Awesome video! Tarkov is one of my jams. I went from a 5800x to a 5800x3d and it was night and day. Recently upgraded to a 7900xtx from a 6800xt and the increase wasn’t as dramatic as other games. I quickly realized through my own testing and tweaking how much cpu bottle neck I’m getting. I run 3440x1440 and figured I’d be gpu limited and never cpu limited - of course Tarkov goes against that theory. Think I will start saving for the 9800 as I can’t see myself leaving the torture of Tarkov anytime soon.

tarkov doesn't need much GPU power, the CPU is what it needs. you should be good with 3080 with DLSS

Hey, excellent benchmarking. This is exactly how I do it when it comes to comparing GPUs or CPUs' performances: Plan out a route for certain map-level games, see which area dips the most, and test it that way. Keep up the good work, and please do more of these types of benchmarks. *edit, if possible if you can test single, story based games as well. Like Red dead 2, to god of war, etc. Thanks!

One of the best ways to test Tarkov is Offline mode with Scav and Bosses turned ON. This will tax the SH*T out of the CPU and you will see huge drops in FPS as the models load in and the scav AI taxes your CPU. I do this on the hill in front of King. Stand on the rocks and overlook the map. Wait about 5 minutes for all models to load, and you will notice an extremely consistent way to test FPS. It basically nullifies the need for any other test -- this can be used for a way to get consistent benchmarks and save you time if interested.

Got 7950x3D for 500eur the day 9950x was released, however bad zen 5 released boosted 7800x3D pricing, it went from 360eur to 490eur to now being gone fully from stock. 9800x3D was available for breath moment at 620eur and was sold instantly. Glad ive got 7950x3D but it required tuning, since addition of second non 3D ccd even when core parking is working properly introduced latency which ended up in still weaker performance than vanilla 7800x3D, Even if ccd 1 was off. Interesting will amd fixes this with 9950x3D, but the only fix would be adding 3D cache to both ccd's

I play at 4k on ultrawide but have a p old 5950x with a GTX 4080 (I know weird combo) and have been looking to upgrade so this video came out at the right time for me! Unfortunately, resolution doesn't seem to matter much for me and Tarkov hovers between 50-80 fps at 4k/1440p on streets which is pretty disappointing.

@@albertoguzmanceballo2234 i think its the base speed and IPC that is the difference here, as you can see in 4k offline, both the cpu performs about the same but when network processing is added on the online mode the 7800x3d became much weaker. This demonstrates the architectural improvement of the 9800x3d, usually IPC matters on scenarios like these more than clock speed, as it was able to compute and exchange larger chunks of data across the pipeline and since the 9800x3d both have an advantage in IPC and clockspeed over last gen the difference in data exchange with the gpu and other parts is more substantial

yeah basically in offline, there is no AI being loaded. In online mode, the AI in tarkov requires a ton of CPU memory bandwidth, so it shows the difference in cache speed/memory bandwidth

did you tune your ram at all? im on 1440p and was using a 14900kf with 2x24 8200 c38 with maxed out trefi and manually tightened timings and 5,9 on the p cores which was at 120-130 fps on online streets but thanks to intel being incapable it fried itself so much that it could only do 5,5 in the end so i switched to a 9950x with the same ram and i can not for the life of me get to those old fps numbers. it feels like the 3d cache is needed on amd because the fabric is the lowest hanging fruit and can't do as much with fast ram than an intel chip.. as soon as 9950x3d gets released imma get that and sell the one i have now

amd has stated there is no real reason to go above 6000 on the ram for the 9800x3d/9950x3d try using a more stable speed. I am getting constant 140-170 fps on streets 1440p. I even cracked shadows and everything to the max for the memes and was getting ~110-120fps

I am so confused. I have a 7800x3d, all the same settings as you. 4070 ti super, everything optimized. It's using a max of like 50% of my gpu, and im getting like 80 frames max.

in my book if you own anything x3d you dont need to upgrade

5800x3d is struggling on streets at 1440p.

The 0.1 and 1% are the most important and even the 7800X3D is massively slower than the 9800X3D...now imagine how much worse the 5800X3D is. I wouldn't upgrade from a 7800X3D but that's a completely different case when you have a 5800X3D like i do.

@@Itsanoblething yep. I tried at start of wipe 4070ti super, 5800x3d, and 16gb of ram and I'd get major stutters

@@pira707 The RAM is what's killing your performance. Upgrade to at least 32GB at 6000mhz for "stable" streets performance
