Without Beacham this season wouldnt have been AS good, although still would have had some mystery and intrigue. Evans said had she knows the show was going out shed have stayed the entire time. You could tell Forsythe missed her being around as they were close freinds off set. SO much lost potential for a searies that easily COULD have went a few more years had the network given it a chance. To this day watching this classics makes me sort of sad.

@@redletter2008 Virginia was a whiney untalented twit. Her scenes with Beacham made this point all that much more obvious. Beacham could have done even better if a season 10 had came. Although without Collins who said no to a season 10 there would be no villan and Beacham has said in interviews had season 10 happened Sable would have been quite the bitch and somewhat rewritten which to ME wouldn't have worked. Also sables friendship with Blake as nice as it was I feel like she was about to do something shadey to him when she said to Jeff..."I am NOT after Blake Carrington.....not in the way that you mean" and I and many others couldn't have forgiven her for that unless maybe that was the gateway for her turning bitchy but Blake was mourning the loss of Krystle at same time Forsythe was mourning the loss of Evans. You could tell he was unhappy without her as a scene partner. Evans should have stayed and Pamela Sue Martin back as Fallon would have I believe helped ad well as Ms. Dianne Carol back and Kate O'Mara as Cassandra. Why not a female drive show? And Dallas left the air only two years after Dynasty. Knots hung on the longest bowing out in 1993 and that show had died in 1989 when Donna Mills had left it became in watchable

Travis Grant Stephanie Beacham was younger than the role of Sable was written as. Maybe she decided to spruce up her look on Dynasty and because she was actually quite young it made a significant difference in her appearing more youthful?

Sable And Dex Would've Made A Great Couple,Accept That Sable Was After Blake,Even Though Dex Was The Father Of Her Child. As We Know,Dex And Alexis Fell Over The Balcony,It Was Explained He Broke Alexis's Fall,She Survived But He Died. I Wonder If They Would've Let Sable Have The Baby,Or Explain It Away As A False Pregnancy,A Miscarriage Or Menopause!!!

Joan Collins contractually could take part to only half of the episodes of season 9. She had become too expensive. That’s also why they brought Sable. The main writer and producer changed in season 9, that’s why the characters were more fleshed out and the situations became more organic. I guess they wanted to modernize the show and try to bring into the 90s. Unfortunately the ratings were bad but at least the 9th season had some redeeming qualities and was interesting after two rather mediocre seasons.

Riding off the coattails if the poster who said Dynasty seasons 1, 2 and 9 were the series best I'm in total agreement I always loved season 9 the best though as I always loved Sable way more than Alexis. I thought I would have missed Krystle played by Linda Evans but I didn't. The series actually felt like family. Zorelli though was a bit of a fracture but was getting used to him. He has chemistry with Emma Samms that John James was lacking. I did like Sammy Jo with Jeff. Sable and Sex those two were dynamic together. I had a feeling they were going to try to pair Monica and Adam together. Which I would have loved to see that I always hurt once I found out the series was cancelled

Spelling failed to generate interest in the middle class 'Blaisdell' plotlines in s1-2. He fails again in the Grimes /Zorelli arc. The American audience wants middle class comedy and upper class drama.

Maybe in the early 80's. By the late 80's, the economy was on a recession (not helped by savings and loans scandals and insider trading reveals.) On the pop culture scene, working-class shows were starting to become popular (like fellow ABC alum, Rosanne) and the public just were not into ostentatious displays of wealth as they were before. Ester Shapiro said thst the appeal of Dynasty was thst people were into the "mystique" of the wealthy (remember this was BEFORE they were whoring themselves on reality TV all the time and found out they were often vulgar trash) by season 9 the "intrigue" had faded and people wanted something more down-to-earth. Since "wealth porn" wasn't selling anymore we got more lower-class characters and scaled-back scenarios

It was too bad they waited until season nine to put the show back on course after losing so much of their viewers with the lacklustre seasons 7 and 8. They should have had Sable follow Jeff and Fallon back to Denver after the Colby’s was cancelled instead of waiting a year and she just might have saved the show.

Out of all the actresses, they could have come up with they got that no talent General Hospital, hack to play Fallon. The casting couch must have still been in full effect.

This season proved that Samms always had the goods to play Fallon - her GH character was very similar in fire and wit. The watered-down writing on The Colby's, which started on Dynasty even while PSM was still there, was what forced Fallon into a sappy damsel.
