Fantastic video Jakob! Every Thursday is worth looking forward to. Thank you for sharing your experiences with your 993 C4S. As I watch your artistic video productions I always come away inspired and energized! Keep up the great work friend!

Nice production quality and info. :) If caliper refinish isn't part of the plan I leave the brake lines in place and just support the caliper, that saves a lot of time and mess. Keep up the good work!
@911Percent7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Robert! Definitely, if caliper work wasn't necessary, swapping pads shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes a corner! :)

That's fair. I request that you make a video documenting the replacement of motor mounts :)

Another nice vid. I always thought this would be something like a 6 out of 10 but you make it so easy. Looks like I gotta get a big screen for the garage so I can follow step by step. Thanks!
@911Percent7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bob! It's probably a 6 haha..I'm running into snags! Just ran into a 500 dollar one haha. The damn brake pad slider clips should be replaced in the calipers and are $60USD a piece x 2 per caliper x 4 calipers FML. #porschetax

i found this absolutely mesmerizing! A) the fact you have the tools and know how to do it B) the level of detail in video shot, attention to detail in the actual product. I cannot wait for Part 2 & 3!

Jakob, when you first started making vids I subscribed way back when and I enjoyed them then but to look at the stuff you're making now - awesome and inspiring! You'd better finish this job as promised as I'm going out to get tools and parts this weekend! TJ

Thank you so much MrTokyoJoe1! These videos will be posted randomly unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to post the next DIY installment for at least a few weeks! Anyway, thanks again for watching! Take care!

Great first DIY video Jakob! Precise information and details, including text, speech and amazing background music - keep continuing this style and efforts, it's worthwhile for the ww 993 community and enthusiasts! And thank you for your time - I hope your family is ok with this :-)

Thanks for watching Daniel! I actually have a few DIY videos on the channel already; an Oil change video as well as a Transmission mount replacement video! This is just the first part of a 3 part series. Happy to hear you're enjoying these, and I'm happy to help out the 993 fam in one way or another! Cheers! (Family is asleep when my 911% shifts start, lots of sleepless nights my man, it's the grim side of KZbin haha).

Thanks Jacob! I have 993 - The Essential Companion and have read how to do this but lacked the courage to do it. After your vid it seems a lot clearer. I'm gonna give it a shot! Cheers!

Thanks so much for checking it out! Good luck tackling this, it's not very hard! I have that book too, it's amazing, but not very thorough as far as a step by step. Another great resource is the online Porsche 993 PET PDF that someone hosted. It's amazing to see all the components in exploded view with all part numbers. Take care! :)

Very nice Jacob! Very informative, especially the scale of difficulty for a novice DIY mechanic.. Now I can repeat this on my own 2003 996 C4S which I assume is almost 100% identical (the brakes that is of course ;-)). Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Thanks so much for watching and the comment!! The calipers are quite different on your car vs mine!! I bet the idea is the same, but you have a pin that holds your pads vs that spring on mine. Definitely cross reference a 996 DIY! Cheers!!

Super nice video as always! You make DIY really fun! I like how organized you are too with a place to put everything and even the hose plugs ready to go. You are the best! What do you think about soft line replacements at this time? Is that a thing now or maybe Next brake rebuild? Franny
@911Percent7 жыл бұрын
Thanks guys!! Organization is key lol! My plan was to upgrade to stainless steel lines, but after reading a bit into it, it's a risky procedure to DIY. I will most likely get these done at a shop one day. The rubber lines on the car are all intact so pointless to change immediately. :)
@ftlaud9117 жыл бұрын
Very nice DIY...you going to replace with SS lines? Heard that was tricky to do on the 993. Thank you for the videos. Very relaxing to watch. Good vibes. Keep em coming!!!
@911Percent7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, at some point, but not in a rush to. I'll get those done at a shop to avoid possible damage of hard lines in the rear (a common occurrence).Thanks so much for watching! :)

The brake discs did look fine (at least from video) :) Did you measure them before deciding to change them? Great video as always!
@911Percent7 жыл бұрын
They looked fine, but they're not. The previous owner (flipper/importer) changed out pads without machining the rotors so the contact wasn't the greatest. There aren't any cracks, and I'm sure they're still within thickness spec, however they're grooved up all over. I wanted to start fresh with all new components. Thanks for watching!!!

911Percent vacuum bleeder then finished it off with the traditional two person method.

Cool, I'm doing the same with a Motive Powerbleeder, but going to do a dry method with two people. I wish there was an easier way. :)

Great job as always, I'll be following your lead in a few months, my calipers are long overdue for a repaint. Our cars are long lost twins, mine's also a '96 c4s in midnight blue metallic with a . My 4s is in the middle of a conversion to a RWD 2s-like car for a more spirited drive on the track. This will require a new LSD etc... I'm having the frame straightened (it was shunted in it's earlier life) Of course the clutch, ignition wires and shifter will be upgraded/replaced at the same time. I'll let you know how it feels after the conversion. Because this car has a history I don't feel terrible lightly modifying it. I can't wait to get it back, they're incredible cars. instagram me for more images of your Vancouver twin - grants911
