What did you have to do to make the ignition switch mount up to the steering column
@kmvguy Жыл бұрын
Ignition switch is just held up by a small metal bracket on the steering column but i did have to delete the steering column locking in order to get it to mate up.

whats the measurement for the bracket for the pivot mount? and is it really not possible to mount without removing the oem center mount?

I do not have the dimensions for the pivot mount. EPAS motor is pretty big so, I don’t think it’s possible to mount the column without removing the OEM center mount.

By the way, if you remove the OEM center mount out by drilling the rivets, it is completely reversible down the road by mounting it back up with nuts and bolts or welding it back up.

@kmvguy Жыл бұрын
currently it’s just straight to battery for the motor/column. module/ecu is on the ignition switch power source.
@xellmie3890 Жыл бұрын
How and where did you get the power to power the EPAS module?
@kmvguy Жыл бұрын
power to the module is just tied directly to the key ignition wire. but it can be any 12V ignition. that wire is only a signal for the module. the main 12V is directly connected to the battery with the inline fuse.

I’m not sure how it will mount on a EK to be honest. Did you figure aot the return to center issue?
@kmvguy5 ай бұрын
This car is still a long term project and i’ve not put much miles since i did the EPAS. I did add about 1.9 degree of caster but that did not help at all. But to be fair, i’ve not had this car aligned since the rack swap, and i know for sure my toe setting is off. I recently started to work on this car again. So i’m going to slowly update my forum thread again soon.
@Michaelcsok Жыл бұрын
Did the return back to center ever get better?
@kmvguy Жыл бұрын
Not yet. I believe the problem is the amount of OEM caster on these chassis. I’ve talk to other people that has the setup on different cars and they run around 4-5 degree caster and have no issues with steering returning to center. EG/DC chassis only have about 1 degree of caster from factory. And I’m aiming for around 4-5 degrees of static caster, when I finish all my suspension.

@@etnieslolz You don’t need the clock spring but the clock spring make it easier for me to integrate the horn, steering wheel control and the combination switch. clock spring has the slot for the combination switch, so the left/right indicator would turn off after making a left/right turn. it would kind of drive me crazy not to have the horn working nor auto indicator turn off. steering wheel control is also nice to still have.
