For safety reasons, that’s not really smart with the fit of the rotors and pads. When you press on that brake those pistons pushes equally, since the pads spacing isn’t equal you’ll come to some issues of seizing those callipers which you don’t want to happen when your at the track. Get some hubcentric adaptor 5mm, to push out the rotors to the Center of the caliper so it gives equal press. Or cheaper alternative is trimming out the calliper mount by 5mm so the calliper sits further back which also helps with clearance! Anyways great video!

Acura TL Type S with Brembo BBk came in 2007 and 2008 not 2006. The 2005 and 2006 TL base with manual transmission came with the same brembo calipers.

Old comment, but what spacers were you talking about? Other than drilling the holes out larger & removing the dust shield it's a bolt on kit.

3:51 this... because it was rubbing when fullt installed. Need to shave off 1mm on the knuckles. On the mounting bolt holes 2:42.

Use a 5mm shim behind the rotor
@soliduspr
@soliduspr 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, thats why the inner pad didnt fit. You need to move the rotor out 5mm with a spacer in between the hub and rotor. "Behind the rotor". In most cases you need to cut the edges of the spacer to make it fit.

Awesome video. Was just wondering if you know of any clearance issues (I have 17" rims, I know the tl type s came with 17's so maybe they'll clear np?) and if your brakes got spongy switching to a bigger caliper. and is it a night and day difference in braking power?
@62garage58
@62garage58 5 жыл бұрын
These are 18" so it would be hard to know for sure. Your biggest issue would be spoke to caliper clearance so watch out for that. It looks like a 17" should fit fine otherwise. Also, with big brake kits you don't get a huge increase in braking power. It is mostly for the cooling benefits (besides looking great!).

Hey bro quick question... if I go to the parts store and just get two front replacement calipers for a 2007 tl type s are they the same as getting them used from a junkyard? Just bare silver and unbranded? Will they bolt right up like if I took them off a TL type s in the junkyard?
@DriFD3S
@DriFD3S 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are the exact same. The bolt specs should be identical, junkyard/OEM. Hope this helps. OEM will be super easy to paint. Junkyard will be cheaper than OEM.

Hey Danny, these RPF1's are 18x8.5 ET40. They did rub in the rear but a bit of negative camber took care of that.
@DavidRFelix
@DavidRFelix 4 жыл бұрын
62 Garage why did they rub in the rear? This had nothing to do with the brakes right? Considering this option and might run stock 18s. Hoping they’ll clear too.

We had already installed Stoptech stainless steel lines (OEM replacement though). We believe that the issues we ran into with the pads were specific to that pad/brand. When we put on a set of track pads we had 0 issues and the spacing was perfect.
