Big fan of Makarov. Very accurate and easy to conceal. Plus a really cool Cold War relic!

I wonder how different 9x18 velocity would be out of a barrel without polygonal rifling? Just a question in my head. Interesting results for sure.
@8mmmauserman2 жыл бұрын
That would be interesting to test. Once I see a Makarov of comparative length with standard rifling, I’ll run this test.

Both are very lethal, especially below 300 ft. and are great for self defense.

🇦🇺😎👍The 9 mm Luger is the clear winner for stopping power Big John. Not much 9x18 down here big fella. The Makarov is a nice little piece…. John I’ve reloaded the aluminium cases and they shoot good. When I mentioned it at the gunshop they frowned at me like that was a big no no ….. great video mate 😎👍

There are a lot of things you can do that some people say you shouldn’t. Ultimately you need to look at your situation, seek wise council, and figure out what’s best.
@sbreheny2 жыл бұрын
Strictly speaking, you shouldn't take the average velocity and use it to compute energy. You should compute the energy for each round and then average. This is because velocity gets squared, so any variation shifts the mean upward slightly: (a+e)^2=a^2+2ae+e^2, where the last term is positive regardless of the sign of e.

As for the "surplus" 9mm Luger, it would probably be 9×19 NATO. Winchester did sell some in 150 round boxes; it's 124gr advertised at 1200 fps, cases have standard NATO markings. I used to buy it at Walmart when they still sold "non-fudd" ammo. One thing to be aware of is 9mm NATO is made to different specs than 9mm Luger, and exceeds both SAAMI and CIP specs for standard pressure and puts it well into the range of +p. My CZ P-07 is supposed to be rated for it and I've gotten very accurate and consistent results with it. (Maybe not as good as RWS, but much better than regular WWB). I wouldn't recommend a steady diet of it though - basically treat it as +p, as it will more quickly wear out your gun.

Good to know. I just got a PO-9 recently, how do you like the PO-7?

I honestly prefer the mak over a Walther PPK I love all steel and it's the most powerful blowback only round for a compact pistol, fixed barrel is nice Sure you can fire 9mm, .45 , 40 or even 10mm if you ream the barrel from a high point but wow is it a huge heavy slide. I can't stand striker fired pistols, the only striker fired anything I own is when the striker gets hit by a weight and it feels like a single action trigger.

I gots to stick with 9mm Luger, even though 9mm Makarov is a slightly bigger caliber bullet, by that time you should just go with .40 S&W or even a .45 ACP, in a semi-auto handgun !! Although I always wanted a genuine Makarov pistol, at least just for my collection, 9mm Luger will always shoot a slightly heavier bullet & will go faster than any 9mm Makarov, with any barrel length !! But Again, another great video, Mr. 8MM Mauser Man !!
