Just finished my 9800x3D and 4070ti Super PC build. Absolutely amazing. Originally, I bought the 5800x3D back in April because I didn't want to spend the money on an AM5 platform, but even that wasn't enough for MSFS. The 9800x3D combined with the 6000Mhz ram made a huge difference, esp in 2K.
@deloford7 күн бұрын
I have just started my FS2024 build with the 9800X3D and 8400MHZ RAM hopefully in time for release. What I noted about the tech alpha was that my 4090 was at times under 99% load which looks very positive given that I was running a 5950X.
@strongforce84666 күн бұрын
@@deloford you know there is little to no benefit to use 8000 ram with this CPU ? except maybe in productivity, I believe 6000 cl30 or 6400 cl30 (if you can run it) with 1:1 sync infinity fabric is still the sweet spot, also, 8400 ram sounds tricky, even 8000 seem not to be easy to run.
@deloford6 күн бұрын
@strongforce8466 in most scenarios it's only a few FPS but I saw a test that showed Flight Simulator has a big increase in 1% and 0.1% lows (stutters), a big outlier from most games probably due to the large reliance on big texture transfer and loading as you approach airports etc. For the sake of an extra £100 on a £1300 build is worth it for me as this is gonna last me 5 years hopefully. Hardwareunboxed managed to run 8100Mhz on the Tomahawk I believe. And also anything over 7400 beats 1:1 infinity fabric. Look if it doesn't happen fair enough but I am gonna have a go!
@strongforce84664 күн бұрын
@@deloford Ah yeah in some very specific games engines maybe, since you're a fan of microsoft simulator it make sense to go for it and as you said, it's not that much more expensive anyways, however I had missed that he talk about memory scaling in the 9800x3d video so I went back to check and he show only 3 games but from 1 to 2% difference, it would be interesting to see it tested on many more games including flight simulator.

Excellent video with great in insightful commentary and data tthat is very well presented. As impressive as the 5700x3d is (especially for the money), we have to give credit where its due and marvel at the improvement the 9800x3d brings over the 5x00x3d chips. It's hard to believe, actually, because the 7800x3d didn't move the needle nearly as much as much as the 9800x3d. Pretty amazing. Even so, I'm on the 7800x3d at the moment, and don't feel compelled to upgrade until prices settle down a bit. :) Thanks for another great video!
@wolfwilkopter22317 күн бұрын
Especially when you see the 1% and 0.1% low, that sometimes even exceed the average of the 5700X3D... And you see how far a CPU can push a GPU like a 4090 in a CPU heavy game up until UHD aka "4K" where GPU limit is usually absolute King even with a 4090. But here you can also see how limited the GPU still was, and how much wiggle room still was left, thats why you never should go too cheap on a CPU, you could, sometimes unknowingly, choke off your GPU with it and then wonder why your numbers dont add up... I mean, look at Skyrim which just got 13years old and still gets modded to heck and back... Vanilla Game (i talk SE/AE tho, as LE is officially ded) is quite easy to run, even with entry level systems of the last 3-5 years, but oh boy can it get very heavy very quickly, when you start modding... and then ppl often ignore the CPU (and RAM with it) and wonder why their systems run like a sack of potatoes, even tho they have good mid tier+ GPU's... I'm on "Gate of Sovngarde" Modlist by Jay serpa + some own tweaks and additions and this runs very well, even with an ENB (Pi-Cho End for Azurite Weathers 2) and Enb Anti Aliasing (Mode: DLAA) in QHD with an RTX 3080 12Gig and an 5800X3D (32Gig DDR4 3600CL16), which outperforms an R7 7700X in that game when it comes to mods, despite being almost a full GHz slower and only running on DDR4, tho with the 3DV Cache and good overall performance, he only starts dropping at between 16 and 17K drawcalls, while the 7700X starts dropping at about 13K drawcalls. Other than that the Modlist still runs pretty much always over 60Fps, even with ENB and ENB AA, only the most demanding areas drop to about 50. And now imagine a 9800X3D with DDR5 6000 CL30 (sweetspot memory, with potential up to 6600 in 1:1 depending on silicon lottery)...^^ Cache is King and when you add some cores and Clocks to it...DAYUM! 😊

If you happen to have some lower spec cards, 6700xt, 3070, 6800xt, 3080 etc "even down to the 3060 or 5700xt this comparison could be huge for the average player who have those cards to see what they could get off of a cpu upgrade alone "especially hopping from earlier non x3d am4 cards to the 5700x3d....Noted since those who have done similar tests have gotten a ton of hits and I think you could put together a great set of videos in a way most don't by using the 4090 as the standard for frame tests. Some have no idea just how much of a gain they could snag for $175-200 usd in the 5700x3d or some like a guy today who said he was buying and pairing a 4090 with his 3900x. Said he couldn't afford a cpu upgrade and I advised him that on an am5 x3d with his 3080 could net a lot more frames per $ than jumping from his 3080 to 4090 then being bottlenecked.

This only confirms it (and for all cpu limited games like Tarkov, Simulations, Total war games, ...) - factually when scenes get demanding (like Streets, busy firefights etc.), you get as a minimum, what the 5800X3D offered as a maximum. AND it performs a mile better in work apps, and general desktop use - so well rounded & on current/14th gen Intel level, i really have zero need or urge for a 9950X3D (nor anything Intel). i'd be interested in benchmarking menu responsivness. i see some streamers flying through the stash/flea/traders while for me, every screen transition takes a long time, i wonder if you'd be able to identify the bottleneck for this
@rain84787 күн бұрын
Could that be a delay caused by ping? I'd imagine there would be serverside checks for your trade interactions that you cant really help on your end besides moving physically closer to the server. Another game I played had terminals that were noticably more responsive on low ping.

yes, even the old AMD Wraith stealth cooler will be adequate at a minimum. I'd recommend the peerless assassin for the best bang for the buck air cooler. Even the best cooling paste will make a really minimal difference. peerless assassin: amzn.to/493gFLp

@pyurologie6 күн бұрын
personally i'd go with 7800X3D because there's a large performance difference. It can take you up to 4K high performance gaming and leave you the option to change your monitor later down the line. These days, even 1440 high refresh monitors can be found for pretty damn good prices, especially with black friday comin up
@Blindside3373 күн бұрын
If you have a system that runs at the moment or just a decent gpu, you really may want to look into the 8800xt which is coming in the next few montha and while some claim 7900xtx performance for $500, if it was worst case $600 and placed somewhere mid ways between the 7900ct and xtx it will be a steal. Also as you may have seen, 7800xt prices and 7900xt as well have been falling recently trying to dry up sales before the 8800xt launch so you will save the longer you wait if a 7800xt would do what you wanted. .... If you happen to be in the US and a Micro-Center is near, they have the 7600x3d at $300 or a kit with it + b650plus wifi Asus Tuf motherboard and 32gb of ddr5 ram for $400. You may want to sell the ram for faster down the road but with inflation on the 7800x3d nearing 9800x3d as stock dries up you could have the combo for close to the same price as the 7800x3d alone. The 7600x3d can be had elsewhere at a good price just not that epic. From tests I have seen just barely lags behind a 7800x3d for gaming and would free up the extra cash towards that 1440 monitor or bumping that 7800xt to a 7900xt if you didnt have a card to run for a few months to wait for the 8800xt. "not trying to swoop in with recommendations @pyurologie , just a bit of an AMD junkie haha love your work man especially this video! . "

I'm Team 5800X3D, for almost 2 years now. ;) So for me it would be the 9800X3D, maybe even the 11k ones, depending on y needs in the near future. But first will probably be an GPU Upgrade, from a 3080 12Gig to a 5080 or something (QHD High Refresh or high quality/RT gaming).
@wolfwilkopter22317 күн бұрын
@@EthanolEnthusiast Yeah the 12, especially in QHD, with RT and mods are not enuff anymore. Some Games are going over that even without mods and co, not to mention FrameGen,that also adds 1-2Gigs...(tho i cant use the Nvidia one yet, which adds another reason)

Yeah realistically 32gb of ddr5 with expo enabled should be just fine. And having the game downloaded to an nvme ssd or even a sata ssd. I've never had any issues with my 7800x3d. Also the issue may be running out of vram, depending on your GPU. Try lowering texture quality and see if that helps.

About to purchase a new rig with a 7800X3D chip, what would be the most ideal GPU and RAM configuration for max performance at 2K res in Tarkov?
@pyurologie6 күн бұрын
6800XT, 6950XT, 7800XT, 7900GRE, 3080, 3080Ti, 4070 all max out 1440 for tarkov. depends on how much you wanna spend and other games you might play, but I wouldn't go higher than these cards because at the next step up you can spend a lot more, but not get much more benefit.

Do u have to Q flash update BIOS when getting the 9800X3D? Or does it boot up without and then u can update afterwards? Great vid! :)
@georgwarhead28017 күн бұрын
you will need to update the bios if you are coming from ryzen 7000, if you buy the mainboard new, chances are good that you already get a updated bios. normaly there is a lable on the box for "ryzen9000 support" or "ryzen9000 ready"

i just did a 5700X3D vs 9800X3D comparison: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmOscoiueayeZq8 Basically, 5700X3D is best bang for the buck upgrade possible for AM4 users. 9800X3D is best in class and still a great value if you can find at MSRP now. Depends on your budget and preferences. I have tested both 7900XT and XTX. Both are great cards, but overkill for 1440. 7800XT is the ideal 1440 card, or 7900GRE. Because the next step up, prices go up a lot more but you don't get much more benefit in games really. I'd rather spend the extra scratch on a nicer monitor, keyboard, or mouse. These will directly impact your experience way more. or even just pocket the extra cash and save some money
