"I didn´t know your meaning then at that time, I was happy only looking, I remember that time near the end of Elementary School, the time when my eight finally became taller than your eight" . (First love = first music love) ... Then he shows an interval with his piano (his music), and then he picks up at 14 again. "When I met you again, I was 14 years old". But the next part is very deep and something that Yoongi repeated in his raps. "I remember that time at the end of my teens....now they are momories clutching my smashed shoulder"..."when I´d fallen into the pit of hopeless, desperation and despair"... I believe his love for music was the things saved him. and about his shoulder.... in 2020 Yoongi had surgery because he couldn't even hold a bottle of water, this man had been suffering for years but he didn't give up, he was dancing and performing while he was in pain. He is a HERO. and I hope this surgery makes him feel better for ever!!! But my heart was broken when grammys was over and he tweetted "I will work more harder for next year" ...thank you so much Chalfant to give Yoongi songs a pretty time in his birthday months!!!!

His piano didn't judge him, didn't bully him, didn't demand anything from him, and was always there when he needed it. he could always express exactly what he was feeling into music that he couldn't into words. the "I feel so nice mom I feel so nice" gets me every time. his voice just sounds so happy and sad at the same time. he sings like he's going to lose his voice, like he's going to burst in tears, to explode...thank you chalfant!!!!

When I first heard this song and read the lyrics, I bawled. Like, snot running down bawled 😂 This song was what made me love Suga so, so much. For me, the piano was my mom. I cried so, so hard. He has a way of making all of his lyrics so personal yet relatable. It’s like my mom was the piano telling me, “It’s okay. You’re going to grow up and become distant from me but just know I’m still going to be here, loving you, supporting you, no matter how much time passes.”

Suga's admiration for his piano is his passion for rapping and music. I read something interesting about this song: "nowadays you don't get to listen to quality like this. So many songs flex their money, sexual life and drugs. Here you have a rapper, making music compared to nothing. This is what music should be about. Not staff like sex it seems as if when people frown upon kpop, they don't listen to the music and Quality. This world people don't focus on the Quality, this is the trend that matter now" I can hear Suga pain in his voice. This piece of art is beautiful. Thank you!

Hearing this song is like a “try not to cry challenge” for me, and I fail every time! It’s an amazing song but I listen to it rarely for that reason. Suga’s passion in his rapping and the way it just builds and builds is just...wow.

Yoongi said he was working on his first mixtape and on First love at the same time, so it was intense for him and he was burned out after releasing it. Every life performance of it is very emotional

This is one of my fav Yoongi solo's. Btw, every song in the Wings album is a masterpiece including this. The songs are tied to the BU but it's also their personal stories. It has so many layers and it blends beautifully.

In an interview on the Wings concept book, Suga refers to the piano he played when he was young and his only friend. He said he cried a lot when recording the track.

Thank you, this is one of the most heartfelt lyrics ever written and you're right in that this song is about his love for his childhood piano and his love for music but it can be applied to different aspects of love. For some romantic love or spiritual love. Sometimes we fall in to love, get distracted and lost, then come even stronger. His lyrics helped me rethink what important to me, and work for it. This is the best live performance I found. It is not great specially the beginning as he/she films the concert screens rather than him and some out of focus, but it gets better. The end is great as we can se Suga disappearing of scene with his first love into the pit of the scenario. It almost feels as human to human love. Ah this song it does always gets me so emotional.
