I am super V.C.G. fan here! Just my input on charging times. If you used a power strip to power those chargers it might have played a role in charging times. Surge protector power strips will slow down the amp draw that power strip can process. The other thing to look at here is which charger was plugged in closest to the power source because it will become primary on amp draw. Maybe try two completely separate circuits with no power strips and same size/brand/length 10 gauge Extension cord. I’m only speculating, but maybe I’m not. Wonderful videos, awesome insight and amazing energy! Stay true!

I have an old Black and Decker drill/driver. It has a puny 1.3ah battery. The charger is painfully slow, 4-6 hours for a 1.3ah battery slow. Over 6 years later the 1 battery it came with still works great and still has over 1ah of capacity. My point, if you don't need "Supercharging" stick to standard. Maybe invest in an additional battery instead. Your battery packs will last longer.

Battery’s have a certain shelf life. I stopped buying cordless tools. With the exception of a drill and I still use corded drill’s. Do you want to charge your batteries as low as possible to preserve the life of the battery. I think the Best strategy for going with battery tools is to have lots of batteries. Charge them at home at a slower rate after work for the next day.

Cordless tools are great for certain jobs but I rely on corded tools most of the time. Either way, you still have to get power to a site, be it generator or temp power pole to run your battery chargers and compressors. So there is little extra effort to run heavy duty cords as a branch line to different floors or rooms where you'll be working. Additionally, cordless tool just don't have the continuous torque of a corded tool. Sure they'll do fine for the first half dozen cuts, but then the power starts to draw off.

I can rip 2x PT over and over and over again with my milwalkee m18 7 1/4 circular saw with a 12 Amp hour battery, and never have a drop in torque. I've got several batteries and the charger charges a dead battery long before I can use one up. Cordless has come so far, they can be used in all but the most intense scenarios. Well, the expensive cordless tools can. Lol

So after looking at the Milwaukee chart that shows the charge times for various batteries and chargers, it seems like the super charger must charge the HO 6ah, 8ah and 12ah cells separately. The HO 3.0 doesn’t charge faster from the rapid charger to the super charger but it’s only a single row of cells. So does the super charger charge rows of cells separately which would make sense as to why the charge times are so much lower.

Well, an hour is good, but with the battery "Completely Drained" with no lights, it is safe to assume an extra 5-15 minutes to FULLY LOAD a drained battery. Usually we put a battery on to charge (Milwaukee's assumption most likely) with one light still showing, or has just gone out. Therefore, not quite as much time required to replace the used charge ! Yeah, got a LITTLE bit of something out the Electronics Engineering school 35 years ago !

Hi Guys!!! There's got to be a physical cost to super/rapid charging a battery. I assume the super/rapid chargers pump higher amps into the batteries to reduce charging time. Just like using an iPad charger (2.4 amps) to faster charge an iPhone (normally charged at 1.0 amps). But, besides the increased heat, I wonder if the life of the battery is significantly reduced with these types of chargers? If so, is that a fair exchange for less battery downtime on the job, but additional battery purchases down the road?
@VCGConstruction
@VCGConstruction 5 жыл бұрын

So at the very end when you were talking about the fan keeping the battery cooler and subsequently extending the overall life of the battery, why did you not address the concerning fact that the battery on the super charger was running nearly 20 degrees hotter than the battery on the rapid charger and that the 100+ degree charging temperature of the battery on the super charger could possibly be shortening the life of that $250 battery? You seemed genuinely (appropriately) concerned while discovering that fact, but then just never brought it up again. Why is that?

Kudos to Milwaukee which I’ve been religiously using since they first developed cordless, i now still have 4 -4.0 batteries that I charge on the 6 pack charger daily and have owned maybe 15 yrs, still running strong.? I had been thru every battery up till brushless and thrown away the old batteries I have used the same battery now in freezing temps to hot running continual usage... it’s as if these batteries are actually too good. Hate to admit it. My initial investment has paid off thousands of dollars in profit. Here’s where vince is smart, he is smoozing Milwaukee to help pay for the new products, wish I could. I want list- table saw, chopsaw, chainsaw, blower, worm drive saw, framing nailer, ect.... New bigger batteries.... I remember buying the tool kits with 2 batteries for $500... now that might buy one tool. Since batteries the tool companies got smart, there should have been a consortium saying all tools should use the same battery Like the d-cell , then you would be able to afford all different brands of tools, Makita ,dewalt, to name a few... now to keep it tidy your stuck to one platform. So pick the one which you prefer. Each manufacturer has its pluses and minuses... Milwaukee I would say is the best because of its battery....

Where are u from in Philadelphia, I mean what neighborhood? I’m a Philly guy from up around Port Richmond/Fishtown? Have you built any of these over priced stick homes up my way , I mean every empty piece of land from girard to castor aves and the river to Kensington ave has been purchased with permits to build new townhomes and they can’t find enough builders to get them all done this year. It seems like over night all the junkyards along lehigh Ave have been cleaned out and the framing of at least 50 three story row homes have started to take shape. I mean it’s good for my property value but my taxes have gone up 300% in the last five years. I can afford it but my neighbors who have been in their home since 1953 are retired and have a bunch of pensions and social security checks coming in but if the taxes keep going up on that trajectory in another five years they may have to sell their properties and move out of the city.

When you are questioning why it took 1min. o1 52 sec to fully charge the battery: Had you put the charger in a normal horizontal position, the battery's heat would have dissipated better and the charger could have used a higher charging current thus reducing charge time.

Don’t you mean 1 hr 52 min, and it won’t matter what position you charge it in it’s has a fan forced air flow.

---- everyone knows that batteries are the weak link - and that the current only solution is deep, deep pockets so you can afford a slew of extra batteries - I laid out almost a $$grand on M18 batteries ( on sale ) and got 6 batteries: 3 12s and 3 8s ( 8s, btw, are garbage - ALL have bit the dust in less than a year ) - this helped but hardly solved the dead battery wait - what Milwaukee needs to make is an adapter which will allow you to use the tools corded from a 110 outlet while the batteries charge

@@ar-sithf.austin3744 You stated the Fuel was only for "Industrial Maintenance and Industrial/heavy equipment maintenance". and "General everyday applications will never need the FUEL system". That's what I take issue with. But if all you use is M12 - you wouldn't know what builders use in the real world. Stick to your Craftsman cordless.

Just remember that the faster you charge a battery, the fewer cycles you’ll get out of it. For the most longevity, use your slowest battery charger (lowest amps). Only super charge if you really need it quick.

Your all wrong, it’s heat that destroy’s batteries not how fast, if the charger has a fan then you can increase the the amp rate charge with shorter time.

@@gmburzynski68yes and it’s the best method to charge off of 12 volts because dc to dc appliances do not waste energy. Unless it’s an inverter charger or something. I doubt that because why invert an already 12 v battery. I’m gonna look the charger up now! Thanks

Maybe at the 1hr blinking, it took 14 min and cooled down from 102 to maybe 90 degrees. You should have checked temp at blinking vs solid green. BUT let's retest 😎love the info KEEP IT UP.
