Thanks to a couple viewers I found out the tech manual has the incorrect R134a charge listed for 13.6L engines. It is supposed to have a charge of 4.75 lbs instead of 4.25 lbs. So the next day I went out and put a 1/2 lb more into the system. Now it is correct. Thanks guys!

I service vacuum pumps (also known as blower pumps) in the dairy industry and learning about how vacuum works absolutely blows my mind, we can automatically regulate it through how fast a cow is giving off her milk. Vacuum/blower pumps are freaking awesome and it’s sweet that we’ve found a way to manipulate it to benefit farmers. Love the videos, surprisingly seeing you diagnose/explain things has helped me understand more in my field, appreciate the awesome videos, keep it up!!

Nice little tractor, congrats. Also, it's heartening to see I'm not the only one who forgets battery switches. Set down in the machine wondering why it won't start, walk half way across to the shop to fetch the charger only to realize that I forgot the stupid battery cutoff.

The 955 looks pristine. The late 1990s John Deere compact tractors are very very desirable. Minimal electronics. Parts available. Mine is a 1997 John Deere 770 purchased new by me in 1997. It's in the same condition as yours. It's 20hp, manual transmission with the original 70 loader on it. I use it with a 60" brush cutter, the loader (with a home made 800 lb counterweight), 55 gallon boom sprayer. I put an iMatch hitch on it almost when they came out. This 812 year old loves that iMatch.

I have seen a service valve tool that will let you change those schraders out without taking all the coolant (and oil) out of the system. Not sure you would have been able to get that tool onto the valves with the hood in the way like that though. If you can get them in there, they make the job a LOT quicker and cheaper!
@ZKMasterTech Жыл бұрын
Yeah I need to get one. But yeah I think you're right. Dont think it would have fit in that situation without putting the hood in the service position. It was way too windy out that day to do that to the hood. I think I put the mastercool one in my Amazon store. Check the link in the description.

Hey Zeth, I was out to 5 of these tractors yesterday! Found some interesting things to consider. All of the tractors I went out to had HVAC Low Pressure Codes ATC 871.17 or 518349.04 logged. There is a DTAC that mentions that for model year 2023 9R tractors only, they have approved an increase to 4.75lbs refrigerant charge. I also found on one tractor that the high side line that runs just under the compressor has a fitting that is commonly found loose (can see this fitting connection @ 11:11) up here on new tractors.
@ZKMasterTech Жыл бұрын
@KALI1080 thanks for the information!

Sometimes I wonder how they come up with refrigerant volumes. I've filled systems of all flavors to factory fill off a prefect vacuum. Watched the pressures while in operation.... and knew the system is under charged. As I get older the less I care what the manufacture says.

You’re fine as long as however and wherever you’re loading it into won’t allow liquid refrigerant to hit the compressor when it first tries to run.

@@ZKMasterTech Zeth, I am a retired farmer. I owned John Deere equipment for these reasons- I had excellent service from my John Deere dealer. My John Deere equipment was very reliable. And when I retired, my John Deere equipment sold very well. (Some of my equipment sold for more than what I paid for it when it was new because of regular JD service and enough machine shed storage for all of my equipment.) Case IH and other companies make very good equipment too. I happened to be loyal to John Deere, but I still enjoyed the razzing from Case IH guys. Trying to figure out a clever response to that razzing kept my mind sharper!!! I suggest that you continue to be the way you have been. I enjoy watching and learning about what service techs do. Your videos help other people understand what service techs do, especially during busy seasons. A little humor along the way is a very good thing. DB
