Thank you so much for spending time watching this video. What comes to mind when you think about the Atlanta Braves in the '90s?

I was so bummed out when Maddox went to Atlanta. It was like the rich getting richer lol but definitely pitching and only 1 championship come to mind. Great video

I was also thinking the same thing. I liked the Braves more than the Twins and Blue Jays, but when they got Maddux and McGriff, I was thinking this is ridiculous, the rich is getting richer. Maybe I should have mentioned, only 1 championship, more when I talked about the playoff losses. But interestingly, I was cheering for the Yankees in that 1996 WS, because of how great ATL was, but I never would have guessed how successful the Yankees would have been afterward, then I couldn't stand the Yankees after that '96 WS and my love for baseball really dwindled (I hope a video about that will come out soon). Thanks for liking the video. I am so grateful for your support. Coming in the fall or winter, that Clem Haskins video. Have a great holiday.

Growing up in Savannah I was always a Falcons and a Braves fan. My then girlfriend was not a sports fan but, she would watch a game with me here and there. That was until she watched the 92 NLCS with me. The neighbors heard her yell during Sid Breams slide. From then on she was on the couch with me anytime I watched a game. I will say that watching the team of the 90 dominate the regular season year after year was awesome. Then watching them walk away with only 1 world series win during that run was more heartbreaking than watching the Falcons get stomped on most Sundays, and I loved them best of all! Their pitching staff alone should have gotten them at minimum 3 world series championship rings during that decade.

Thank you so much for your comment. I really enjoyed reading it. I really like the Sid Bream story. I hear great things about Savannah as I have much love for Savannah, GA. I'm sorry but I have to say, that '91 Falcons team was quite entertaining and good ( I really have to do a Jerry Glanville video soon ). But anyways, I wish the team I love the White Sox, were half as good as your Braves. You mentioned that the Braves should have gotten a minimum 3 WS titles, and that's why it was so stunning when ATL lost in the NLCS those 3 years and then in the '96 WS. They were that good. Thanks again for your comment, enjoy the rest of your summer.

Top 5 for me: 1) The Gigantic Outside Strike zone established and beat to death by the Braves stellar staff. 2) Tomahawk Chop 3) Skip Caray and the rest of the commentators 4) Playoff choking. 5) Summer Time High School years.

Thanks for the comment. I got a good laugh with your #1. I needed that after a long day at work. I don't want to get in the middle of anything, but Cleveland fans might argue that the Braves had a huge strike zone during the '95 WS, but nonetheless, that Eric Gregg strike zone in during the 1997 NLCS was quite memorable. I don't think I ever saw Fred McGriff show emotion, but he showed the emotion of being shocked during that '97 NLCS after being called out on strikes. Furthermore, your #5 is also great, in fact, it's better than great. Thanks for your Top 5, I really appreciate it.

I loved this Atlanta team, it was hard to root against them in 91 WS vs Twins but Twins/Kirby Puckett was/is my favorite team in all

Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching the video. I know the '91 WS was worst to first with ATL and MIN, but I remember MIN in the '87 WS as ATL came out of nowhere. But what I want to say, is that I cheered for ATL because they came out of nowhere, and cheered against the Twins because my dad loved Kirby Puckett (I liked to cheer against the teams my dad liked). But Kirby was quite the ballplayer. Thanks to you, you prompted me to write down Kirby Puckett as I hope to do a video on him later. Thanks again for the comment as I enjoyed reading it.

All I remember about the Twins World Series games was Kent Hrbek yanking Ron Gant off first base and the ump calling him out. I was so mad!

i was a huge Atlanta Braves fan in the 1990s... first they were in the playoffs a lot, then as a Cubs fan they signed Greg Maddux... one reason i suspect the Braves struggled in the playoffs is Manager Bobby Cox would put ZERO Offensive Talent Mark Lemke in the #2 hole,, they were good enough to overcome this nightmare in the regular season but not the playoffs...

Thanks for the comment and thanks for being a subscriber. You mentioned Mark Lemke, and I was wondering why the Braves stuck with Lemke for so long at 2B. Now there may be reasons like leadership and a great clubhouse person (and supposedly Lemke was very popular), but you would think ATL would be able to upgrade at that position. I liked Lemke early on (especially during the 1991 World Series), but I think you made solid points about Lemke. Thanks again, enjoy the rest of the MLB season.

my list 5: Mercker 4: Avery 3: Glavine 2: Smoltz 1: Maddux

Thanks for your Top 5. I never would have guessed that Kent Mercker would ever make a list like this but I like it. I love seeing names like Kent Mercker. Moreover, I understand my favorite Braves pitcher Steve Avery, has no chance of cracking that top 3. But I'm glad he's your #4. Thanks again and have a great summer.

I’d like a video ranking the 90’s Super Bowl championship winning teams. 8 juggernauts. 91 Skins, any Cowboy team, 94 9ers, the 96 Packers scoring the league’s most points while allowing the fewest and 2 all timers with the 98 Broncos and 99 Rams for the cherry on top.

Thanks for the comment once again. I will write your recommendation down. That list is a tough one to complete. I might say that 94 Niners team is No. 1, after that 40-8 loss to the Eagles, San Fran changed their unis and were unstoppable. I remember Shaun Gayle really popping Steve Young in the endzone during that Bears - 49ers playoffs game. I like your analysis on the teams. I could make an argument for all of them except for the 90s Giants. Thanks again for the comment. Enjoy the upcoming Bears season.

@@90sSportsNostalgia Going off the stat sheet the 91 skins are the clear cut #1, than the rest is up for grabs as you can make a compelling case for any of the other 7 teams. One thing I’ll say regarding the 99 Rams opponents had a cumulative 93-163 record with the easiest regular season schedule of any superbowl winning team. Come playoff time facing playoff level teams won nail biters in the conference championship and superbowl. The least dominant postseason of any 90’s juggernaut. Bears seasons and enjoyable don’t often collide in the same sentence.

Besides the Yankees, I do wonder how much the Atlanta heat takes a toll on the players come October. Their 2 World Series championships came in a strike shortened season and the season following the truncated 60 game 2020 season.

@@90sSportsNostalgia That’s my theory on the Cubs World Series drought. Playing over a third of your season at 1:20 first pitch every season until the early 2010’s will take a toll on any team come September-October in a hot and humid Chicago summer. They didn’t install light until 1988. The 69 and 84 teams exhibit A.

It seems they should have won more than 1 championship during that Bobby Cox years after they went to 2 WS early on; but as a White Sox fan, I could only dream that the White Sox could be as good as the Braves from an organizational standpoint. Thank you so much for the comment and thanks for watching the video.
