Aesthetic wise = yes Performance wise = no. 992 carrera is better than 991.2. The new pdk itself is the killer. Not to mention its better front suspension setup.

@@christmasisawesome9348 the only 992 with a different suspension set up at the front is the new GT3, which would be awesome except for how much over MSRP those cars are at this point. I believe a 991.2 is 90% as good as the 992, with the missing 10% being technology and the interior, wet mode, ect.

I bought a 17 base Carrera with the 7 spd about 1+ year ago and I have went down the slippery slope of mods since then. It was before the price boom with the shortages so I paid 69k for it with 24k miles, and a clean carfax. The base car from the factory is incredible by itself but the key is how much performance they left on the table to make room for its more expensive variants. So any mod such as an APR tune or a DSC pasm upgrade is only unlocking more of the true car’s potential and therefore IMo makes it a worthwhile mod. So far I have done a Soul exhaust/200cell sport cats/ APR stg 1 (480 hp)/DSC V3 PASM upgrade. The only other mods I am considering long term is to add sport bucket seats for track days and an LSD upgrade (car has open diff). I do see your point about just saving for a GT3 but I am not sure the GT3 is as good of a daily and would cost much more than a Carrera. I think it’s stiffness on the rough roads would render it less acceptable but is still the dream one day. I do like the dual nature of the Carreras, with its supple suspension for comfort on the street and its performance on the track! All 911s are great cars

I not only respect your opinion, but actually beeline your case (buying pre-spike) and the purpose driven nature of your modding all make complete sense ! I just think that somebody who today buys an S for >$100k, and then plan to spend $10k+ in mods, would've been better served buying say a GTS, etc. Enjoy your 911... you stole it when compared to present day value!

@@Jmill88 tbh 992 c2s. its just a new gen and i can write off depreciation because im a business owner. so its situation dependent but I kinda wanna put a turbo s spoiler on the 992. turbo s is way too fast and out of budget for me

Couldn’t agree more - stealth modes are the best. I’m planning 3 exhaust mod on my 991.2 T, sport cats, plenum and headers. All to boost hp by about 30-40. Hp. No ecu tuning. All to give it a little more push without pushing it into unusable power territory. That and I don’t want to mess with car dynamics designed by Porsche’s engineers.

GT3 is definitely a step up from the looks, sounds and handling department, especially if you intend to track it. But torque wise the C2S is more superior.

Ya... I mean the GT3 product is truly next caliber on all fronts... even torque becomes a non-factor in any substantial comparison -- with that said, the C2S is more car than almost anybody 'needs' and is certainly a pleasure to spend time with!!

@@Reoniz Does your 991.2 have Sport PASM or have it lowered? I too have a 2017 C2S and your seems to sit lower which looks perfect to me. If you had it lowered, what springs did you go with and how do they compared to stock? Are they firmer, do the nose dip, etc?

I bought my 2017 99.1 in July 2020 with 6100 miles in a 7 speed manual- extremely optioned with a sticker close to 140k new, and the owner installed a custom built exhaust which sounds unreal (he claims it was 13k installed)- Nonetheless, I bought it for 78k with 6100 miles on it.. Will be 3 years in July and I have 16k miles on it now. I was on the verge of getting a 992 or the new Aston in a manual but I have never considered tuning it I came across some of these videos... any guidance on the best first tune mod is appreciated... This is a whole new world.. perhaps this will keep me excited about the car for another 2 years....

Zero interest in the GTS due to the mandatory center lock wheels which are a pain in the a$$ -- such a shame. Zero interest in the GT3 due to being normally aspirated which means it's near impossible to mod so you're stuck with 490ish hp with a super peaky powerband shown by the anemic 368 ft/lb torque. With the C2S in this video, a basic off the shelf OBD2 E85 tune gives you 540ish hp (500hp on 92) with the same torque #s showing considerably more power under the curve than a GT3 and on par with a "Turbo", but less weight and look-at-me drama. It's capable of much more. "Tuning out of its class" is something I expect to hear from someone with an elitist attitude and a billionaire sugar daddy to which it's no issue to step into the next class effortlessly. The rest of us lower model peasants prefer the challenge of modding multiple classes up.

I understand your take on the GT3 being a bit less torquey that the S and GTS, but there's more to the car than just it's engine and power figures, completely different class to any of the standard Carrera range. Nonetheless, to each his own, my opinion is just that, mine, and you are fully entitled to disagree and do with your money as you'd please...
