When i was a boy i used to go around with my dad visiting old junkyards and such. My dad always had car projects going on. Seems like every junkyard had a guy like Snowball. And they liked seeing kids coming around. ALWAYS super friendly. I was too young to appreciate it but i remember one old boy had a 427 SOHC cammer engine. He was trying to sell it to my dad but dad passed on it because he had a 429 SCJ to go in a mustang. We stopped there because the guy had a set of Le Mans nodular iron rods dad needed. I remembered one old boy we used to frequent a lot (he had everything) was extremely hard of hearing. My dad had to talk like he was yelling at the man. Dad told me years later the man was mostly deaf because he was an artilleryman in wwii. He saw action at the Bulge and they laid-on counter fire for so long his hearing never recovered. I could go on and on. I loved listening to those men talk. They were from a different era. Most people would look at them as if they just old country boys, but they are an encyclopedia of knowledge, especially in automotive. Those days are all but gone.

There was no badges on it so I've just assumed it was a Galaxie. I think it may have been imported from Belgium, it was resprayed lime green. My second Galaxie was a 63 RHD convertible with a 352 and a two barrel. Both unusual cars in England. Keep hunting Tom.

You need MY Ranger to do a restore; replaced cooling system, electrical (new not rebuilt), brakes have been done once, NEW 14 x 225 B R GOODRICH T/A's, Rough Country Baha shocks all round, Alpine, needs love. I'm on Social Security & don't have the money to tell time! Body in great shape! Sliding rear window perfect. Needs wax & touching up. 2.3 L 4 cyl., Iron block, aluminum head, 8 plugs 5 spd! BLOWN head gasket between cylinder & outside wall; no oil in water, no water in oil. Sitting about 2 yrs. Move occasionally to prevent flatspots on tires. Used to get 23-25 round town, 32 on road with a.c. On. AC went about 10 years ago, read window cooling since. Michael A. Doster, 770-467-0036 if you would be interested. I loved the body, thought it the best looking of all the Rangers. I bought in 1999, and drove it almost 20 years. I put over 220K miles on it. Thought it would be my last vehicle. I will miss it. Handled like a slot car! Have most of repair records somewhere around here. More money than I care to recall. But, I will miss it. My cousin still drives his 94 F-250 FWD up in the hills of North Georgia. He won't part with it! Great program, great guy with his history and Fords, really liked this one, Hagarty. Thank you!

Always heard the stories my dad would tell me about the great cars he wishes he still had. Now I'm that person. In 1989, my first year out of high school, I got a 1963 Falcon that had the body restored but the motor was original and barely ran. I painted a house for the people who had the car and they gave it to me as payment. I traded that car and $200 for a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Starliner with a perfect body and a good running 390(after a tune up). After a freeze plug rusted out I sold the Galaxie for $400 to buy a 1979 Jeep golden eagle. The person only wanted the motor and had the body crushed. Broke my heart.

A little credit to a fellow named Gene who had a junk yard right outside of Ft. Hood Texas when I was there in 71. Large yard with maybe a thousand cars and Gene knew every one of those cars. No computers, just brains. Gene was a phony gruff with a heart bigger than his head and a soft spot for GI's. I hung around that yard every night and learned more in 5 months than you could learn in 3 years in Auto school. He gave a couple of GIs credit on $200 worth of parts and when they left I told him he never gave them a bill or receipt for the parts and I was glad he knew them guys. Gene looked at me and said, "I have no idea who those 2 were". After I got off the floor I said, "how do know they will pay?" He said "most do, some don't". And it didn't seem to phase him at all. We had a friend who had a 63 327 Chevy and he left to go home to Maryland on a cold winter night. Gene called me and said Skipper broke down about in the middle of no where with his girl friend and probably need a new 4 barrel. We took the 4 barrel out of the box, jumped into the wrecker and went out into the cold Texas night. On the side of the road, about 15 degrees, with 2 flashlights, Gene put that carb on and it started on the first try and Skip and girlfriend left to Maryland and a life of wedded bliss. On the way back to Ft. Hood, I told Gene I didn't see him collecting any money and he said that's because he didn't. When I left Ft. Hood I gave Gene a few cases of Beer, he was very fond of beer, and told him I would miss him and never forget him. It is know 2018 and I still miss him. Sometimes he would ask me to take off a part and I wasn't sure I knew how and maybe he should help me. He would look at me and say, "you'll figure it out and if you don't, yell".
