I followed your guide to fix the water pump in my 1998 Suzuki X90, same motor. It worked perfectly and also solved an idling problem I was having. Thanks

+chas ward Glad I could help! I'm just a backyard mechanic, but we tend to get the engines running again!

Mines purring like a Kitten. The only problem I had was with the spring and timing pulley. I took the adjuster off and attached it to the pulley for installation and then hooked everything back up. Worked great. Anyway, thanks again. It was nice to have a visual. :)

The timing is based on the 4th piston, I have a 91 with a 8V, and a 95 with a 16V. I had to do the same exact thing with my 95 and the timing is also based on the 4th piston I believe. My 91 has been beaten to the point my rings are starting to go out, its engine had never shook that bad before. Just some friendly advise, I would go and tear it back down and time it to the 4th because you can possibly screw up the valves/rods. And you would see a major power and mileage increase also once its properly timed.

+Ryan Thompson Yeah, the car isn't being used right now. But we'll probably want to fix that. Live and learn!

i got a question for you.What's the different with the ABS and NON ABS 1996 geo tracker shocks and will the abs shocks fit the non abs geo tracker?

Shakiness may be from valve adjustments out. Solid lifter motor. I top out each cylinder and adjust to 1/4 turn loose from lash. Suppose to be .006~.007".. That's on a '94.. Runs like a clock and 295k miles!

it from the timing being out...I believe you set it to the 4th cylinder for TDC.

My engine did that, no compression on #3 cylinder. New rings and you will be good.

Please do not follow this tutorial if you are doing a timing belt change. These guys screwed up the job.

Nice Job you left radiator fluid on the gears that would just go on the timing belt and degrade it.... FAIL!
@poohbear16339 жыл бұрын
Another fail you flush out the entire cooling system not just the radiator. You wait till everything is back together and flush the entire system including the heater core. and do it while the car is running...FAIL!

He didn't do nothing to hurt the car. He fixed the problem. It was running rough before he touched it. He wasn't trying to fix that. That's just something he noticed afterwards. the point of the video was the water pump which he did fine

FAIL. Advancing the timing using the distributor when your timing belt is off a couple of gear teeth will cause pre-ignition, damage the valves and eventual engine failure. Let me guess, this thing is dead now? Just because your timing light tells you the firing is correct does not mean your valves are opening at the right positions. Being one tooth off or a bit more can eventually cause burnt valves rough running and eventual loss of compression.
