Let me get this straight; Custom bottom end built from a 1098 crankshaft, custom aluminium frame (and swingarm) containing not just the fuel tank but also the coolant, and it was all done in like a year or so? That is just incredibly impressive! As an mechanical engineer I feel a bit redundant seeing stuff like this..... And awesome video as always Max! Really cool seeing you doing this youtube-thing together with your old man. I have followed you since you only had a couple of subscribers, really cool seeing what you have been able to do the last couple of years, hope you are enjoying this as much as us, your viewers!

The CR-500 and KX-500...they both would beat my It-490, they beat the KTM-550...and it beat the WR500..... Now my old Husky 500 XC....it could sort of hang with a CR500......perhaps a toss up...but I didn't quite have the balls and enough room.... And in those days...the bikes weren't like super tuned...I mean we did the best we could with what we had I will watch this twin CR500 on hillclimb day... Good job goes to the French. I love Paris and France in general Visited and worked there 4 times ... VIVA LE France 🇫🇷

Thanks for sharing, young man, 62 year old 2stroke junky from the states. Your post made me remember the fun I had back in the mid 70's to mid 80's. I was Enduro back then. 1979 Husqvarna 250 wide range was my poison. I don't care what anyone says, 2strokes rule the turf and personal water craft. The power band is like trying to compare apples to oranges between 2 and 4 stroke. The 4 stroke always fails when you need it most. Have fun and be save out there, and always respect the machine, for it has no feelings or conscience. Cheers 😊

13:58 Damn that sound took me back. When I was a teenager I had a little Kawasaki KDX125 that I used to ride for fun on the fields. One day when I was out riding, a random guy came to ride with us on his CR500. It had no baffles or anything in the exhaust. To this day never heard a louder internal combustion engine in real life. Even through my helmet and the sound of my own bike at full throttle, his bike was simply ear drum shattering.

I haven’t been able to ride since my father died of cancer because my mother lost her mind and started doing drugs, but I literally have dreams at night about riding as a young boy in the desert of yuma Arizona. That’s the happiest most amazing feeling I’ve ever had! One day.
