Good video. Always wonder what was the difference. Would they let you use the aluminum ones at a shooting range? An indoor one?
@Scott67 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. The indoor range I go to does not have a problem with any pistol ammo. Rifle ammo on the other hand is a different story.
@brandonbaker61299 ай бұрын
I believe the only problem the indoor range has with the ammo is they recycle the brass casings and when you recycle any metal if you mix aluminum and brass they pay a lot more for brass but then they give you what's called dirty brass or dirty aluminum and they pay less if it's dirty, can cut down on what they pay them for. The brass casings buy as much as 50% and they don't have people sorting it because then that's more payroll and less profit on the casings

i got the one on the right side or your left side. When Acadamy put them up for sale at $15 per box, i got about 200 rounds at 1st to test them, shot all 200 thru different guns and my rfile with no issues. Went back and got 1000 rounds, shot off 500 of those with no issues Went back and got 1000 more then another 1000 rounds all at the same $15 price. So now i got about 3200 rounds in my closet. Sale ends 5.16 so i am going back to get another 1000 rounds. Stacking up while cheap because normally they are $20 per box and 25% off, its a no brainer.

@Scott67 Жыл бұрын
Velocity is the same at 1145. Case expansion to the eye looked the same. Sorry I should have measured.
@socalswells Жыл бұрын
@@Scott67 it's possible there's more case expansion, because it's my understanding that aluminum cases don't hold up to the pressure as well as brass cases. Maybe why they can't be used again?
@Scott67 Жыл бұрын
@@socalswells I found this. Aluminum doesn’t have the same elastic properties that brass has. Aluminum once stretched more or less stays stretched and any attempts to bring it back to the shape it was causes fractures.
@ozzyosbourne826 Жыл бұрын
@@socalswellseah and I noticed that the aluminum cases looked as if the extractor was working harder to pull em out .,the ejection was a lot shorter in arc , as the brass cases were creating a “rainbow effect”
@turk7sr596 ай бұрын
@Scott67 I work with aluminum for my job and I can tell you that the aluminum can fracture during bending or stretching. Odds are that at the operating pressure of guns the aluminum most likely develops either weak points or micro fractures which would make the casing extremely unsafe to reuse. Brass is a far more ductile metal and handles being stretched better then the aluminum does. One thing that people tend to forget is that brass also wears out from repeated use. There is a limit to how many times it can be reloaded. I don't remember the limit but I do remember learning about checking the brass since it does wear out.
