Belts will outlast a chain any day, but when they go it’s a process to replace!

I have a 99 fxdx and my shift tube is all the way out but when I put the inspection cover on the oring is showing. The inspection cover is oem he but the round piece is welded on both sides and centered. Shouldn’t it be offset to the outside or can I cut the shift tube toward the motor side to bring the oring back or put 3 gaskets on the inspection cover or just get the correct offset inspection cover?

Do you not need a Shift Shaft Tube gasket? I'm about to do mine. I have a 2004 FXDL

@@rileyhicks8421 it’s a cheap thing to do, it’s just an o ring so I won’t have to every time. But it’s cheaper to do it for at least the first time then to pull your primary off to do it the second time

Where did you find a mid control inner primary
@SlappysGarage5 ай бұрын
eBay, 99-01 are a different primary so be careful. Otherwise any reputable machinist can bore u a hole in the proper location

How much would this cost on an 01 WG?
@SlappysGarage2 ай бұрын
@@cjbat8794 all depends on the used parts market. Mids, 250ish plus an inner primary (wideglides don’t usually have a mid shaft hole) 100-200ish (would be cheaper to have yours machined out if you know a machinist). Plus gaskets would be 400-500 in total. Chain drive kits can be 250+ without labor you are looking at $650-750 in parts. Now both are necessary to remove an inner primary so if you want both it’s best to save on gaskets and do them together

Never mind. Wrong end. It's why I'm not an electrician.

Nobody talks sbout mid controls conversion on a wide glide, that came with factory front controls and doesn't already have a mid controls shaft,or hole for a shaft in the inner primary case. All the videos are for a simple mids swap thats almost in place already, and TC Bros and the like only sell "Kits" that are incomplete bolt ons only for footpegs. Your video is great,but its yet another one that doesn't address wide glides. I don't need my bike disassembled in my garage for weeks while i flip thru Clymer wich also doesn't adress problems, and Clymer literally has my exact motorcycle on the cover, a 2003, anniversary edition wide glide. Just saying.
