Awesome camera angles! I put vice grips on the heater hoses so I didn't have to drain the radiator. I used a oscillating saw to cut the aluminum heater hoses off the core from inside, and pulled them into the engine bay through the firewall. It made it super easy to disconnect the plastic quick fittings! Your truck is super clean. My truck has 550,000 farming miles and it had 1/4 inch of dirt on top of everything under the dash.

Best video for this I could find. I just replaced mine. 2000 F250 7.3 Tips: Use a 21mm open ended wrench as your quick disconnect tool. It fits perfectly and I had the space. You don't have to remove the Vacuum Actuator 9:53 . If you are handy, use your old heater core to make a U-shaped bypass line. The pipe is the same as 1/2" copper, cut at the right spot, solder it , easily install it for the summer using your factory quick connects...

Your step by step description is wonderful. Thank You. I cheated when installing the quick disconnect back on the heater core at the firewall. Using a 18MM deepwell socket with a couple of extensions, I was able to snap them in place(I sprayed the orings with WD40 to help them slip into place and not roll). The heater hoses slipped right on.Than using the 5/16 socket, I was able to reach the hose clamps all the way from the drivers side over the air cleaner hose (Using about 30" of 1/4" socket extensions)

The screw on the far side of the blend-door actuator was a bit hard to deal with but putting it back together was a bit simpler when I saw that the actuator just snaps into the bracket. removing the actuator makes the bracket easier to attach then the actuator snaps in easily.

EASY REMOVEL OF HEATER CORE LINES. Sense you replacing the heater core it does not matter if you cut the lines on the heater core. Look at time frame 15:43. You can see the heater core lines where they go through the firewall on the inside. I cut those off flush on the inside of the firewall with a dremel tool and a cut off wheel. The lines then pull out into the engine compartment where you can easily remove the quick connect fittings or simply cut the fittings off the hoses and reinstall the hoses using new quick connect fittings as shown at time 2:21. These will give you new O rings also. You attach these new fittings to the hoses with hose clamps. Easy install. I never even took the old fittings apart. I just cut them out of the system. In fact I have done this with allot of different vehicles.

Hi. First off i wanna say awesome video! I just pulled and changed out my old heater core (1999 F250 super duty), which was leaking into my cab, and replaced with a new one. Put it all back together but now I don't have any heat. Any suggestions on what may be the cause of that?
@All4HimRacingVideos9 жыл бұрын
+skeleman1963 How long are you letting the truck run before trying the heat? Also, the heater core and system will be full of air and will need time to bleed all the air out. I'd get the motor good and warm after a short drive, let it sit and idle, turn the heat to full blast and heat and let the system work the air out. At least for me, this proved to work just fine. After a few minutes (if that) you should start to feel the heat. Let me know the result.
@skeleman19639 жыл бұрын
+All4HimRacingVideos - sorry for the relate reply. I've driven a lot since that change out. the covering for the heater core is warm to the touch so i feel confident that it is circulating fluid. it almost seems as if the temperature dial isn't functioning now....does that work with the actuator motor?
@All4HimRacingVideos9 жыл бұрын
+skeleman1963 If i understand you correctly, then yes. If for some reason the actuator is not working, the air is not deflecting properly. But if you have it sent on heat, no matter where the air is coming out, it should come out hot. Is the blower motor running?
@skeleman19639 жыл бұрын
+All4HimRacingVideos - yes the blower motor runs but only blows air through it...no heated air comes out when the temp dial is turned all the way to the right (hot).... update... i popped the blend door actuator motor off, reconnected the wire harness and powered up the truck and the shaft that would open/close blend door was turning(slowly). I'll will take for a drive and see what comes of this.

Great video. Easily the best view, Most of the other videos don't really allow you to see what is happening. I do have a question. I have a 2005 Excursion. The engine is out and being bulletproof. I changed the front heater core but after reinstalling I can see the very top of the heater core despite the cover being in place. I'm not sure this should be the case. I used a Motocraft replacement and have no idea what I might have done wrong. Should any part of the heater core be visible above the cover? If not, any idea where I went wrong?
@All4HimRacingVideos4 жыл бұрын
Not really sure. Have you tried the old part in place to make sure that fits same way?

My issue is that I can not seem to get the dang plastic cover behind the glovebox that goes over the heater core back on without leaving a big gap on far right side. There is a stand off peg and it seems like it's supposed to go through a hole on the plastic clamshell the heater core sits in but I'm not sure. Anyone know how to get the cover on tight? I think because it's not tight, it could be why my 4x4 Control module had moisture in it and had to be replaced.

@All4HimRacingVideos10 ай бұрын
Perhaps, the coolant used in the heater system is the same used in the engine for cooling. So if the engine is getting too hot from low coolant it certainly would cause it to to sputter and run bad due to getting too hot

Can’t you cut these crapy connectors and replace with hose clamps. And drain your entire coolant system to change a heater core ? That’s ridiculous. Just position the hoses so they’re not hanging and you won’t lose much coolant.
@davidgates11228 ай бұрын
I beg to differ with you about there being a lot of great videos and information on the web about getting those hoses off. First, I have found less than a half dozen. Of those, all but one has done what you have done -- just state that they are a pain but can be done. That is not helpful at all. One guy showed doing it with a coat hanger, and if you look carefully, you can tell there is no engine in the truck and he is standing in the engine bay. That is also not helpful at all. Everybody says there is a $20 tool made for doing this, yet not a single person has one and can show how to use it. I am at 1:56 in your video and I am not watching the rest of it. You can count me among your haters, and I am going to click the thumbs down on this video.
