Should have compared the gains of other type of properties bought in that specific year. 2017/2018 prices are low not surprise they are gaining more despite being 99 years.

Some people appreciate the conformity of such developments, maybe sort of like the subdivisions that exist in the US. But in order to turn a profit there has to be some advantages to the leasehold landed compared to their FH counterparts in the area. Victoria park is really a very nice neighborhood and I think buyers appreciate that.

Plus it's a safe neighborhood. You can just open your gate and without fear of crime. This is something the riches will cherish when they know their loves ones are safe.

@@alanweeproperty Maybe less so for safety in Singapore- but I think neighbors who buy at the same time creates a sense of cohesiveness. You can still rebuild such 99 year proper landed if needed.

The Covid period distorted the profit gain because most property if buy pre covid should be able to make money. But then if minus away the Covid one off gain, probably those 99L might not make money (look at those that sell before Covid) Only plus point I find for 99L, is lower price and huge floor size for living.

my original comments was "with same quantum, it is not too hard to make 600-700k if buying 2 condos instead of 99yr landed", 2 condos give better flexibility. of coz, if buying landed for a big family or lifestyle, it is a different story.

No lah landed properties still exist in prime areas in the West. See those townhouses in Europe or NYC? Or the proper landed houses only a short drive away?
