Your demo and words built my confidence to rebuild mine for $10 rather than replace for $80. Wish me luck!

You do help me solve my problem, many people put the seal in the opposite way, it really confused me a lot! By the way, why you didn’t put the iron ring after the seal is on?

Looking foward to see brake caliper with metal ring on it which you could show more info on the dust boot facing which direction to install like toyota brake calipers
@samaritanminister2 жыл бұрын
I'm not real sure about if you're meaning which way to turn the boots on my 350 brakes, or if you're meaning how to do the Toyota brakes. If you're wanting to know about the Toyota brakes give me the make and model the info and I'll look at them and see if I can't figure a way to show you if you still need that information and thank you for your comment I'm trying to turn my notifications on

great vid Rodney !. I have been through this process at least 10 times with my 04. My calipers use phenolic pistons. I found out that over time the plastic swells and sticks the pistons in the bore- or makes them very hard ( takes 150 lbs air to blow them out) that caused the brakes to drag and fail to release. The little square rubber O-Ring is the ONLY thing that pulls the piston backwards when your foot comes off the brake. That little O-Ring cant exert much force- so its very important that the pistons move free- as you said - 20 PSI. Another big problem is that rebuilt calipers all most always have the guide pins bent. (prob the ears bent where they screw in) You have to very slightly grind the seating face and get the pins parallel so the other half doesnt cock sideways and bite into the pin and lock the whole thing up. Rodney--- do you know if the earlier calipers with the steel pistons will fit on the 99 -04 trucks ? Those plastic pistons are just trash. The earlier steel ones are slightly smaller. But will the earlier caliper mate with the later chassis. ( I am SRW 2004) Tim

I can't remember where I bought the pistons but only the front ones I could find in steel, I couldn't find the rear in steel.

Great video! Exactly what I needed. Where did you get the snazzy stainless pistons?
@samaritanminister2 жыл бұрын
They aren't stainless, I can't remember exactly where I ordered them and my rear brakes I could not find in Steel and thank you for the comment
@bradleymetler49182 жыл бұрын
Can you share the part numbers for the pistons and seals?
@samaritanminister2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, I haven't gotten any notifications trying to fix that I hope. I can't remember where I got them I will research, but I do know I couldn't find the rear pistons in steel, the boots I got from advance or o'riley. Again I'm sorry I didn't get the notification, I just happen to look today.

how to take out piston? Why not show?
@samaritanministerАй бұрын
@@capju854 I should have, I didn't think about it at the time. I made the end for my nozzle to my air hose that I use to blow off dust and other things to fit tight around my bleeder valve, put a small board between the pistons and the caliper so the pistons wouldn't hit the steel and damage them, a 1x4 work good for me.then set my compressor to a low psi setting then squeeze the handle on my air nozzle to push the pistons out. One piston came right out with low psi, the other one was stuck and had to crank up the psi, the board was a plus when it broke loose it hit the board. I had to replace 2 in my front calipers. At the time I could only find steel pistons for the front. I prefer steel. I hope this helps and next time I will add how-to on piston removal.
