Their “fan meetings” are huge full-blown concerts actually. They’re called MUSTERS, and are held annually as separate events in Korea and Japan. They perform all sorts of items, including old songs and skits, and it feels intimate. So the programme is different from the album tours.

The other song is "I was Able to Eat" originally by Homme. Homme is a group with 2 singers, Changmin and Lee Hyun. Lee Hyun is BTS senior. Now he is a solo singer in Big Hit. While Changmin is a member of 2AM, another idol group under JYP Entertainment.

Fan meetings (a.k.a. "Musters") are like concerts, but the set list is not as song focused. There are games, commentary corners, guest hosts, and silly things like the "Otsukare" songs. For some other kpop groups, the boys dress up as girls and do a girl group song cover or vise versa. Fan meetings are great if you want to listen to B-side tracks live. So, there's a lot of fan service compared to a concert, which is geared toward the general public, with title songs and their current album promotional set list. Sidenote: "Otsukare" is what Japanese people say as a common greeting. There is no direct translation since English users don't use these Japanese greetings on a regular basis, but the closest would be "you've worked hard" or "thank you for your hard work". People in Japan say "otsukare sama desu" when starting work to say "hi", when showing appreciation for someone's hard work, or before they leave work to say "bye". kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXjUpaVtrMd3pcU So here, Suga and Hobi (S+OPE= SOPE) are just showing their appreciation to J-ARMY for all the hard work they've done to help BTS soar. I think the title was just playing on the word "soap me", so the "ME" doesn't mean anything per se. I'm surprised you didn't watch the one with ALL the members! Otsukare sama deshita - they would say this to the staff after their Japan concerts...sort of like saying thanks for all your hard work. at one point they started singing it to the staff. and then it became a song that puts a smile on my face every time I hear it :)

HI Chalfant again, am trying to help the part of your short scene when BTS did a muster in Japan. ( I speak and understand Japanese, I am Indonesian, though). Since it's very short and I remembered in this mMuster they spoke few things, so actually what appeared in that scene onky, JHope just mentioned " hey Amy, next song is the one ( that hopefully you (will still like it - since Otsukare is full in Japanese, usually they sang many BTS song in Japanese too). ". (Japanese and korean language using so much nuances & illeterally don't say things . But both parties in doing communication, usually know well. Or understand well by what particle get usec in the sentence . Aside the written Kanji (Japanese) or Hangeul (Korean). To me, your OTSUKARE reaction really made me smile wide ang sing while watching!😆😉. I was found Otsukare in 2018! At that time it just appeared in YT thumbnail and I just enjoyed watching and singing very simple Japanese song. Aaaaand I thought they are Japanese.😃😂! I became BTS army after watching RM speech in UNGA- NYC in " generations unlimitec". Otsukare was created in 2016. Otsukare is copyrighted in Japan and Jhope wrote the luyric together with Fujibayashi Shoko (lyricist who erote for 'Kamen Rider's movie's theme song (CMIIW). Melody by Suga during their previous tour .

From what I gather from jdrama and manga, etc, otsukare sama deshita "you've worked hard" is one of those phrases that is said automatically to be polite. You say it to coworkers, employees, service workers, at day's/job's end for standard etiquette like "thank you". Korean has like, 9 ways to say "good job". Most commonly I've heard sugohaesseoyo. There are tons of similar polite phrases in Asian languages: In China, they say ni hao ma "have you eaten yet?" for the standard greeting, and the Korean bap meogeosseoyo is the equivalent affectionate greeting. Bon appetit in French, Itadakimasu in Japanese, and jal meokkessumnida for Koreans have an "I will eat well" sentiment before a meal. Again, Korean has a bunch of variants. Koreans introducing themselves in a new school/work situation say Jal butakhaeyo, "please take good care of me" to their superiors/senior colleagues. I don't think we have as many of those phrases in English. There's how do you do, have a nice day, how are you? but I don't think it is as much a part of our culture. It was painful to use romanized translations for the Korean but I'm too lazy to paste the Hangul in! (If you learn the Korean alphabet, it is actually so much easier to read it - even if you don't know what you're reading. I'm not being snobby, I promise. I just like accuracy.)

The other song they sang was by Homme, a duo that's their seniors. "I was able to eat well." Fan meetings / Musters are concerts as well, though there are more fan interaction than normal concerts. "I was able to eat well." There is an OT7 version of Otsukare that's nice to watch too, they're in Blue and Pink. It's an actual performance and not just them clowning around.

Folks are saying that Hobi wrote this with Suga's input but I haven't read where BTS confirms this so I could be mistaken. Regardless, the writer is so smart. Otsukare is musically written similar to Korean trot songs and the meaning, though literally translated to "being tired", actually is a polite office greeting of hello/goodbye/thanks as in "goodbye and thanks for your hard work". We can see how that would apply to ARMY. Btw, I love it when Hobi sings.
