We give a few thoughts about the 992 Carrera T on track. The vehicle does well out of the box but is begging for more power to amp up the fun! *More Thoughts & Details* flat6motorspor... www.flat6.com

Sounds like this car is pretty good out of the box! 😁

I agree the base Carrera has plenty of performance. I put a Cobb tune for 93 octane on my 991.2 and added about 70 hp. Next is GTS turbos. Nice video.

Thanks for the video Jon really enjoyed it.👍 What is the difference between a Base Carrera and a T Carrera except the Manual Gearbox ? Even knowing you can get the T with PDK Transmission.
@Flat6Motorsports6 ай бұрын
The only differences are the T get's the mechanical LSD, SPASM (lowers the car 10mm), and some lightweight glass/sound detinning. Overall pretty minor, the LSD would be the biggest advantage. The interior gets a few "T" bits too like the sport seats which I really enjoy over the base seats.

@@Flat6Motorsports Don‘t forget the included sport chrono package and the sport exhaust. The light weight glass and the light weight battery are more unnecessary marketing gimmicks and they bring some real disadvantages in my opinion in everyday use. But overall it is much more involving and emotional car then the base Carrera, even if you choose pdk. Personally I think it is well worth the price premium, even if you don’t resell value into calculation. All the 911s come in different flavors. This one feels very like a classic Porsche. If you want the most comfort you choose the base, if you want almost mind blowing performance and acceleration then the GTS might be the choice. And the also powerful S is just a great machine for everybody. I drive a manual T with backseats.

@Flat6Motorsports do you find it difficult to read the white numbers on the tachometer during the daytime due to the white ring, or does the black tracing around the numbers provide enough contrast?
@Flat6Motorsports6 ай бұрын
You know, I wish Porsche would have used black lettering on the white gauge. I don't find it to be an issue, you get very used to where things are at by the needle and sound but I do think it was a tad bit of an oversight by Porsche.

Jon at what odometer miles will you do your first oil change?
@Flat6Motorsports6 ай бұрын
1 year or 10,000 miles. I generally do them more frequent on our development cars (6 months or 5K just due to the use we put them through). It's probably not necessary at all to do that but given the ease/cost we typically do. Per Porsche (I only have current through the 991 generation). For the Turbo (which is probably more similar to the Carrera due to the turbochargers and heat to the oil) they schedule for 4500 track miles or after 1 24 hour Nürburgring race. For the GT3, it's 6000 track miles or after 2 24 hour Nürburgring races. So the 10K miles is fine!

Did you get any lap times? I’m curious because I frequent The Firm and I’m considering a T.
@Flat6Motorsports6 ай бұрын
1:18.3, I had a nice lap on pace to run a ~1:17.7 but caught a really slow car on the straight towards the end of the lap that didn't see me/give me a point by so had to get on the brakes. I'm slow through turn 4, the off camber kink. The car has more in it for sure.
@briancobb12956 ай бұрын
Ok that’s fast thanks. I’m at 123.1 in a G80 manual with stock Pirelli’s.

Does the ECU tune void warranty? Can Porsche detect it if we flash back to stock?
@Flat6Motorsports3 күн бұрын
At the dealer level, they cannot detect a tune.

Its needs more corner speed............decent set of brake pads, hi t brake fluid, better alignment whilst maintaining thrust angle at 0, better tires and then see how it does - more power is rarely the answer - driver training and better tires usually is.
@Flat6Motorsports6 ай бұрын
Agreed but the goal of this build isn't exclusive to just improving lap times. We'll use them to compare the set-ups.

did the brakes start to get spongy after a few laps?
@Flat6Motorsports6 ай бұрын
Not too soft but we recommend higher temp fluid for sure. I wasn't pushing the car 10/10ths, just giving it a good shakedown (8-9 lap stints).

Are you supposed to rev over 4000 rpm with 200 miles?? I just got my T last week.
@user-mx8py3yv8r6 ай бұрын
Warm it up and drive it like you stole it. Break-in is because of lawyers. In Germany, break-in isn't even a thing. People buy their cars and take them straight to the ring. If you want, spend the first 700 miles or so increasing the revs a little bit every 100 miles or so, but even that isn't necessary. Do what makes you most comfortable, but think about it....the idea of driving the car under 4k rpm for the first 1,800 miles and then hammering it all the way to redline at 1801 miles makes no sense either. Warm it up and enjoy it.
@sportdrivingpnw6 ай бұрын
Wondering the same thing. My instructor at Porsche Leipzig said you don’t have to but I want to hear it from these guys
@user-mx8py3yv8r6 ай бұрын
@@sportdrivingpnw This is debated on every single performance car forum. Ultimately, everyone needs to do what makes them comfortable. Breaking it in slowly won't hurt it...or will it? There's a counter argument that driving it like a wuss in the beginning will cause it to burn oil later. Is it true? I have no idea. I own multiple performance cars and have always been reasonable with the first 500-750 break-in miles - building revs as the miles pile on, but then it's warm it up and enjoy. It's a Porsche.

How do you compare this to the 718 GTS? Also what happened to your 992 S with the tune? Would’ve liked to see that on the track.
@Flat6Motorsports6 ай бұрын
2.5L or 4.0L? The other 992 has been replaced but we'll be taking this up to 700HP and will check back in with another track review along the way.
@KoryoJK6 ай бұрын
@@Flat6Motorsports 4.0. Why was the 992 S replaced?
@Flat6Motorsports6 ай бұрын
@@KoryoJK It was a base PDK with GTS and then Pure Turbos. We wanted to do more validation on a manual. The 4.0 is a tad more nimble/direct and has a more neutral feel. The big advantage of the 992 would be the mechanical grip and the torque on corner exit via the turbos.
