98-02 lincoln Ls no start ( fuel system problem check ) see the description below

This case a new fuel pump from autozone fixed the problem.
Note ((( new doesn't mean good )))
It was towed to my house and the shop told the owner needs a pcm.
They replaced the fuel pump new from advanced auto parts but it was weak and they assumed that the fuel pump is good.
Summary
Crancking no starting or very hard starting.

Note((((fuel pressure check and the wiring check should be done within 8 seconds after turning the ignition key on dont cranck it ))))
1- check your fuel pressure at the fuel port guage when you turn the key on within (1-8) seconds and the pressure Usually (45-60 psi) . If pressure good then look for other issues or do the fuel volume test.
if pressure not good then check your fuel filter to see if its plugged especially if its never been changed.
2- check the wiring under the rear passenger seat look for 2 thick wires one power and one ground using a multimeter. You check it for power or ground when you turn your key on (dont start or crank) during 1 to 8 seconds. If you have a power and ground voltage then it cold be a bad or a weak fuel pump. Change it with the fuel filter or you will change it twice.
3- if you dont have a power or ground within 8 seconds then check the fuse and diode and the relay for the fuel pump.

Abass, I replaced the blown fuel pump fuse and the car still would not start. Would you (or anyone) tell me how to test the diode. And by the way, what is the voltage (or amperage) of the circuit at the pump? Thanks.

2000 Lincoln LS v8 new pumps new relays new fuses new diodes interia switch in the up position not depressed no power to pump tested each pin within 8 seconds on primary pump transfer/jet pump shows voltage without key in ignition Cranks good no start has spark with attempt to start with starter fluid so I know everything is working but the fuel What would you say is the problem, or concern?

If the fuse , relay , diod , ineritia shut off switch were all good an still had no power at the fuel pump , then what would you have done ? Fuse 17 15 amp powers the fuel pump relay which powers the rear electronic module , which powers the fuel pump .

Crank No start , no fuel pressure Then I checked the electrical system that effects it. After that I changed the fuel pump with second new pump after the first shop changed the first one and they told him pcm. They bought theirs from advanced Then I went to get it from autozone and it works. Thx

well, let me tell you what happened maybe you can get a better idea of whats happening. I took it to a shop to get the a.c checked while they were checking it the car turned off and i leaned in thru the window and started it the car shut off again I leaned in again and started it then the car shut off again and tried to turn it on again thinking it was cause the vacumm hoses were off. well, the car did nothing no crank. they couldn't figure it out and they pulled it to my house. I found a few fuses inside the car by the passenger side that were blown I replaced them now the car turns over but doesn't start. any ideas?

My car just died yesterday...It starts and idles fine but when I put it into drive is when it goes crazy...after sitting for a little while the car will accelerate and then slowly start to decelerate on its on...it will not die but it wont go...it stays on but at a very low rpms almost as if it wants to shut off.

I just bought a 2002 Lincoln LS V8 I can only start it cold and runs about a couple to five miles and then it acts like it's running out of gas even though I know it's not out of gas so I checked the fuel pump and they told me it was new but one of the caps on the fuel line where you pinch the tabs together to remove it out of the fuel pump is missing the cap do you think that could be my issue?

2002 ls no power at the fuel pump plug bought the with out looking at it my boss said they said the fuel pump was bad but after getting and seeing what they did something told me to check for power there was none so i checked the fuse it was bad put a new one in it no power at the plug still went to the shut off switch it was up and unplugged so plugged it back in new fuse changed the relay and diod still no power can anyone help me out what im i missing

Does the starter turn when you try to crank it? Also testing for voltage should be quick because the fuel pump will turn off quickly.

Travis Norman You may want to Goggle that. on Ford cars , it may be in the trunk on the left hand side, or inside the car on either the driver of passenger side down by the kick panel.
