They are not telling the truth. Indian stared war in east Pakistan on night of 20 / 21 November 1971. Indian army attacked Hilli and Dhalai in east Pak. Indian army moved up to 20 kms inside a east Pak from all sides before official War started By West Pakistan on 3 December.

But let's not forget - at that time, India was also dealing with other fronts like Kargil. So were those soldiers' deaths for Bangladesh's independence? The truth is, the Mukti Bahini, under the leadership of Gen. M.A.G. Osmani, played the most critical role. With 12 sectors and commanders like Ziaur Rahman, Khaled Mosharraf, and KM Shafiullah, they coordinated effective guerrilla warfare. Politically, Tajuddin Ahmad led the way to ensure our victory. The Indian Army managed the situation but took much of the credit afterward. We Bangladeshis are not fools - stop saying India "won" us our independence. If you call it help, many countries help each other during wars. India just over promotes its involvement. Let’s give credit where it’s due - to the brave Mukti Bahini and the people of Bangladesh
