9 years later. You helping people. Nice. I just got my 99 Tahoe out the shop for replacement of water pump. 3 days later this exact part broke. I barely got it home before it completely overheated. Your video really help me replace this. I’m not mechanic but I can turn a screw. Thanks

This happened today on my 99 suburban. Went ahead and ordered the ACDelco part from Amazon. The reviews for the aftermarket ones that my local parts places had in stock were all bad. Will wait an extra day and pay $10 more to do it once. Thanks for the video. I have that hose clamp tool too.

The heater control valve can make this type Tahoe overheat and void all contents of your cooling system in no time. Watch your gauge and if it happens rapidly look at this.
@drewsquickfix7 жыл бұрын
If you replace your heat control valve you might want to replace your hoses in that area too only take a few extra minutes. Heater hose is only like $2.00 a foot . Worth the extra time to prevent more coolant loss later. I have a video showing this on my channel.

Nice presentation, and without F bombs! Hahaha. I'll have to do the same job as my old 99 Burb has a broken valve. Thanks for posting!

@alphasaiyan57606 жыл бұрын
Very common issue with these systems. They make one that’s made out of aluminum and not plastic. However , the vacuum line part is still plastic I believe. It’s just really a regular maintenance item.

I just did my 94 2500 suburban 2wd thing. 454. Heater core. Not to bad. But...larger hose to heater core seems loose. Drip drip drip. After installed everything back. I twisted hose to left. Stop the drip leak. But. I could not see all way back to notice the position of clamp. Im have to recheck after work. Tomorrow. Other than that. Gave wife some distilled water andncoolant for the road. 😏

I have a 95 Tahoe and the vacuum lines are missing from the heater valve and I have no clue where they are supposed to go... I’m having a overheat issue and after changing the thermo and the heater core and the valve it’s still overheating... any suggestions?

A good way to ID if this is your problem....look in the front passenger wheel well, if the frame rail behind the tire has fluid stains...this is prob. your issue.

Dave, I've had to change the heater control valve of my 1999 Chevy Suburban multiple times, at least: 1. Myself - though I'm listing myself first, I was the 3rd or 4th to take a stab at this. 2. Shop in Bellflower, CA 3. Shop in San Jose, CA. This shop also installed all new hoses and remarked the diameters I had used didn't match correcty. 4. Changed by a friend 5. Just changed by a mechanic who rebuilt the engine as a precaution since he could see it was leaking. Yesterday, after my first long break-in drive, I see it leaks! Any ideas how I can fix this once and for all so I can put real coolant and be able to see the correct level in the reservoir, something I haven't been able to do for over a decade.

Can anyone tell me...does this control valve....control the heat in the rear of the vehicle as well as the front? I have a suburban which has a rear heater core, and I was wondering if this valve controls the coolant going to the back?

Hi, Thank you for the video. I have a '98 2500 Silverado and am wondering what is the small "elbow" tube @the firewall where the two hoses enter. (Near the control valve you replaced). It seems to drip some water but I can't see any other part that would connect to it. Is it just a "condensation" outlet that normally drips a bit of water? The hoses at my firewall look the same as the '96 you repaired. Thank you for the video. PS: I hope you got to move to a place you like better...

@UFOGHOSTHUNTER9 жыл бұрын
Flush the heater core. Change your thermostat, easy fix and great heat♨
@tonyinfinity8 жыл бұрын
Probably a cracking hose for the vacuum, when you accelerate it's getting enough vacuum to open the heater control valve.
