Because he showed you the wrong way. They're a press fit fitting. Just get the right tool and you keep the nut in the case but pull tubing from it.

Thank you! Lots of good advise. Especially the part about using the alternator to turn the engine over. I don't know why I didn't think of that! The smaller alternator pulley definitely helps to turn the engine with a bit of gear reduction. These guys are heavy and hard to turn!

Look at the cross member where it meets frame it's tapered lift transmission tap crossmember up and slide it back that way you don't have to beat the crap out of it downwards

Dude. For bellhousing bolts just remove your cross member first then you can drop the end down quite a bit and makes access way easier. Then use a 24-36" 3/8" extension with a wobble socket and air impact. Keep the battery shit in the toolbox where it belongs.

Also, use a porta power to spread frame for cross member removal and install.

Does anyone know how to take off the coolant hoses the transmission?? I can’t get them off. When I try to loosen the bolts, the whole hose twists with the bolt.

Your loosening the wrong bolt, 15/16th is the bigger nut on against the trans

Hey I got 2000 1500 that got towed in with both rear wheels on the ground. Now it is stuck drive shaft feels stuck at transfer case , did I mess up the trans ? ( actually tow truck drivers fault )

Very possible you did, always remove drive shafts when towing otherwise you trans is working with no fluid being pumped through it, even in neutral
