Here's what Nobody Says about PDK.... PDK Makes left foot braking easy to learn/do. Left foot braking, ina Cayman is actually way more engaging, on a good road, than left foot clutching. Cayman and Boxster very sensitive to braking input, you learn to do little left foot dabs on the brakes just to shift weight as you enter every corner, super fun and engaging.... Also, I've heard pro racers say, You can't win a race without left foot braking, so if you're interested in being competitive, learn left foot braking. Left foot braking with a clutch is just a busy PITA.

It’s easier to left foot brake with ANY automatic car. Pro race drivers say you can’t win a race without using left foot braking, but they’re using automatics. Race cars with 3 pedals don’t always mean a clutch action for every shift, or even most shifts. The clutch in race cars is used to get going, then that’s it. Straight cut gears mean no clutch action as long as they’re at high enough RPM.

As a Porsche fan that currently owns a 997.1 x51, I’m super excited about the new GTS. The tech is awesome and very much motorsport inspired. I was optimistic when the rumors came out it would be hybrid and got excited when they announced the GTS. I can’t wait to get a chance to drive it

😂 Gotdamn, yes Zack, we do care about shifter feel on motorcycles. It fucks up the experience just like in a car if they're bad and clunky transmissions can also cause missed shifts.
@VS666

yeah, nothing worse than a quickshift that misses or gets stuck in neutral easy (KTM/Husq, looking at you!) doesn't give you confidence when going fast
@tonys.568

But to be fair, motorcycle sequential transmissions are generally clunky. You don’t want to shift too hard ( you can bend the transmission rods) and you don’t want to be soft, it may not go into gear. But almost every bike going from N to 1st is a giant CLUNK. Thats just a sequential transmission. Car sequentials same clunky feel…

I've had the exact opposite experience with 992.1 "Normal" mode after DDing a C2S for 4 years. I've found the shift logic is the biggest PDK improvement vs 991, with Sport mode less necessary. It's freakishly good at adapting to situation. Drive slow, it maximizes efficiency and smoothness (but doesn't bog). Drive more aggressively, it *immediately* holds gears. Slight incline? Downshift. It does upshift at low revs, but that's because the turbo makes so much power down low. I wonder if the 992 Matt drove needed a PDK learning reset? Regardless, I'm very excited about the new T-Hybrid. I'd love it for city driving. I'm interested to hear US-spec ones without the particulate filter.

A manual 997 Turbo is a car you can buy now under $100k, drive 5-10k over 2-3 years, and not lose money on. You can basically take that to the bank. The last manual 911 Turbo will always be in high demand. Also incredibly reliable and cheap to insure compared to many other cars in its class. Plus it's comfortable, and you just slap the new Porsche Classic PCM retrofit in it and you have all the modern infotainment amenities.

In-period the top speed of the F1 was always reported as 231. There was a magazine, maybe c&d or R&t that had a 2-teen test they performed. The Andy Wallace 240 test never got any attention until many years later, well after the values of the cars started to take off

I wonder why Porsche decided to call this a hybrid? Like, I know technically it's a hybrid, but not in the traditional sense. Or the way most of us think of "hybrid" cars and trucks. So why call it a hybrid and take on all that baggage and rely on journalists to say...."wait, wait wait, it's actually really good!" Why not say, "here's the new 911 and it's got some really interesting new tech...."

Yes, 100% motorcyclists notice a difference in shifter feel. Try riding an old boxer BMW or harley and then switch to a modern anything from Japan, there is a huge difference. The overall feel of the controls, clutch, brake, throttle, all make up part of the experience and you can absolutely tell a difference. Even between the same manufacturer, there can be stark differences. I did a Yamaha demo day once a rode an MT-10 and R1S back to back, and it was night and day, the controls on the R1 were infinitely better than the MT-10.

I feel like basic Carrera and Carrera S will be quite good. Because they're receiving the bigger turbochargers from the previuos gen GTS. You can already do easy 500hp 992.1 with the simple remap. With the 992.2 it will be more for sure. And you can have it with the manual gearbox.

I don't think you can put a regular battery in a Bentley. And I am positive you can not drop it in yourself. Even older cars of much plainer descent have to get a new battery coded to the car. The car will not realize it has to handle the battery differently if you do not do that and your new badly installed battery will leave you stranded in less than a year. BMW 5 series come to mind.

I agree with Matt on people who only buy secondhand having a vote in how new production cars are configured. What options cars come with are largely dictated by NEW CAR BUYERS because that's basically how goods economics work, anyone who complains that system is not fair to secondhand buyers are being obtuse.

Donnie update : The owner of a Black Testarossa that is still in the hanger with 10 other cars is according to Donnie's lawyer "in a million pieces" is now unable to get access and with other cars in dispute with who officially owns the car as this is also claimed by Donnie as his own, plus other people who removed cars have taken their own pound of flesh for money outstanding which may or may not be Donnie's or a customers car. As the Testarossa was leased and the owner himself handed him the keys this is also complicating things. There is also a grouping of owners of the remaining cars as it is a rental hanger the risk is the landlord ceases things if rent is not paid and the ongoing $4mil that the Belgian wants. They have been told that it could take up to 2 years to get their property back at the moment in Arizona.

I think the question about the take rates of new manuals and buying used manual cars needs a bit more to it. If you had the money to buy a manual Ferrari but got the auto instead and then complain about Ferrari not making new manuals then yes, you have no place to complain. But if you dont have the money to buy new but you can buy a manual thats maybe a few years old to get in on the hobby then i think you have the right to complain a bit about manual options.

@vvevvevvvv not to just keep going back and forth, but i love the LM002. I wasn't comparing it to that. To me, the styling of the CT looks vaguely like a Lamborghini Countach. Very vaguely, lol. In the sense that it's a simple wedge design with a short front, and it looks like it could have been a mid-engine truck.
