens at least once with each drive. It's unrelated to bluetooth since I heard it do it even when it was playing Tesla Tutorials. Service center claims it's a known issue with the current software and are refusing to fix it. Now my car is well out of warranty and it's still not working to this day. The other issues I've had have been NVH issues (mostly creaking/moaning bushings, door strap noise, randomly cracked rear glass- everything covered under warranty. Overall the car has been good as far as reliability. I agree that the way Tesla treats its customers is lousy, but as the market loosens up over the next year they are going to soon recognize that it's not as easy to make a sale as it once was. They are going to have to address the topic of treating customers right because they will have to fight for every sale they make. "Don't worry, it's working like it should" won't be accepted by mainstream customers like it is by fanboys. I would definitely consider going outside the brand for my next car, but the Supercharger network really is what sold the car to begin with. Until all the competition has access to the Supercharger network, I don't think I could live with a non-Tesla unless I also bought a gas car.

Hey Vidal, the Bluetooth issue isn't isolated to Tesla. While I haven't had an issue with playing audio, I've only done SiriusXM, I have had issue with delayed Bluetooth audio in both my 2012 Acura TL and 2023 Acura MDX. This is especially noticeable when I'm watching an Instagram video. Even worse, our 2022 MDX Qi wireless charging doesn't charge iPhones 12 and later due to the mag safe. Never had an issue with my XS but charging was so slow that using maps discharge faster than the charging being supplied. There have been times when my phone refuses to connect via Bluetooth in my TL, wireless CarPlay not connecting in the MDX, and I have experienced this issue (once) in my Tesla Model 3 (2023). I had to cycle the Bluetooth radio in each case to restore connectivity. So, I chalk it up to being an iOS issue. I would be curious to see if Android users experience this issue.

When I took a tesla for a test drive I asked about long range and they rep discouraged it because of the battery chemistry unless I am doing a lot of long range travel because the LR charging curve means even at 80% you can charge it quickly on long trips and have quicker stops, but 99% of my use is daily commutes or 100-200 drives. I ended up with a 2023 model y from chinese factory which came with ultrasonic sensors and I am pretty happy with it.

I only supercharge as well, 40-60 minutes a week for a full charge does not impact my life at all. I love the tech, comfort, smooth driving, efficiency and style of this vehicle. nice take on the SR+. i went the used 2021 route , but didnt check the VIN properly and ended up getting the NMC battery. so mostly get around 180-200 miles on 80% charge. and yeah you are right at 100%, the range displayed was like 220-230miles. this base model is still plenty fun. TAC is all we need (maybe they should group auto-steer as well) video seems to be a non-issue for me. i dont sit in the car for long. if its charging, i am walking around , getting coffee or exploring the area around. i hope you are right. hopefully 400 miles 15 mins charge would do it for me. maybe i will get the AWD next time just so i dont get turned around by caltrans or higway patrol doesnt turn me around for not having tire chains. but i suppose its safer to not be driving in such weather in the first place anyways. the transition to EV though has been seamless. 2700 miles in like 4 weeks (took delivery during my staycation and loved exploring and discovering a new side of california!)

I had a 2017 model s and after about 3 months I shared all your regrets ..a 45k car with an 85k price tag. To your point I now have a bmw i4 and it's literally everything I hoped my Tesla would be, amazing car, luxury features, premium build quality etc, the only caveat is that the ccs network for road trips is pretty lame, but with all the nevi money Tesla is taking that likely won't be as much of an issue late 2024 and beyond.

I dont think Ive noticed a bluetooth delay that bad in my 21 m3 sr+, but to be fair I usually just do music and transfer audio for all else to my phone due t how loud the difference from music to video is. I will not however pay for a years worth of premium connectivity again unless I find myself using the apple music app that much. Here lately I've just been using bluetooth due to the lack of "Shuffle all" feature on the list of all my songs (not playlists/albums). I did get one month of FSD just to try it out. I will miss it when its gone but its been lowkey a mini headache to make sure it doesnt hit anyone or anything which it has almost dont 10 or so times.

There is an inherent flaw in bluetooth technology. Most newer devices i.e. TV's, headphones have a latency feedback feature that helps sync the audio with the playback of video however it seems like Tesla does not. Likely since they want their premium monthly subscription to be used. It's a software that can be updated but they probably will ignore it until enough people complain about it. Best way to do that is leaving a public review so everyone can see it.

@munionr

The bluetooth isn't something that can be fixed by a service center. It seems quite common with modern bluetooth stacks though. For instance, my Pixel Buds Pro have the same latency issues. (Obviously offset when dealing with audio sources that can be delayed. ie video, music, audible, etc.) It seems like the issue is with supporting a low latency bluetooth codec. Is this an issue with how they source bluetooth hardware? Some may support low latency codecs and some don't? Not sure. But I can certainly understand your frustration. Manufacturers need to be made aware that his is important to consumers.

Bluetooth delay isn’t worth the frustration. Just get the premium connectivity if you want to watch things in the car otherwise phone speakers are just fine if not a tablet. And if the speaker from your phone or tablet isn’t desirable, almost everyone has a pair of earbuds. And the fm transmitter that you mentioned could help as well. Just a lot of work arounds to let it get to you.

Nice video. The cars aren’t made the same way anymore. I had old Mazda 3 for 10 years and never had an issue with it. Switched to BMW 530e and PHEV battery started to die 6 months before end of the warranty. Was painful to deal with their service centre and my experience was similar to your. They ended up replacing half of the battery but the range never returned to what it should be. The car was 68k € new and new battery cost now 10k. They started ignoring me from that point and there is nothing else I can do without taking legal action which is not worth it after all. My point being: all dealership are just very good at selling the car but as soon as the user wants to get something repaired under warranty they turn into your enemies. I’d say all brands have their own quirks, just some people don’t seem to be bothered with stuff that others do and they keep leaving with those problems. What hurts most is when you think you spend decent amount of money to make the purchase and then you get treated like this. Avoid BMW’s

The range is def not 272 but in decent weather the way i drive? i can def do 250. I'm happy with that. My garage is my gas station too so love that. I installed the hansshow version A cable and speaker/subwoofer set into my Model 3 SR 2020. It cost about 400 bucks and sounded great. The installation was a little bit of work but they have a kind of manual for it and there are one or two good videos on YT showing how to do it. The only thing that worried me was that I read about possible warranty issues related to the car. Also, I read from people you installed the cable adapter only, that the sound was not really satisfying because the additional speakers activated used the same power line as the originally installed speakers meaning that overall volume is decreased. With the active subwoofer of versoion A I didn't notice such an effect. Regarding the BT issue: @sealion234 mentioned that the issue was solved by a software update from Tesla. Since I sadly had to sell my Model 3 I can't find out on my own if that is true. If not, you could circumvent the problem by using your phone as a hotspot and then watch videos using the car's hardware. That would also give you the benefit of having a larger screen. I definitely agree with you, though, that Tesla's reaction to the issue is inappropriate. If the issue was solved by sw update recently I think this mostly redeems Tesla. I also think that Tesla should offer an option to have the Model 3 RWD with the premium audio system. The difference in sound quality is really noticable but should be no reason for having to buy the much pricier Model 3 LR or P.

Can’t you view media directly through the software on the car to get around this issue? Every car I’ve owned has had a delay when playing media through Bluetooth and many Bluetooth headphones do this as well. It’s always annoyed me but I’ve experienced this across multiple brands of phone and car so I just assumed that Bluetooth is shitty technology that needs to be replaced with something better but maybe I’ve just had terrible luck with it. I’m more surprised the loaner didn’t do it honestly.

When I stop to charge and want to watch a video, I just unpair it from my cars stereo. Not ideal, but doesnt ruin the car for me. And I know for a fact the Chevy dealer would laugh me out of the showroom if I asked them to fix it. As a matter of fact, they'd probably just try to sell me an oil change 😅 I am sorry that experience has soured the Tesla for you. But im glad it's working out otherwise. I would of bought your exact spec if they had lowered the price to what it is now back when I bought my Bolt. Oh well.

Bummer about the BT! That seems like something that could at least potentially be fixed with an OTA update... IF they would even recognize it as an issue in the first place!

Great video, I am looking into buying an electric vehicle / I hate the look of the front of Model 3 (even the highland) and Y but that is a minor problem. The quality issue, and the service issue is now making me think that I will most likely not buy I tesla. I do not care about a supercharger...I use rental cars for road trips (I have used Tesla's and other vehicles). I wish we have serious option (Like these Chinese EV, NIO, XPeng or BYD)... In any case, Checking Bluetooth lag is added to my unconditional Checklist before any car delivery / Thanks again.

My main gripe about pretty much every driver assist feature on current EVs is you can usually adjust following distance, but you can't adjust how efficiently it drives. I would really to see that, particularly in Tesla, as it would just come in an over-the-air update. I'd like a sliding scale of "eco-minded" acceleration when using autopilot or the adaptive cruise control. I like to drive to max out my range... AND I like to use autopilot or ACC, but they're basically never compatible unless you're the only car on the road or there is little traffic in your way. Same thing with the Bolt. For example, I don't want to follow super far away from the traffic in front of me, but when it is approaching another car on the freeway, I wish it would smoothly start slowing earlier; like add more elasticity and smoothness to the way it follows traffic, because nobody wants to be in the 7-car-lengths mode when traffic slows to a crawl. I also noticed, and I really have no idea why this is, that the Bolt will default to friction brakes much more quickly when using ACC for the same (or even at times less) amount of braking force, which obviously also kills efficiency.

Battery degradation is inevitable, which is ONE of the reasons why I went with the performance. When my battery degrade to its worst, it will be around where the max range is for the Standard. So if u go with the standard, once ur battery degrades to its worst, your max range will be flirting with the high 100’s. Go with the Performance or Long Range folks, AWD is superior in every way, and ur max range will still be relatively high once ur battery degrades, especially if u go with the long range model.

I prefer RWD since pretty much all American cars were historically like that. Too bad AWD is standard in several vehicles today. In my opinion, it should be an optional feature, since it would consume more fuel and not everybody wants that, especially when they live somewhere where it never snows.

I own a 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD which I bought used with over 77,000 miles on it. I have some suggestions for you that may help your Bluetooth issue: 1. I owned a Samsung S22 Ultra when I bought the car and have since replaced it with a Samsung S24 Ultra. I have not experienced any Bluetooth delays with either phone. I play music and radio from my phone all the time via Bluetooth and it connects nearly instantly with the car. It is possible that your phone may be the issue. This is easy to check by just borrowing a friend's phone for a couple of minutes to check if it improves the response time. I would try a couple of phones from friends just to make sure that the car is the problem. Major phone manufacturers have released Bluetooth 5.3 and 5.4 . Your Bluetooth version is 5.0, which is a very old version. It is quite possible that this is causing significant delays. Bluetooth 5.0 is significantly slower than the newer versions. I am betting that this is at least part of your problem. Make sure that the phones you borrow from your friends have updated Bluetooth versions in them. Also, if you have a friend with the same phone you have, check and see how his phone works in the car. 2. I pay the $99.00 a year for full connectivity. It is well worth the price. It is possible, but not probable it may help your Bluetooth connectivity issue. Even if it doesn't it provides you numerous other benefits for a reasonable cost. 3. On my 2022 Model 3 RWD, the wireless charging pads do not immediately connect to my S24 Ultra. Sometimes it takes the car a full 4-5 seconds for the wireless charging to connect to my phone, which is very slow compared to other wireless chargers I have used. Also, when I first put the phone on the wireless charger, sometimes it doesn't connect at all. I knew this was an issue that was fixed in the 2024 Model 3 update, and so it has not bothered me too much. If the phone doesn't connect, I just lift it up and reset it, and it connects. I bought a case with a Magsafe connector and that seemed to improve the connection. The Samsung S24 Ultra does not come with native Magsafe capability. 4. Another factor that could hurt your Bluetooth connectivity is if you have your phone in a case. Some cases can interfere with the Bluetooth signal. Make sure you try connecting your phone without the case to see if it improves. I do think that Tesla should have looked at this issue while your car was under warranty, and I am sorry that they did not treat you better than they did. I will say this, from Tesla's viewpoint, they are installing the same Bluetooth receivers in all of their cars and they are working for other people. This means that logically there are only two choices that could cause the problem you are dealing with: 1. Your phone's Bluetooth signal is weak or outdated, and that is causing a slow connection. I think that this is the most probable cause of your problem. 2. The Bluetooth module Tesla has installed in your car is defective. This is possible, but it is unlikely because it is working - your Bluetooth connection is working, but for some reason it is slow. I am guessing that the module, which is essentially a Bluetooth receiver, is embedded in the motherboard of the car and in order to change the module, Tesla would have to change the entire motherboard, which would be very expensive. Here is my final thought. It is possible that your Model 3 is not the problem. That does not excuse Tesla for not at least checking this issue to verify that the car was receiving the Bluetooth signal efficiently. But you do not mention if you have made any effort to check whether your phone is the issue. Just because your phone has Bluetooth on it doesn't mean that it is a current version. Apple is notorious for putting out its newest iPhones with old Bluetooth versions. It's one reason why I don't buy iPhones. Samsung's Galaxy phones always come with the latest WIFI and Bluetooth versions. For example, the Bluetooth version on my older phone, the Samsung S22 Ultra, was Bluetooth 5.2, and that phone was two and a half years old when I traded it in. So it sounds like Apple screwed you and installed an old version of Bluetooth on your phone to save a couple of bucks because Bluetooth 5.0 is ancient my friend. The very good news is that you might be able to just buy a newer phone and it will fix your problem. I hope that this helps you.

I've finally found my twin. All your priorities are my priorities. However, I have a question. I think I want to go with the model y for the space. The space is not essential for me, I'll be coming out of college and start working full time, but the idea of being able to pop the hatch and sit in the back and chill makes me really happy. Also, I've driven a sedan for the past couple years and I've gotten kinda bored of having little space in the car. My question is; do you think it would be a bad decision for someone like me to go for the y over the 3 for the reasons I've mentioned? Thanks!
@ThisIsVidal
@ThisIsVidal Жыл бұрын
Go for the Model Y. If you’re itching for something with more space, you should get the car that’s going to fulfill that criteria and the Model 3 won’t do that anywhere near as good as the Y.

We just got a model y dual motor in the family. Have to charge the thing every other day. Definitely not getting anywhere near 300 miles like it proclaims on the screen. It's probably more around 200. Mostly city driving. I've seen a 6 mile round trip eat up 3% of the battery. on the highway, the mileage estimates are accurate. Good car. Powerful, quiet, smooth. A bit heavy. I do hope it stands the longevity test like some of the other cars in our fleet

We just picked up a '23 M3 RWD (same color) 2 weeks ago. While we don't use BT to watch videos, I just checked mine an no sync issues at all watching KZbin on my phone and listening to the audio through the car. I'm using a 2019 Samsung Galaxy S10plus so I'm not sure that's it or maybe Tesla pushed an update to resolve. Are you still having issues?

I test drove a 2023 Model 3 RWD today. I liked the car very much, but it had a weird rattle, it wasn't bad, but it was noticeable. This was a "demo drive", I mentioned it to the salesman and pointed out if I was considering that particular car that would be a real issue. If and when I buy one if it's delivered to my house and the delivery guy won't let me in the car before accepting it I'm not accepting it.

But the long range should only be charged to 80% for the most part, where as the RWD can be charged to 100%. 80% of the long range capacity is 264 miles. ;-) Im still getting 270ish, but the nature of our commute keeps our watts per mile under 200. The long range models dont add up for us at all. They cost more and only provide a better sound system which neither of us care about. Great video. BTW we have 7000+ miles on our in 4 months, yeah our commute is long.

The service techs cant do anything about the blutooth issue. Its probably a hardware limitation that the design engineers accepted, as it is intended for music. What do you want the service techs to do in their shop? Engineer a new system for you specifically? - But, it is a valid design issue. My '21 M3 has a slower infotainment computer, it's soo slow loading youtube. I just use my phone speakers... :(
