I see the vision. I respect the effort that went into this. I’m not sure I would have picked a first generation GM electric power steering drive in terms of steering feel

We opted for the vue column due it being a bit more powerful than say a Prius column. Given the wide tires and tighter STI steering rack. But yes the steering feel will take some getting used to. But we can turn it all the way off as you can see in the video lol then we’re back to where we started 😅

Same boat here. Removed power steering from my 1st gen Impreza when I swapped with the stand alone. I like that the engine bay is much cleaner without the pump and hoses but the steering is a bit heavy. I still have 205s so not as bad as 275s but would be nice to add the quicker rack and have less effort to steer. Doesnt look too terrible to install. It is nice to know there is enough room there to fit it in that location.

You can also just install an "Astra" electric power steering pump look them up on youtube

Use a Prius steering column, there's a writeup for the xe10 chassis. Should at least be a bit similar if not the same

@@syzeification yeah I ordered the Prius column already 04-09. Should be here in the week. Fabrication soon start, tired of failing the oem pumps

I used a electric power steering pump and put it in the trunk but I so wish I did this

Instead of fixing your hydraulic steeering where you have all the steering feel you do eps instead. I just don't get it.

We can still have all the steering feel simply by switching off the electric motor.

Between 2-$300 in parts. But a lot a of custom pieces had to be made.
