Very nice, I was hearing in my head the A-team "I love it when a plan comes together." My tortie is looking out the window completely disinterested in the video. She adopted me through the cat distribution system basically walking through my front door one night and meowing feed me. 10 years later, she has a butler, multiple lounging spots, a meal plan, and medical coverage.

I actually like the look of the transmission support tubes, it fills the space better and it just seems like it would geometrically make the strongest mounting point. Form follows function!

Thanks for the support! I'm coming around on the look. And as I'm working up a plan for the exhaust, the struts may end up doing double duty as exhaust mount locations, so there's that.

Looks like you might be able to use those struts as a place to anchor some exhaust brackets. This car is going to scoot.

Maybe a heim joint on one end would have helped with angles and fitment ?

Yep, I looked at using those but wanted to see if I could keep things cleaner looking. The good news is I can always swap out the ends to heims, should I decide to go that way. And yes, it would have made the fitment much simpler. But what fun would that have been? ;-)

I had a 54 beetle body so I built a tube chassis and am using a Passat/A4 1.8t and transaxle moved to the mid position. It’s been a long term project. I’ve been going through all you videos and have picked up so may ideas.

is modifying the rear control arms to make the hole the CV boot is in oval in the vertical plane? looks like there isnt anything in the way above there that stops you strengthening the top surface after suc a mod? control arms look like multipart welded construction only so should be a safe mode to also cut and weld.....

Possiibly but far simpler and faster to swap out the boots.

Have always loved the under appreciated 914, it is probably gonna feel amazing to drive, maybe not a Rolls Royce suspension feel but corner hugging euphoria for sure!
